Are you wondering about the difference between  affect and effect? When speaking quickly these words sound the same! They both sound like  effect. Confusing, right? Here's how you can remember the difference. Affect is a verb and  verbs are actions. A is for Action. For example: The news affected me. I felt sad after hearing  it. Affected is a verb so we spell it with an A. Effect is a noun and nouns are not actions.  They usually take an article like a, an, or the. For example: The news had an 
effect on me. I felt sad after hearing it. An effect is a noun so we spell  it with an E. See the difference?
