First episode: The boy in the iceberg. Last episode: Avatar Aang. Progresss yeesssirr
I remember I was at my grandparents when this episode first aired. It was about the time for us to leave, and my dad was calling to us saying it’s time to go. We yelled back to him AANG IS FIGHTING THE FIRELORD!, and he came running and sat on the couch with us and we watched it, it was awesome
Almost bring a tear to your eye when you see how many times Aang was merciful with even the most vile being in that universe.
I’ll never forget how satisfying this was watching it live as a kid. Truly epic.
I love the shot at 4:15 where Aang is redirecting the lightning and there's that look of sheer terror in Ozai's eyes. It's like you can hear him screaming internally, "No! Zuko actually taught him that?!"
What’s great about this battle. is that it’s literally the whole point of the show. Like, everything leads to this. But it actually lives up to the hype. It surpasses the hype. Perfect execution
Imagine calling yourself "The Phoenix King" only to be beaten by a boy who constantly gets called twinkle toes
Aang shooting that huge stream of fire at 1:17 is such an underrated moment It reminds the viewer that Aang gets a boost from Sozin’s Comet too
Honestly, taking away Ozai’s bending was the better way to go because now he has to rot in prison, and constantly suffer as he has to live with the fact that he went from absolute glory, to nothing. Edit: thanks for all the likes guys, I really appreciate it :)
The best thing about this battle isnt just Ozai vs Aang. It's also Aang vs himself in the Avatar State. The Avatar State could easily destroy anyone or anything but Aang chooses to overcome that raw power and find another solution based on his own beliefs and peaceful nature. The character development for Aang and Zuko was so amazingly written in this series.
5:05 Mark Hamill's delivery there is perfection. Still can't believe they got him to play Ozai.
The way ozai pulled off his clothes in flames . Was an iconic scene
Everybody gangsta until the avatar grabs your goatee.
Craziest part about this is how much the writers hyped this fight up from the beginning of the series. We knew that the series would come down to this and the amount of excitement that it brought to the fans And boy did they deliver.
9:12 — wind so powerful it literally blows the earth away. Always gives me chills.
12:01 This will always be my favorite part that always gives me major goosebumps. Like as Ozai's energy slowly corrupting Aang's you can hear it making a sort of sickening wet sound as it spreads over Aang but then when all seems lost a great symphony plays and Aang's energy goes on full blast. Always leaves me breathless.
The fact that this is the only interaction between Ozai and Aang in the entire series makes it so much better.
Not enough appreciation for 13:02. The music, the calm controlled powerful mature aang, now a fully realised avatar with complete control of the avatar state, the moment his eyes light up, it's mesmerising every time
Ozai has an addiction of fighting literal kids
