Em Power Moore Art

hi I'm em Palma and I thought I'd pop in and  tell you a little bit about myself so I am a primary art teacher I'm an artist I'm a parent to  to teenagers and I live in Melbourne in the inner West where there's lots of culture Multicultural  lots of street art lots of great food from Africa and Vietnam and it's an amazing place to live and  I have been doing art teaching since 1996 if you can believe it and not only have I been in the  primary art room like I have been for the last 10 years but
I've run children's festivals  I've worked at Community Arts organizations I've worked in theater venues art galleries um  events done some window displays as part of my job and I've also been a secondary teacher as  well in performing arts dance drama and arts as well and design technology so I'm pretty  handy with a power tool um so this channel is really I started it during the pandemic when we  were doing a lot of online teaching to provide extra videos for my kids and students at home and
also using my art teaching and I just wanted to reflect that I think one bit of gold Speck of gold  through that process while it was very stressful um was also that I have continued to make  some videos when I'm doing live demonstrations and I AirPlay them in the classroom to the TV  that I am lucky enough to have a Big Apple TV um in my classroom so that the kids can actually  see all the tiny little things I'm doing with my technique rather than how I used to teach  which was to crowd them al
l around a table so I have found that actually really useful and  also if kids have been away I can just hand them the iPad with the video that I took from the last  lesson and they can quickly watch the instruction mini lesson and demonstration and catch up and I'm  using slides a lot more for my learning intentions I'm putting artworks up on the TV in a much more  considered way the kids are used to looking at it quickly they can reference it during the  lesson and it just really guides my les
sons and my learning if classes are a bit ahead because  I teach 22 different classes from Foundation which is our five-year-olds right through to grade  six our 12 year olds so they can get a bit out of sync with sport days and curriculum days and  public holidays so I can quickly switch between my slides I put my terms slides in a Google  slide and I can add slides in there the classes that need a little bit of catch up or I can do  some extension work while I'm waiting for other classes in th
at cohort year level to catch up so  that's a little bit about me and my art teaching journey and I've decided to create a little  bit more content for my YouTube video now that I'm not feeling as triggered about being back on  YouTube after the pandemic I feel like I've been on site for a while now so I will be posting some  more content so if you're interested subscribe hit that notification bell all those things do I  have a notification Bell hmm I need to check that anyway um I look forward
to giving you some  tips and tricks and sharing with you some of the things that Delight me my sharing  my passion for Arts education with you
