all right let's continue with this story at 804 so we're going to take a look at what the bridge looked like um before and this is a map of where it is in the Baltimore area and as Bob Kelly was mentioning it's such a major part when you think of you know going up and down uh the Northeast Corridor there sure built in 1977 more than 11 million Vehicles annually annually wow travel on that it was first called the outer harbor Crossing but then they you we should name it after somebody and so one
of their favorite Sons man who grew up in Frederick's Frederick Maryland Francis Scott Key they named it after him who of course wrote The Star Spangled Banner yeah okay can you hey can you see so it's who knows how long it's going to take to repair that thing years and years and years so Greg uh is the governor on site now I don't yeah well Mike and Alex the governor is not on site but I want to start with you know the best thing that we heard out of the updates that we got the two updates that
we received and that is that two people have been rescued now we'll talk a little bit about that a little later but I want to give you a live look right now at what it looks like because we because of the fact that we do have the daylight we can kind of see the cargo ship off in the distance and you can also just see the extent of the damage that was caused by this cargo ship on the bridge now I want to take a look at this uh video that we've been showing you pretty much all morning it's the mo
ment the ship hit the bridge causing it to collapse now officials say this was around 1:30 in the morning leading to multiple vehicles falling into the water and authorities trying to rescue at least seven people now they are reporting there was multiple vehicles on the bridge at the time including one the size of a tractor trailer officials say sonar has detected multiple vehicles in the water and we're going to take a live look now from our our helicopter in regards to this and officials are s
aying that they are currently relying on on folks the dive team to be able to determine when this situation gets to a point where it's an unsurvivable situation but for the time being they are going to continue to be in that search and rescue mode now we are told along with divers on the bridge construction Crews were on the bridge doing concrete work officials are currently talking with the crew members from the ship and for right now water traffic through the area is suspended this is what cre
ws are saying about the incident today at this time this is an Active search and rescue mission we know there were we know there were individuals on the bridge at the time of the collapse working on the bridge contractors for us the Coast Guard's primary mission right now is search and rescue looking for any survivors in the [Music] water now the FBI is here which they say this is kind of standard procedure for this type of situation but they said you know it's also determine if this was an act
of terrorism now we are told the body of water is about 50 feet deep in the current can cause a tough scenario for crew so once again I mean we've been mentioning this pretty much all morning the the biggest focus is is hoping that there are more rescues involved in this and hearing from officials from the Coast Guard they keep repeating it over and over their Focus right now is search and rescue Mike and Alex all right uh when you see anybody of of official capacity let us say we'll punch it up
thank you nice job down there uh okay Federal Mar yes did you want to say something to me there you go okay so this is from the press secretary for the governor um of Maryland governor West Moore and yes he is on site he has arrived on site there's also um other photos from the press secretary for the governor showing him with the mayor of Baltimore looking at the remnants of the Francis Scott keybridge so he is there we are expecting an update in about an hour and some change and so I'm sure w
e'll be hearing from the governor himself and as you know earlier he declared there's a photo there um on left yes he's on the left and the mayor Baltimore is on the right right mayor Brandon Scott yes and so um as you know earlier the governor did declare a state of emergency um so we will hear more words likely from the governor soon
