Brazil is home to a wide variety of
animals that are unique and fascinating. Today, we will be learning about five animals
from Brazil, and some interesting facts
about each animal. Can you guess what animal this is? It’s a toucan! The toucan is a colourful bird
with a very large beak. Did you know that the toucan’s beak
is so large that it makes up about one-third of its
total body length? The toucan uses it’s beak to reach fruits
that other birds can’t. The colour of the toucan’s beak can
indi
cate its age and health. Can you guess what animal this is? It's a jaguar! The jaguar is a big cat that is known
for its strength and agility. Did you know that the jaguar is
the largest cat in the Americas? Jaguars have very powerful jaws that can crush the shells of
turtles and armadillos. Jaguars are excellent swimmers and can even catch fish in the water. Can you guess what animal this is? It's a sloth! The sloth is a slow-moving animal that spends most of its time
sleeping in trees. Did yo
u know that the sloth’s fur is home
to algae and insects? Sloths like to munch on leaves,
twigs and buds which means they are herbivores! Sloths have long claws that they use
to grip onto branches. Can you guess what animal this is? It's a capybara! The capybara is a large rodent that
is often found near water. Did you know that the capybara is the
largest rodent in the world? Capybaras are very social animals and
often live in groups of up to 20. Capybaras are excellent swimmers
and can hold th
eir breath for up to 5 minutes. Can you guess what animal this is? It's an Amazon river dolphin! The Amazon river dolphin is a freshwater
dolphin that is found in the rivers of Brazil. Did you know that the Amazon river dolphin is also known as the pink river dolphin? The Amazon river dolphin has a very
flexible neck which allows it to turn its head
in almost any direction. Amazon river dolphins
have a unique communication system that involves making different
