Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found. Hold up. Go back. What is that? What is that little number in the corner? I'm guessing you noticed.... there's a little bit of a story that goes along with this. It's a little bit messy, and thanks to an oversight on my, it's not nearly as cool as it could have been. However, thanks to some friends, it's going to be way better than it should have been. Intrigued yet? Hope so. If you watch to the end deal, you might get free drinks out of the deal. While I might have gotten on YouTube 18 years a
go and I moved here seven years ago, I started vlogging daily the first time. The first time? Wow. Almost eight years ago June... Something... will put it on the screen. And while that might seem like the straightforward answer to the question that frames this whole video, unfortunately it's not. But hey, who wants a simple answer? You see, the numbering system was really important when I started daily vlogging because I wanted to prove to the world that I could do it every day for a long time.
I actually talked about this with Nathan yesterday because he was curious about the numbers and also hadn't seen the costumed characters that were at the beginning of my vlogs before. Like, how'd you do that? Did you dress up every day? The answer is no. I mean, that would have been kind of cool, but that would have been way too intense. And I'm intense enough already. I'm not going to get into all the details about how I set myself up for this situation exactly, because I feel like that's a
little bit getting into the weeds. But suffice it to say more or less a form of accountability. At the same time as showing how ambitious I was. The intro characters were a way of setting things, just trying to have a nice visual pop at the beginning of every episode. Something funny and something consistent, and nobody really noticed even the patterns in it. Like, I had to explain how it works. But anyways, it was a lot of effort. That... doesn't frustrate me that people didn't really appreci
ate anymore, but it is funny to think back to it and remember how much it actually did kind of bother me back in the day. Suffice it to say that the numbering system started a numbering system of vlogs, right? One every day for 54 weeks to start. And then I renewed and continued and we ended up going for three years, which got us up almost to 1200 vlogs. This is where it gets messy. The messy part is that when I stopped vlogging daily, the numbering didn't really stop because I kept vlogging
and I tried in different ways. Like I'd vlog weekly or monthly or bi weekly. I don't know exactly how I defined it, but stuff like Paris in my Pocket or a French Friday, things that were more educational or touristy, I didn't count those as vlogs. For me, vlogs were like insight into my life. Maybe it was just what I was thinking about or what I was doing that day. But those are the kinds of things that ended up still getting numbered as vlogs behind the scenes as I went along. And over time...
number go up. All right, I just need to get ...this I know will fit my backpack. Kind of wondering if one of these giant ones would fit my backpack? Let's just go for the small one for now. Which brings us to Partisan. Just kidding. Partisan has nothing to do with this beyond the fact that I need coffee. Also, we're meeting Sam here for a drink. But don't forget, speaking of drinks, stick around to the end. I'll tell you how I might be able to hook up with a couple of free, amazing cocktails.
Who's this handsome guy with the giant beard you got working there? [laughs] - No, no, no, no... - Do you want to touch him? Do you want to come behind the bar? - Yeah, I'd love to touch him. Yeah. How you doing? Are you excited to see Dune tomorrow? - Oh, yeah, very much so. The reviews are awesome. - I've avoided all reviews and all spoilers. - Oh, my God, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. And the first one... - I can't wait. So even if it's a little bit inaccurate, 1500 is the n
umber of vlogs that we're hitting today. There's your messy answer. But now, how did I mess that up? 1500. The whole space invader thing that we just went to two days ago was to celebrate his 1500th space invader. And if I had been thinking straight when I bought the tickets, I could have bought them for today. And then my one 1500th vlog could have come out celebrating his one 1500th invader. That's how I messed it up. That would have been kind of fun, right? But that's okay because our frien
ds at Abricot have come up with another way to celebrate 1500 vlogs, along with a couple of other things going on in their world. And that is how you're going to get your chance at some free cocktails. How do we get out of it? We can't get out here. Oh, can you go through here? What if I push this? Nothing. But first, a quick trip to the dog park. Got to the dog park just in time for all the other dogs to leave like all of them. I don't know what to tell you, buddy. Goodbye, almost friends. We
miss thee. If there are no dogs in the dog park, does that just make it a park? Well, buddy, we tried. Jen and Allison started this place just over a year ago and it readily became a favorite. Not of just mine, but like, there are so many people that love this place. I would love to claim that I discovered it and that really, I'm the one that told everybody about it. But that's not true because they know a lot of people. They're very friendly. The reputation gets way out ahead of them. This p
lace is amazing. It's also true. I wish I could take credit to Americans who came here and brought a higher level of service than you're going to find in most bars in Paris. I have said that to you every time I've come in, and I mean it. I don't know what they're putting in the water here, but the service is top notch. It's really fun, great vibes. There's live music on Sundays. It's really, really good. And there's a lot to celebrate right now because not only do I have 1500 vlogs under my be
lt, don't go look at the total number of videos on my channel. We didn't even talk about that. These guys have been open for a year and the video is coming out on International Women's rights Day. Women business? Why the heck not? These guys have been really generous in offering to give two free cocktails to one lucky winner. And I'm going to throw in a guide as a way of celebrating. So the way that you participate is to make sure obviously, that you're subscribed to my channel and then go t
o Instagram. Follow Abricot, follow me, like the reel and leave a comment below tagging the lady that you would like to take out for a drink the next time you come to Paris. One lucky winner is going to get a gift card to Abricot and we'll give you access to my guide. Lifetime access right there. And I mean, what more could you really want? Seems pretty celebratory. - A shaken margarita! - Shake it, yeah! Please shake it, yeah! [shaking] The food is delicious. You can eat your way through the
whole menu. Get the cornbread. The jalapenos are amazing. Nachos, vegan. Possibly the best nachos in town. There's one other contender, but we won't talk about that tonight. And then the welcome drink. Really, really good. And if you like it as much as I do, occasionally you can order it as a whole drink on its own. - Cheers! - Congratulations. - Thank you very much, and same to you! I mean, why not just start a little bit of a celebratory giveaway season, right? Like we're talking to some frie
nds in town. Keep an eye on this space. I think we're going to do a bunch of stuff. And if you're coming to Paris and you'd like some free stuff, we'll get you covered. [chatting] Cheers! Wait to see you!

I only have a moment before work begins and wanted to say: congrats on 1500! Hope you have a wonderful Friday, Jay. Maybe Sunday Coffee with Swanson? 🤔 Cheers, dude! ☕️

@BlueSkyGuitar2

Congrats, Jay! And per usual lots of nice, subtle / seamless flexes of your video making skills. I often pause and say wait - what did Jay do to get that shot? He got off the Metro & ran over to stick his camera to the wall, then ran back to the Metro (or waited for the next train) to get the shot of himself and Cooper walking off the Metro? Not to mention all the running and walking up stairs shots... I appreciate all the doubling back you do off camera. Merci!

@bruin_tea_et_ecriture
