This ranking includes all channels whose content
is entirely or at least mostly animated, making no distinction between individual or independent animators and animation studios or production companies. January begins with several channels vying
for a position in the top 15, mainly companies' channels but also some individual creators like Hapico and Dude Dans. In February, Dude Dans, a popular animator
who mainly makes short animated skits and memes, still managed to stay in the top 15,
but end
ed up dropping out of it. Also in February, animator Alexey Gerasimov starts posting the biggest online phenomenon of the year, the “Skibidi Toilet” series, posted on the DaFuq!?Boom! YouTube channel. The series tells the story of the Skibidi
Toilets, which are toilets with human heads, involved in a war with the combined forces
of Cameramen, Speakermen and TVmen, who are people who have CCTV cameras, televisions and speakers for heads. In March and April the series' popularity
begins to increas
e and in April the channel has its best month ever up until that point, gaining more than half a million subscribers and 263 million views in the month. At this point in time, Alan Becker, the most
subscribed individual animator of all time, with over 21 million subscribers, had gained
700,000 subscribers in the first 4 months of the year, while Gerasimov, with about 2
million total subscribers, had gained 860,000. In May, the popularity of the “Skibidi Toilet”

and almost 3 billion views in June. The second half of the year begins with DaFuq!?Boom! gaining over 6 million subscribers in July,
bringing its total subscribers to 22.8 million since it was created in 2016. This is 600,000 fewer subscribers than Alan
Becker, who
at this point in time had 23.4 million subscribers since his channel was created in 2006. In August, DaFuq!?Boom! gains 4.6 million subscribers, surpassing
Alan Becker and becoming the most subscribed independent animator of all time, with 27.5
million total subscribers. Now let's see the most viewed channels of
the year. As you'll notice, many of these animated channels
specialize in cartoon music videos, but there are also channels for non-musical animations,
