Hello! Welcome to my channel this is going to be
the first video I'm filming after coming from my holidays so it's like starting over but whatever.
Today I'm going to talk about all the books that I read during January. I read 11 books and I'm going
to show them as I read them so the first one I read, well I actually started it on December but I
finished it the first few days of January and it was Bloodmarked, the second book in The Legendborn
Series so I cannot really say too much about it
because it's the second book but it's it's really
amazing like I loved the first book and I gave it four stars but this one is actually 4.5 stars for
me. These books are about Bree our main character her mother recently died on the first book, she is
dealing with all the grief and all the emotions that come with that but at the same time she
realizes that there is a mystery revolving her mother's death and trying to discover what
really happened to her mother she ends up being involved in l
ike a magical world where the
round table of like Merlin and the (king) Arthur that Legend is actually true and there are
people who are fighting against evil based on that round table. I don't want to say too much just
because I always go into books knowing very little about them so I feel it's going to be
more enjoyable if you just discover everything that happens on your own. But yeah it has magic,
it has friendship, it has a bit of a love triangle but not like fully, it has a morally
g
rey character that I adore but the main thing that I adore about these books is that we, with all
the magic, you also get to know more about Bree's ancestors and those also play a huge part in these
books and I adore when we talk about ancestors in any book just because I'm really involved like I
really want to know about mine so I see myself there. I will recommend these books a
hundred percent, I don't even know when the third book is coming out but I just really need it.
Then I was going
to make a vlog reading the best books of Goodreads like I've seen some people
do and I thought it was going to be fun but it wasn't fun. I read Sea of Tranquility, that's not
how you pronounce it but that's how I'm pronouncing it this won I think best sci-fi for Goodreads 2022.
This is a time travel book where you get to see different storylines and then how they connect
but besides that like I couldn't really tell you what else is this about. The main protagonist I
think he was sweet and
he had a nice story but at the end of the book I was like what is the point
of this book like nothing felt really intriguing or like I was hooked everything was kind of meh
so I was like at the end I didn't care about everything that I have read so it was really boring for
me like I do like time travel things but this one just wasn't it and it's also involving the
pandemic like different pandemics throughout all the years and I still don't feel ready to be
reading about pandemics like I don
't want to do that like I didn't know that was going to be
a theme in this book like I said I go into books without reading much about them so maybe I should
probably start reading what the books are about. So after that I just ditched the video I wasn't going
to make it and I started reading the cabin at the end of the world and I actually really like this
book I think I gave it four stars I've been using the cawpile spreadsheet this month to like
keep track of my reading and it's really a
mazing because there you can give ratings to the books
in different categories so like plot, atmosphere characters and at the end you get like the total
number and that's what you should probably give the book and that's been really helpful for me to
see like exactly how much I want to give a book so I'm going to leave the links in the description
down below. Cabin at the end of the world is about these two parents they are gay and they have a
daughter and they go into a cabin that feels at
the end of the world and they are supposed to have
a relaxing holiday but then four people appear out of nowhere and they start messing with our
characters. It's a horror book. I found it really engaging and like entertaining, I couldn't stop
reading and also the relationship between these two fathers is super sweet and also the kid I did
give it four stars instead of five just because at the end of the book there are still so
many questions that I have that were not answered then I decide
d to pick up the deep and this was
my favorite book of the entire month. The deep is about this group of kind of mermaids who all
don't remember much or anything almost of their lives and the only member that actually collects
those memories for everyone else and like she has to deal with all of them is our main protagonist
so the book starts with her feeling overwhelmed and like she cannot deal with all of those
memories anymore so she's trying to find some peace for herself so this is a re
ally short book I don't want to spoil it because it's really good like if you read something that I recommend please read it
it also deals with ancestors of course because of the memories we actually get to see those
memories and what happened and how those mermaids came to be I will say it's related to slavery so
it's really violent but at the same time it shows how after something so horrible there is still
hope and that was the main focus of the book for me. Getting to see everything that
all these people
have gone through and they are still fighting being good people and caring about each
other and their community. As a bonus point though this kind of silly but it has a queer
relationship and I wasn't expecting that so it was a huge surprise and it made me feel amazing just
because I like seeing those type of relationships in the pages it's also like that relationship it's
really sweet and kind but also straightforward and like they're forcing each other to see the reality
and the consequence of their actions so it's very mature but still sweet and I loved it
this will probably be on the top five of the year just because that's how much I liked it. I still
feel like I'm not talking about it well enough so just go and read it and then you tell me. So
then I actually decided to start with my official TBR and I read carmilla, this book was kind of
disappointing I gave it three stars I was either expecting a sapphic romance or a really gory gothic
story and lik
e we didn't get either it was a weird relationship like it was trying to show a weird
relationship between a vampire and a human being but that's not really what I wanted, I wanted a
relationship like a real relationship so that's why I gave it three stars because there is nothing
wrong with this book it's just not what I was expecting so like I didn't really care. Then I read
gravy's choice, this is a graphic novel I was actually given an e-arc from this book through
Netgalley and I really
really liked it. It's about this kid that is plus size and he is struggling
with bullies at school but also his father isn't really supportive of the things he likes, like his
father wants him to be a really sporty kid and he doesn't really care about sports. So it's
him dealing with all of that and trying to find himself and what he actually cares about, what
he wants to do instead of letting other people decide for him. It's a really sweet story of course
it infurated me at times because
his father this book also shows that parents aren't always
perfect but I feel like you should at least try to be, you know? Like he's just a sweet little boy
he shouldn't be fighting with his father but besides that I really enjoyed reading this book.
The graphics are phenomenal, everything is so nice to read and to look at. The friendship he
has with his best friend is so sweet like one of the best I've read so caring and like no jealousy
at all and that's just perfect. Then I read Can't
Let Her Go which was actually on my TBR too and
I'm so disappointed I didn't like it. This one is a friends to lovers story between a nail
technician and another woman that owns a barber shop. So I was really excited about like I didn't
know it was going to be a sapphic story but once I started reading I realized it is a sapphic story,
both of these girls are lesbians so that's already amazing. I really really like that but that's just
because I'm sapphic but the book on itself wasn't really
that enjoyable. I think the main issue I
had was the way it's written and like the dialogues everything felt not real, the reactions these
characters had and the situation that happened that's not how a real person would react or how
they'd feel. At times some dialogues felt really childish and these women I think they are like 30-40
so it was really putting me off. I didn't like the characters themselves like their personalities but
at the same time I feel like their personalities weren't
really flashed out, it felt like I was
reading a book, you know? Like I didn't get immersed in the story, it felt just like characters
that felt really superficial and everything was very superficial and I didn't get anything out of
it. It had some sweet moments, you know, regarding friendship and I did laugh but besides that this
book wasn't really for me. Then I actually read my physical books and I started with an interview
with the Vampire I dnf'ed it. I actually left it at 191 so like
I still had a chunk to go through
but I was just over it. Well this book is like an interview with the Vampire and the
vampire is the owner of a plantation in the 1700s so already a horrible person. There is a bunch
of pages of him explaining the entire process the story like of course it's the interview but I
thought something interesting was going to happen but it's just him talking and talking and talking
and like his story isn't really that interesting for him to be talking so much. An
d then we get
introduced to a small girl, she's five years old and he is tempted by her from the start. It's just
disgusting. Like I read a couple of more chapters like I read a ton like I should have dnf'd it as
soon as he said that small girl was tempting but I actually read a couple of chapters more like a
ton of chapters more I think I read way too much of this book. Because of the this small girl was already a woman like mentally but she was still a child and that's when I left this
bo
ok because it seemed like it was going to start a relationship between these two but she still has
the body of a five-year-old and he also refers to her as his daughter and like he feels paternal
to her but at the same time he's still tempted and loves her and it's just weird, really disgusting
and I was like why am I forcing myself to finish this book? And I just dnf'ed it because besides being
really absolutely disgusting, it's really boring so it's nothing good in this book. I really hate
it
and I only give books one star when I really hate them I gave this book one star. And then once I dnf'ed
that one, I started the school for good and evil this was such a relief, it made me enjoy reading
once again because I almost quit everything with that book. But the school for good and evil is
about these two best friends. In their small town two kids always get kidnapped every four years and
they've discovered that these two kids go to the school of good and evil, one goes to the g
ood kids
school and the other one goes to the evil kids school, it's based on fairytales.
And these two best friends, one is like really shy really gothic, she lives in a cemetery,
she never gets close to people and everyone thinks she's kind of ugly and then the other best
friend is like a princess, she's blonde, she's cute everyone adores her, she's nice to everyone but
once they get to the school the evil one actually gets dropped off at the good kids school and the
princess one gets thro
wn off in the evil school side. So is them trying to escape this place or
get back to their corresponding places because they think what happened is that they were placed
incorrectly. It's a really awesome story about friendship, I love this friendship. I didn't like the
princess one because some reasons I'm not going to spoil it but I didn't really like her but
once we get to know her like really she got so interesting but then it happened the opposite with
the other character like this ev
il one was super interesting at the beginning and then at the
end I was kind of really not caring about her that much and so we'll see how the second book
goes but I just adore it. I wrote it on my review it made me feel like I did when I first
read Percy Jackson that I was just hooked into the story, wanting to know more and wanted to know
about the magic and the stories inside this world and the characters, everything is just interesting.
I do have to say that it was funny in this book pri
nces like Prince Charming are actually
important because... then I found out this book is written by a man and that made so much sense
because who cares about Princes like they never have stories, they are just there to be pretty and
to be what the princess wants but no one really cares about Prince Charming or like I couldn't
mention you five of those. We all just care about the princesses and their journeys and the
evil characters. Then I read the way of the cicadas this is another e-arc
I received through netgalley
and I was really excited about this one because it was marketed as a dystopian queer book about these
people that are living underground because the nuclear war happened in the earth and everything
has too much radiation so they are living underground but then a girl comes from the outside and
she is actually fine so a group of people decide to leave this bunker and actually try to live
outside. So it sounded super interesting. the first thing I have to say, thi
s book is not queer. It
has a queer relationship, it was more like before you come out you have a weird relationship, like at
least I did, like with your best friend when you're queer where like you are kind of in a relationship
but not really because you know no one is out and no one really knows like when you are really young
you're don't really know what is happening but you have a closer relationship with that person than
anyone else. That was what was happening, not really a relationsh
ip and it was like the secondary
characters not the main characters either way so and then the dystopian aspect, it was really
boring I thought the government was going to be a huge thing like always the government is the evil
behind everything but in this book the government was super weak, super bland, they didn't do
anything. Sometimes they were threatening but that's just how the characters felt, it's not
what I was seeing through the pages. The writing here and the dialogues were reall
y childish and
dramatic also like I was expecting characters who didn't trust things, who were living in a lie and
they were trying to escape and you know survive outside and just smart people like the is six
of crows crew like all of them have their secrets and they are trying to survive but also
they have an end goal. These characters didn't have an end goal, like they were just bored inside
of the bunker and that's why they left. They were also always changing, you get to see different
povs here and each character would be different depending on who was narrating, like they didn't
have the same personality, everyone was seeing different things so at the end I didn't feel
like I know any of them. And the last day of January I decided to pick up a book just because I
really wanted to and I read the girl from the sea this is a graphic novel, it's also super cute and
sweet. I do have to say it's a romance like a YA romance between a human girl and like a mermaid
and the roman
ce happen way too fast for me, like super fast. But after that like if you try to
ignore how fast it happened this story continues to be sweet and charming. It also has other factors
like friendships and family stuff going on too so it had a lot more than just a relationship which I
really liked. This was a sweet and cute story like really quick to read and really nice to look at. So
those are all the books that I read this month, let me know if you have read any of them and I've also
been
seeing booktubers who tell you an emoji you can comment if you don't know what to comment so if
you made it this far you can comment the mermaid emoji because of the deep was my favorite
read and it had mermaids so comment that if you don't know what to say. And if you liked
this video, give it a big thumbs up and don't forget to subscribe to my channel if you want
to see more and I will see you in my next video, [Music] [Music]

The Girl from the Sea is sooo cute, I read it a couple years ago and loved it🥰 The Deep I just finished for BookRoast's yearlong readathon (Adventure in Aeldia I think it's called, the prompt for February was "water on the cover") and really liked it! The beginning was bit slow for me but once Yetu escaped I was hooked and finished in two days. I didn't realize there would be a sapphic relationship in it either and was happily delighted when that happened!🧜♀✨
I need to read the legendborn series! The cabin at the end of the world is one I have waiting at my shelves and I want to read it so I can watch the new film as well. I love the deep so much <3 Such a great book and the author is amazing. Oh no, you really didn't like the vampire books this month :( I also read the girl from the sea last month. It was sweet I agree but it moved too fast for me... so in the end it was just okay to me
🧜♀️💞 very good video! I didn't read any of them but i will love to read Garvey's choice
I really need to catch up on these books! I am starting to get into more thrillers and need to catch up on some horror books! Thank you for these recommendations 🤗
🧜♀🧜♀🧜♀ I also read Carmilla last month but gave it 2.5 stars. I was just as disappointed as you were. For a novella that inspired Dracula by Bram Stoker and Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice, the story and characters were quite underwhelming. After hearing your thoughts on why you dnf'd Interview with the Vampire, I am worried to pick it up. Maybe I'll like it, but I will keep your thoughts in mind as well.
You read so many books in January🥰🥰 I really have to read Legendborn because everyone says it’s great🥰 And the adaptation of the cabin at the end of the world came out at the beginning of the month and I really want to see it because it was made by a director I really like but unfortunately I have been so busy so I didn’t have the chance to see it yet😭 And omg it’s so sad about can’t let her go😭 Also interview with the vampire seems to be disgusting why didn’t people mention that and only said it was great?????😭 And I really have to read school for good and evil since I really liked the adaptation🥰 And it was a reread and it’s one of my favorite books but my favorite book of January was red, white and royal blue by Casey Mcquiston haha🥰
