us Abba so talk to us about what categories you're most excited about well I am so excited about all of the categories I mean the the the show is going to cap off uh an incredible week of activities um that we've been having over the last few days this afternoon we honored June Ambrose with our Vanguard award last night at our Awards dinner we honored Frankie Beverly with a Lifetime Achievement Award and the show is going to continue and continue to honor and celebrate Black Excellence across f
ilm and television streaming music literature and podcasts and so we are looking forward to the show which is airing on CBS and bet on Saturday night at 8:00 pm absolutely and you know one of the categories that just has a lot of people talking is Entertainer of the Year it has such a wide range of talent but the person who stands out to me is is Usher he's just coming off of all the wins he's receiving the president's award he had an incredible halftime show do you expect him to win this one to
o he could he could he could but it is a packed category it have Fantasia burino who was outstanding in The Color Purple we have Coleman Domingo who was great in both Rustin and The Color Purple we have Kiki Palmer and hiy Bailey who was fantastic in The Little Mermaid and so it is a pack category uh Usher may win but so could any of these other nominees absolutely I mean no shortage of Talent on that roster let's talk about the music awards though as we're sort of talking about music bit what a
rtists are generating the most Buzz so everybody from Victoria Monae to burner boy David do so the the thing that we love about the nacp image Awards is that it is representation from across the diaspora and so we have international artists that are featured in all of our different categories and I I I couldn't be more excited to hear who's going to win uh tomorrow night I think that's a really good point that the the full breath of it so I guess in the final moment that I have with you ABA what
do the image Awards mean especially as we're looking at at how many years the NAACP has been celebrating Black Culture what does it mean if you're just taking a moment to think about black excellence in America it is for for us activism you know we often say that art is activism and representation matters and how we are seen on the screen and in music it's often how we are treated in public policy and to be able to celebrate Black Excellence celebrate Black Culture on this scale uh and in this
