Janina: I met horror when I met Russo.. Russo: The genre not like you know, the feeling. Bowser: Yeah right right. Bowser: He terrified you! Janina: Yeah, yeah he's terrifying! Russo: There are forces! There are things in this world Russo [CONT]: we do not fully understand! Janina: So I was like, "I just really love art, you know, I'm like an artist." Janina: I'm making fun of myself because I understand how ridiculously stupid this sounds now. Janina: I had just thought I had an idea of what
horror was, and Russo was like "yeah, so um, horror is art." Janina: And I was like yeah "but I just like really like things with like meaning" and you know I don't know what the hell. Janina: And he was like "yeah you can literally still do that in this genre so you're wrong." Russo: Yeah, this was like right after the time like  you know Ti West and like um uh what's his face? RUSSO [CONT]: from "You're Next" and Adam uh oh Bowser: Wingard Russo: Yeah, yeah, like they started coming out like R
USSO: like to me that is the start of like the golden  age of horror. I like know that there's like ... Janina: 100%! Russo: people... I think it just happened like six years ago but it actually started uh Russo: like much sooner than that. Janina: Yeah there was a community of filmmakers who were Janina: basically saying we're gonna make this whether anybody lets us or not and the stuff that they Janina: were making were really interesting artful stories that happen to be in the horror genre a
nd um so we Janina: we sat down and started watching a ton of things and it was just ... I mean it's embarrassing to think Janina: about now but you know i was i just happened to be watching um the opening of one of the new American ... Janina: Horror Story television shows and it had one of the samples of the sounds from the first season Janina: and I had a flashback to being like "I certainly  can't handle how creepy this theme song is. The Janina: whole thing is terrifying. I must skip over i
t." That was like the first season of American Horror Story. Janina: which was what like seven years ago or something. I was such a little baby and now i'm like jaded and Janina: I'm just like yeah... Russo: I'm so just desensitized. Janina: It's like i went to horror film school, you know!
