Hello, everybody. I'm adult programing librarian Daniel
Pewewardy at the Wichita Public Library. I'm sure some of you have seen my face
before, since I'm the librarian that oversees
the Academy Awards shorts program that the Wichita Public Library
has done every year since 1986. I'm very excited to say
this is my 10th year doing it. I first started this program in 2014,
and in that time we have screened 150 films and have shown films
from all over the world to over 7,000 attendees at the program
s. We've watched films that make us laugh, cry, and even make us think
and show us the world outside of Wichita in the categories of animated, live action,
and documentary. It's been an honor
to continue this legacy, and it's been an amazing experience
bringing all these films to you. I've enjoyed watching them with you,
and I can't wait to show you 15 more this year. Starting March 2 to March 9, we will have our 38th Academy Award
shorts program at the Wichita Public Library locations,
as well
as Derby Public Library. To find out information
about screenings and the names of films, check out wichitalibrary.org/academyawards. There are awesome films this year
from over eight different countries, and there is even some films
from powerhouse indie directors like Wes Anderson, known for The Royal Tenenbaums
and The Life Aquatic, also Jared and Jerusha Hess, the directors
of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre. Don't miss them. Again, check out wichitalibrary.org/academyawards for more infor
mation. See you at the movies.
