tend to follow that pattern so there is concern
that his for at least maybe a year at least this year his like real top five potential running
back status could be in question so I just want to talk about the spot a little bit yeah so I I have
some pushback to each of those so last year Tyler algier 210 carries cordial Patterson 144 carries
Caleb Huntley had 76 Avery Williams had 22. so that's that's 250 carries that didn't go
to algier plus Algiers 210 that's 460 carries right so let's say
that this is you know injuries
aside like if we were just to assume that Alger and Bijan are both healthy for 17 games which is
probably unlikely but I think those are going to be the only two guys I don't think we're gonna
see a third guy working in getting carries they can give Alger like eight to ten carries a
game and Bijan Robinson can still threaten 300 carries this year and I I don't so with how
much they run the ball and specifically unless they run the ball with the running backs
I'm not
concerned about bijan's rushing volume at all you also look Desmond Ritter had only 16 carries
in four games so I like how their offense ran with Mariota where he was a real portion of the
rushing attack there really wasn't quite the same with Ritter I think Ritter is probably more of
a Scrambler he's certainly athletic enough to be used on design runs situationally but they were
not running with him quite as much you also saw when you swap The Desmond Ritter that he was
willing to
throw to the running backs a good bit more than Marcus Mariota and that's probably he
has something to do with the fact that he wasn't running quite quite as much I'm just pulling
up the stats uh right now because I didn't I didn't intend to have this right away offhand
but Tyler algier in the games where Ritter was the starter right those last four weeks you saw
a couple games one target up another game he has five cat five targets four catches 400 or not
400 yards 43 yards in that game s
weet game so there's a little bit there and then you even go
back to 2021 and like I think that last year is so singed in people's minds with this Arthur
Smith run heavy offense people forget that he was also the coach in 2021. they threw like a
hundred passes to running backs that year between Cornell Patterson and Mike Davis over 100 past the
running back so I think we've seen Arthur Smith be variable in how he's ran the offense with Mariota
with Matt Ryan and then with the first four gam
es of Ritter's career I don't think that we fully
know exactly what it's going to look like in 2023 um to me it's it's a team that what we do know for
sure is that Arthur Smith has always had really efficient running games it's a great running game
schemer we know Bijon Robinson is a fantastic crossback you know he went in the top 10. so
to me like is it going to be 280 carries 320 carries 40 targets eight 70 targets to me these
are kind of error bars um I still think he's on question 101 I
still have them over a base first
higher than any other player on the board sure I don't think it was as much like would he still
be the 101 I just think it's more I think people were really expecting when I say people I mean
the general Dynasty landscape we're expecting like an rb1 potential finish I just think there
are other places that I think would have been I I think that's super in play I I think so like if
I'm doing redraft ranks he would be my rv2 okay free one McCaffrey one yeah
that's what I figured
okay because I think I think I'm think I'm drafted down to think that he got right I didn't he
got a little not like a game-changing downgrade where I need to sell them everywhere but a little
downgrade all right we're gonna talk about that when we get to Richardson because I have a couple
comments about Taylor uh for that but Billy One Last Thing Before Bichon before we carry on no
I I think it's a good position and I think it's in in terms of what you want for a guy
who's
going to be drafted that early is you want him to go to a place where you can expect him to be
the offense and it feels like there's going to be a lot of cases where they're going to need to rely
on that in Atlanta this year because from what we saw from Desmond Ritter he was very happy to you
know volume feed Drake London but to an extent you've got to expect that that offense isn't going
to be passing as well as we expect a lot of places a lot of some of the other places to go and b
ased
on Arthur Smith's history I could see them relying very heavily on Bijan Robinson week one so I
I think there probably was better places where he might have had say a little bit more space
to run and he still would have gotten similar opportunities running the ball but um I I think
it's a pretty good spot I mean of the places that were available I think it's pretty pretty solid
okay cool I think all of that is completely fair and I mean look at the schedule they get Carolina
New Orlea
ns Tampa Green Bay Minnesota Houston Indy and of course obviously the Panthers again Bears
Lions Jaguars Saints bucks twice then the Titans Cardinals commanders and jets aside from five or
six of those defenses from what we know right now this is an easy run schedule I'll say this too if
you were listening and you were doing something else and you couldn't keep track of all the 17
teams that Tom rattled off in Rapid session I'll make it even simpler they play the NFC North which
sucks they
play the NFC West or sorry if the NFC North which sucks they play the AFC South which
sucks this is a really really easy schedule they play the commanders they play the Cardinals like
this is this is us get it's an easy schedule in the NFL um by most like schedule waiting metrics
I don't even know what they put in those formulas but I see the formulas pop up on Twitter they
say it's the easiest seems like the easiest to me um yeah like they're gonna play from I think
people think of Atlanta
as kind of a bad team um I think that their roster got a lot
better this year and when you factor in their schedule they're going to
play from ahead more than people think I think this is the team that's
going to threaten 10 wins uh this year phenomenal man I love that one day quick second
