hello and welcome to another exciting tutorial uh i'm sorry i was away for many months in the i'm back on track and i'm gonna be creating uh much more content now okay so in today's tutorial we're gonna be creating growing leaves with cinematic effect and this is we're gonna be creating [Music] so without wasting any more time let's get started let's create a new comp 1080p 24 frames per second it's just fine 10 seconds all right let's relearn with solid name it element and apply element go to s
cene setup and import the bar player use auto normals and normalize your size or scale it up and we're gonna hide the leaves and for this let's all click on the bark mat and all of the leaves are deselected let's enable environment and apply and environments from um i have these maps from video copilot and let's apply sky map sky maps are really cool i guess this is the right one you can choose any anyone you want uh let's brighten the environment a little more so it so we can create a daytime i
t's looking cool click ok go to group 1 create group null and scale the tree to 500 maybe yeah 500 is fine let's create a new camera preset uh atm can be fine okay let's create another object and we enable to cam changes change it to 3d layer and all right this was the basic stuff um and now let's import the leaf layer leaf layer and the opacity one let's create a new composition with this leaf and drag in the opacity layer as well and track matte with aluminum okay now it is transparent and mak
e child of layer 2. so now let's change its anchor point to okay this is just fine now scale it down 0 and let's say we need to grow the leaves and after four seconds like this [Music] unless i add some rotation because uh when leaves grow they wiggle like you know let's apply some random rotations maybe a little bit a little bit more detail is just fine you can let's smooth it out the keyframes let's smooth smooth them out let's smooth them out okay now this is looking it is going outside of ou
r comp oh okay now we need to import leaf one layer and hide it and then go into layer one and select leaf one go to scene setup and here in leaf one mat select that layer custom layer we made all right so uh right now you can see the background is still there leaves backgrounds are still there so what we need to do is go in the alpha threshold and change the value to 0.5 now the background is it is gone and we are ready to proceed so add more leaves and apply this same layer or you can drag and
drop this material the same material we created with the alpha matte add some details and variations i need to add a leaf with a bit of color change uh let's select this one sorry select this one and uncheck png sequence okay now let's make a duplicate of leaf one and double click and it replace the leaf one with the subsurface color one so what we need to do is alt click and drag and drop and it will replace the layer all right so let's import leaf 2 as well and hide it and go into custom text
ure maps and in layer 2 select leaf 2 and go into scene setup again and let's turn out let's turn on so apply the [Music] custom tool layer and set its alpha threshold to 0.5 as well now turn all the layers back on cool and apply these materials to all of them but in random ways so we have more details in leave e all right now it's looking much much more better let's click ok and if we drag through the timeline you can see the leaves are growing in a beautiful manner looking cool huh nice all ri
ght now let's apply some lights and some shadows let's work on some environment go into render settings in physical environment click on show in background okay and the light influence should be not too much a little bit or let's animate the scene first zoom out or you can [Music] rotate x value and or basically i need to animate the scene first then we can work on the render settings [Music] all right a subtle movement is fine uh not too much this is too much i guess 30 should be fine so we can
see leave going uh 15 should be fine yeah we can see leaves are growing well just like let's let's pan the scene a little bit ah sorry okay this will look nice maybe we can scale the tree up a little bit more let's say 700 or 600 let's apply like parallel light and the 200 intensity and light orange like it can work fine cast shadow okay reposition the light change its direction in a way according to your environment map okay let's add a little for a little bit fog in the same [Music] sky blue
fog and fog star distance play i highly recommend to play with values with your taste okay so now this is looking just fine and change its opacity to 20 i guess maybe more 30 i guess should be fine yeah 30. ah looking nice huh okay now let's go to lightning and if we change the falloff we can see ah scene looks more cooler maybe we can animate light follow and it will look amazing see nice alright so let's enable shadows raters red trace shadows and rd shadow samples should be 2 and let's enable
ambient eclipian retraced rd sampling two two all right let's change the shadow darkness in the light parameters and it changes to 50 maybe maybe i can increase light intensity a little bit more maybe 350 or let's reposition light light fall off to maybe at two seconds so we can see our daylight scene a little bit sooner this is looking nice okay so how about i enable sub surface scattering for the orange leaves this one enable and change its color to orange a light orange so if you see all lea
ves with orange texture has subsurface scattering turned on now i think it's too much we need to lower the intensity maybe 50 percent or 10 percent again let's lower the intensity a little bit more five percent should be fine okay turn on depth of field this is when the magic and let's say the focus distance to 500 and the aperture value to 25.3 bring the tree more in focus 1800 can be fine i guess this part is uh in focus in the okay so to add more details to the bark we can apply glossiness ma
p to it and i have those files here bar clause and apply a chlorine map and increase its bump to 150. maybe we can lower the environment multiplier uh a little bit let's add some more trees to add a little detail in the background so we can duplicate it and drag it in z-axis and duplicate it again basically add as much detail as you can i guess four copies are enough for now okay so now let's create a new scene and duplicate comp one double click and let's remove the current animations and delet
e this camera and let's create a new camera with 200 mm preset click ok and create a new null object and now let's play with the focus lower the aperture yeah zone basically i need to find a spot to focus some nice leaves okay cool i'm gonna play with the aperture values and blur values here and so we can focus these leaves here let me turn off the now yeah now if we increase the aperture around 50. if you see these leaves are looking cool and let's create a subtle movement here a little let's i
ncrease the blur level as well maybe increase aperture as well all right so let's do a test render yeah this is looking nice really if we turn the sampling back on and see how does this look enable subsurface scattering enable rate raise shadows and the ambient is already on okay so basically you get the idea how to grow how to show growing leaves in the element 3d and the rest is on you in this scene i have used flares and i changed its source type to luminance and source layer to element one a
nd to show some shine and uh to add more realism to the scene so this is it i just wanted to show you cool tricks like how you can grow leaves in element and uh that's it for now and they keep creating new cool stuff i am johab and i'll see you in next one till then bye bye
