I am a teacher of English. Why listen to me? There are so many other teachers out there,
both on and offline, there are so many other people with their websites, blogs, YouTube
channels and video courses promising you the best method for learning English. Why listen to me? What is it that I offer that others don’t? 3 things The first thing
is that I am a non-native
of English and I learned the language as an adult. I was born and raised in Bulgaria a small
country in Eastern Europe. Growing up behind the Iron Curtain I had almost
no access to western books, music, movies or culture of any kind. I started learning English seriously, with a
textbook and a dictionary, at 27 years of age Why is this important? It’s because I made a conscious effort to
learn the language. I am very much aware of the whole learning
experience. The secon
d thing is that, I did not just learn
English but also taught the language. I’ve taught more than 13,000 individual
lessons to more than 1,100 people. I am very much aware of not only how I learn
but also how other people are learning and the difficulties they are having. I have a unique experience as both an adult
learner and teacher of the English language able to answer virtually any question related
to EFL (English as a Foreign Language) or ELT (English Language Teaching). Everything I say i
s practical and it is
tried and tested. It’s not just about what works in theory,
it’s about what works in practice. And I wrote a book about it. It’s the third
thing that separates me from the rest I’ve learnt English, I’ve taught English and
I’ve written a book about how to learn English. No empty promises, no unfounded claims. These are the facts, and it’s all on paper. I’ve learnt English, I’ve taught English and
