one. It is an absolutely gorgeous day for Game two of championship weekend as the six day Boys state championship game between the Bentonville Tigers and the Springdale Harbaugh. I tell you what, this is a game that I think a lot of people have been looking forward to. I'm RJ Hawk, along with Carl Decker. Mom and Carl, you know, you look at who we thought was going to be in this game, right? Yeah. I think that's sort of the biggest storyline coming into this one. All four teams in the six eight
semifinal, those were six eight West teams. But Rodgers, who has been the most dominant team all season in our state's largest classification, was knocked off by Bentonville to get here. In fact, Bentonville knocked off Conway and Rodgers on back to back nights in Cabot in the playoffs. It's been absolutely amazing. And I think another storyline, these are two teams that have been knocking at the door for a championship and haven't quite gotten there as of late. One of them's going to come away
with a state title today. Well, we'll first start with Bentonville Tigers and this is a team that it's been like a rite of destiny. Let's look at this bracket on how they got here. And we'll start with Harbaugh first. So Harbor went with the they got that first round bye and then they moved to Springdale and won that game 8 to 1. And then Harbor beat Heritage 8 to 3 before finally making it to the championship game against Bentonville and for Springdale Harbor College. I mean, they've done a lot
of really good things during this tournament that, you know, they come in 27 and six. On the year Dustin held camp. They lost in the semifinals last year. But let's look at Bentonville now. Is Eli McCall's out here getting ready? Yeah, it's the guy who does it all to 99 batting average, 24 RBI, a team high, ten doubles, second most innings pitched on this team as well. In fact, started the semifinals against Rogers. So there's a good chance we see him today. Well, let's look at this Bendle team
from last year because they were in the state championship game and they played Conway in what was an awesome game between both these two teams and Beal just really got it done. Conway jumped up that 9 to 3 lead early on. Yeah, you and I called that game. In fact you remember and yeah lost last year to Conway 10 to 7 Bentonville has a couple of state titles Oh two and 15 It's their fourth state title game appearance. They were a darkhorse for sure in these playoffs. And here they are. Well, her
e comes the Wildcats of Springdale Harbor. And as we were talking about with them, 27 and six on the year and they've got some do it all players as well they have a couple of future Razorbacks one of whom is Ross Felder team high 387 batting average 26 RBI 2442 RBI a run and six shutout innings before allowing a two home runs in the final frame of an eight three win over Heritage in the semifinals. That's somebody who does it all. But yeah, a couple of former Razorbacks and a couple of future Ra
zorbacks, I should say, on the South Harbor team will be fun to watch. Yeah. You know Felder 103 strikeouts this year and you know, we just looked at that harbor bracket. Let's look at the Bentonville bracket real quick. And for Ville, they start off with Jonesboro, won that game seven of four. Then they played Conway. That was that rematch of the state title game. And then, of course, the five one win. That was kind of a shocker that everybody saw against Rogers to get here to take on the Harbo
r Wildcats. And so looking for a great matchup today. But boy, it's going to be an uphill battle with Ross Felder on the mound. 103 strikeouts in 62 innings of work .59 ERA, as you talked about just a moment ago. Not at all on the season. He's only given up two home runs all season long, two batters in the west. And so going to be a lot of fun to watch him. Yeah Coach Dustin Camp says he is what you expect. He takes the ball in big games for three years. Now. This is a guy who has the makeup of
a big game pitcher. They used him throughout the playoffs. He's been superb. You mentioned those dazzling statistics all season on the mound. He's going to be fun to watch you. Well, we are about sitting ready to go for this matchup between Bengal and Springdale. Harder than Bill really thinks. So people have charges against Eli McCall, Brooks Hazen Klaver Carter nine. Boyce Reed. Rowan Christianson. Casey Crist and Connor Adair as their lineup for this ballgame. Springdale Harbor. In the infiel
d, you've got Cornelius at third base. You've got Kellen short, Acuff is at second, Sprague is at first. Seale is behind the mound or behind the plate. And then in the outfield, Austin Jones. Dillon Gibson and Jeffrey Zachary are in the outfield. Today's weather. Let's go ahead and take a look at that for today. As you see the Wildcats defensive alignment for this ballgame. But the the the weather for this one, the high today was going to be 85 degrees in that first game that we had in the one s
tate championship game here. It was around 74. It was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon. We'll take this weather this time of year, won't we? Just absolutely great. We know how much hotter it can feel on that turf, but we'll take this weather right now. Yeah, but right now, the temperature hovering around 80 degrees, a light wind rolling in and we're just about set ready to go for baseball action. 75 is the exact temperature right now with the two mile an hour wind at for the game here in Conway.
We are on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas as this is this will this will be a game that is really going to weigh heavy on one team cow and that being the Bentonville Tigers. They lost a teammate earlier this year, death in the family saying he was a big time player for the state. Now, Stephon Gray Scavenge started a few weeks ago, fell off a bluff at Beaver Lake up near Eureka Springs just two weeks before graduation. He had signed to play at eastern Oklahoma. In fact, his cous
in plans to still play at eastern Oklahoma in his honor. And certainly this entire team playing for him today. So heavy hearts in that Bentonville dugout. And we are just about set and ready to go. Is JJ Spath is the second baseman. He's going to lead things off for Bentonville who come in 2012 on the year they beat Conway, they beat Rogers in consecutive nights and we are just about set and ready to go is the first pitch is fouled off its own one. Yeah it's a Bentonville team they started eight
nine after a loss to Fayetteville on April 4th. They are 13 and three since these really are two of the hottest teams playing curve ball, Mrs. High goes one and one, but they turn Summit upsetting Conway rematch of last year's championship Big deal you upset Rogers the team that has been number one all season really Ferguson has a fired up Stafford who's hit by a purchase Barford gets hit and it'll be a lead off man on the bags and so that'll bring up Bodie Gibbs. The left fielder just comes in
with a 351 average eight RBI on the year. He also has a home run leads the team with that 351 average 500 slugging for 35 on base percentage. He's going to show bunt gets fouled on the left field side and he'll star in the hole and one Eli McCall's on deck and what's up move up Brooks Hayes Hazen Clover is the cleanup man today for fans without a dog in the fight. How much fun to watch. A couple of future Razorbacks here, one of whom is on the mound. Ross Felder showed one again. But it's a str
ike and it'll go up to nine. In old record, 62 and two thirds innings pitched 103 strikeouts. Opponents hitting just 120 against him this season. Here's the swing in the miss first down here in the first inning. That's the 104 strikeout this season for Ross Fielder from and that'll bring up Eli McCall now the third baseman padding to 99 with 24 RBI three home runs He's had ten doubles this year bat earned first base for Bentonville that swung and fouled off Bentonville is coming up swinging agai
nst Felder, aren't they. Yeah. They're not scared. No I mean they they are coming to the plate with an approach of just confidence right now, you know, to sort of underscore the upset of beating those number one mounds. Bentonville had lost to them three times. This season to a tune of a 27 to 2 run differential. Yeah that you know and look take down Rogers that is a that is a stat I think Rogers was on like a 17 game win streak or something along those lines and Bentonville went in there with a
ll the confidence in the world and got it done Pitches up high Eagles count one and one. These two teams have played twice Harbor 191 and three one and the end of March. You know, Bodie are a J.J. Spafford is at first base not one to really run a whole lot this year. But right now Ross Felder's paying him a lot of attention. A big curveball in there called his strike. The great dish might go out first one two on the way that some on a missed hundred and five strikeouts down the year for Ross Fel
der and back to back K's here in the first many first baseman Brooks 305 strikeouts in six three and a third innings pretty pretty good as Brooks Hayes and flavors at the plate Hayes and flavors the first baseman today batting 246 and 11 RBI. You know overall on this Bentonville team they're not really a home run hitting team. You know, Eli McCall's got three gifts. He's got one, Stafford's got one and Christensen's got one. Outside of that. This is a doubles team. Yeah, a good hitting team is w
hat they are. Yeah. Here's the old one pitch. This is up high, and it's over here for him. It's hard to believe Bentonville has not won a state title since 2015. In baseball. Kind of hard to think. I mean, that is always pretty pretty good at baseball, you know, between them and Conway in the West. Yeah, well, it kind of dominated three, you know, right now. And that's going to hit the inside corner of the plate to go three and one. He works all part of the plate still at pitch, misses inside an
d will be a base on balls that'll move Stafford to second base as Courtney comes on and got an eye batting 301 this year with 16 RBI playing shortstop today for the Tigers, there's that big curveball in there for call and strike. Oh, one's on the way. Check swing. They're going to peel down the first. Yeah, they're going to say it's a ball. Oh, go one and one. They're on deck is voice Reed Another one once bounced back and it's now one, two keep sort of underscoring this improbable run for Bento
nville I mean they were ten and seven in the 60 West Yeah behind Rodgers Harbor and Heritage You know we haven't said it enough, but Spring Harbor, they're riding a 14 game win streak right now and they are a great hitting team. Here's a12 pitch that misses the outside core of the plate is to a good yeah yeah. He moves that thing over about an inch and a half and it's in there. Two two's fouled away. There have been a few pitches in this top half of the first that I think could have gone either
way. Now they've shown some great command over two outs here in the top of the first inning and that's a big curveball. Swung on and missed and all three ounces hitting were good because of a strikeout. And for Bentonville, they get to record one one no hits in the inning as we head to the bottom of the first inning. Scoreless ballgame as you're watching the Centennial Bank state baseball championships in Arkansas, PBS Sports for every moment, for every memory from that first car to your first h
ome to your first child and all the highs and lows that tomorrow, my break for everything that matters most to you and your family. There's someone here in the corner dedicated to helping you protect what you love. Your local farm bureau insurance agent, Farm Bureau Insurance, real service, real people. This month on Arkansas PBS because I loved it. Find out if Leslie loves it, too, next time on Antiques Roadshow from Little Rock, Arkansas. At a time when America has become increasingly divided,
it's important to consider the things that connect us. His vision is broader than the American Revolution. The things that he spoke of that he wrote about had a certain amount of power only on Arkansas PBS. Let me take you for a ride on the big slide. Let's go. GRIFFIN Like a funeral home, is a proud supporter of Arkansas. PBS Sports serving the Conway area, located at 1751 Debord Drive in Conway, Griffin Leggett proudly serving our communities in central Arkansas since 1936. When we enter the
bottom of the first inning, where Springdale HARDBALL will have their shot at the plate as Ross Felder, Caleb Keller and Luke Cornelius will lead things off here in the bottom of the first inning. And Ethan, Pain is our starting pitcher today for the Bentonville Tigers. He comes in with a six and two record in 53 and a two thirds innings of work. He's got a 3.39 era with 46 strikeouts this year. And he will do all the damage today for the Bentonville Tigers. Look at that. Let's look at that. Def
ensive linemen for the Bentonville Tigers as on the infield. You've got to call it third night short, Spafford at second and Hazen and Claver is that first in the outfield you've got Gibson left, right and center and they're in right behind the plate is Rowan Christianson. And so we're about sitting ready to go as Ross Felder is going to lead things off, as he'll take a fastball a little high. And that goes one and on how you could pay. And the only senior in the starting lineup for Bentonville,
he is facing a horrible lineup that has outscored opponents 215 to 72 this year. They hit 305 as a team. Here's a shot that's headed back to center field is Reed's going to find it and put it on for the out the harbor team they've had some guys injured got some guys back starting to hit Well now coach Justin help camps. This is a team playing its best baseball right now. There's certainly no doubt about that. You're exactly right. Caleb Keller is going to be up next. He's the shortstop today, b
atting 338 with 13 RBI. And he also has nine stolen bases this year as a senior there. He's in. He's a stunted short, so he's really, really good runs the show up the middle for this team, a team that plays great defense and it starts with him at short. Next, pitches outside of the ball. Here's a foul off six and two record for Paine Just 26 earned runs in 53.2 innings pitched this season. One two up high and it's now one and two. Another strikeout guy, 46 strikeouts in 53 and two thirds. That's
I mean, these are absurd numbers we're seeing for both pitchers. One, two swung on and found on a play. He's really he's on Felder's pace maybe not one of six, but he's up there tattoos account hands outside as they take the count for a three and do Here's the offering and it's a pine of a walk to Dillon Blue grimaces. He's the third baseman today, only a sophomore, batting three 3730 RBI four home run He's had a triple and 13 doubles this year as a sophomore. This is the other Razorback commit
as of last October. Here's a hard hit ball out of the shorty boots. It goes into left field and they're going to try to take third and do they got Keller all the way over to third base. And so Cornell is will be on because of the error of the shortstop some aggressive base running back in right FIELDER Yeah. Just gets by that a little bit of room to roll there out to left but that is an aggressive take from second so now that brings up Jeff Zachary the right fielder batting 371 with 29 RBI five
home runs. He's also had a triple this year with 11 doubles. He'll take a strike on the outside corner, honors it first and third as the curveball misses outside of the two hard 2 minutes, we're going to see a few more for Lone Oak on Saturday. You start looking through these games, you're reminded of the incredible talent in this state. Yeah, well, up. Here's a11 curveball. Miss his high. He's just not been able to get over on top of that curveball yet. What it feels like when he's at his best
. The ball has a way of kind of popping right out of his out. Oh. Hits The turf is a count to three and one on deck. Cole calls him the D.H. Zachary. By the way, team leader in home runs with five where he once popped up in the shallow right center field. Who's going to get it? It's the second baseman Hiccup who came out to make the catch, and it quickly got to the end to avoid a run. Stafford did a nice job there. Reed was coming in, batted, and the way he fell, I'm not sure that there was. Let
's take another look at this. He sees Stafford moving out there Reed coming in doesn't. I think Reed was calling for it and then slides to kind of prevent himself from colliding with Stafford. Well, either way they've got two outs now here in the first, as Cole Carlton comes to the plate, he's batting 202 on the year with 16 RBI. Nice job, by the way, to jump up and get that one back in the infield. Hold the runner right there is a curve ball. It's in there for a strike and a little bit command
issue so far in this one, trying to get the curve ball to turn over and he was able to get it right there by down 30 hard hit ball chopped out to short. They go with the easy back in second and that's going to retire Palmer in their half of the first inning as they send five players to the back they strand too and that's how we're going to be in the bottom of the first inning. 're focused on what matters. That's why we've made our hamburgers square. When you want to experience the delicious taste of Wendy's hamburger squares, the beef will score this ball game as we go to the second inning as here's a strikeout package that I mean, we just saw some domination at the mound earlier by Springdale Harbor's Ross Felder. I mean, he was just the three outs. They're there in the first. It was just all domination with a strikeout. And so now Bentonville come back up with their
six, seven, eight hitters and boys Reed, Roland Christiansen and Casey Crist now strikeouts 104105 and 106 on the season. First pitch to Reed is high. What hard hit ball on the second and make throw away the four three put up by Karl Rove right who's our umpires today. Well Justin Yates is the home plate umpire Jason Long at first base and Ian Hewitt, our third base umpire. They're handling all this six eight state championship stuff right now. At the plate, you've got Rowan Christiansen is goi
ng to take a pitch up top to make it one, two, up to 46 hitter, but a 467 on base percentage. He leads the team in walks he is he is one of the top catchers in the state. Christensen runs the show for BetMGM and there's a swing and a miss. So he counts one and two curveball and checks swing. They're a little down to first. And I say he didn't go. And we talked about how maybe a surprise to see one, if not both of these teams in this game but the individual talent on both these rosters. I mean, t
here's a reason they're here. Curve ball misses low thanks to count for three and two. He is real effective with that curveball he is and with the way he is. He began this game with a hit by hit batter. Yeah, that one goes height and tight and that would be a base on balls in the park right? So now Casey Christ is at the plate. It's a guy who's been invaluable for Bentonville, Big two RBI hit to make it three one in the semifinal win and then a basket catch over his left shoulder with the bases
loaded in that same game. So Christ at the plate with a 233 average, 14 RBI takes the ball to start things off. And he's a sophomore. It's a it's a Bentonville lineup full of juniors, one senior, a couple of sophomores, but certainly hope to win today. They see a pinch runner as a team is going to return everybody. Yeah, two balls, no strikes. There's a fastball. It catches an outside corner. So it's now two and one. Christ is the eighth batter in this line up and he'll hit that one foul. It was
just foul. Yeah, just got over that one. So two balls, two strikes count right there sits on deck as there's one out here. The second curveball. Bounce it and I want you to count it two and two. The Tigers team still looking for their first hit, even though they've had three baserunners, 2 to 1 Garcia shortstop got their first base hit. Now, as that'll put runners at first and second here, the second inning, well, that hole had bad. That was a pretty good battle. And you could tell that Leader
Price was seeing the ball pretty well and that at bat got a hold of a couple of them and you could sort of figure, boy, if he could straighten this out just a little bit, he'd have a chance. So now, Conner Ray dare the right fielder Zombie bats to 86 with nine RBI this year he'll be on with two runners on one out here in the second as he fouls the first one on the fourth five oh ones high. Throw down the first and he's back safely. Well Conner right here gets on they'll be back to the top. The l
ineup with J.J. Spafford. There's a foul tip off the foot. Talked a lot about Rodgers. If Harbor was a team to begin the season, ranked number one and their coach points to a loss to cross-town rival Springdale and said they started swinging a little bit better afterwards. Got some guys back there. These are two deep teams. Harbor has a lot of depth, curve ball misses high wanting to one of their that goes up high so three balls two strikes and that base is high. He'll be on the bags We've got b
ases loaded for the top of the order, too. You can see the frustration there from Felder. They were boys making worse came into this game. RJ with just 25 walks on the season to those 103 strikeouts. Now already four in this game, there's no doubt they're staying with him. I mean, this is this is their guy. This is the guy who Cattell camp says has the makeup of a big game pitcher. This is the guy they turn to in every big situation. This is who you trust to navigate out of anything. Yeah. And,
you know, we saw in that first game in the one eight game, I mean, they had some, you know, their their stud pitchers, they had some issues early in that game and, you know, between nerves and just getting everything rolling that it just takes an inning or two to really get settled in but get to know the six most compelling and influential authors, musicians and more in Southern storytellers. Starting July 18th on Arkansas PBS, Curveball swung on and missed. And so in one, he's two teams hoping
for a story to tell. After this one, they have been knocking at the door for state championships. Harbor's played in this game 17, 18, 19 and 21 and won at all in 2018, and it was their fourth state title game in six years. Yeah, popped up on the right field side and it just followed in the dugout over the dugout and it's one and two, one. Go on. I lived in the outfield and that'll be caught by the left field for the second out, but it will score one for Bienville. I take that back. He said it w
as good school run. They actually he went half way and he he went back. I was really surprised because Christiansen came in. He went more than half the way and then decided turn back and then go back to third. It looked like it was deep enough to score him, see him pause and turn back. He didn't he didn't think he was going to catch it originally. So he never touched, actually. Right. That's exactly what happened. Well, that's one you like back there. Just too big a lead early on. I mean, you wa
nt to if you're sitting in that position, you ought to have a a foot on that bag just ready to go the minute he catches it. Sort of misread that pitch by the way they were calling for it high. That's right. Where Spafford was waiting for it. Here we go. Hey. Feels like Felder has fallen behind in a lot of counts in this game. Yeah. Here's a tool that's swung on and it's lifted to right field. The right fielder is going to settle up underneath it and be zone three. And that's going to get Harbor
out of the inning. How about that? So Ben Bell said six batter to the play. They get two or one hit and they strand three. As we end the top of the second inning scoreless ballgame. And you're watching the Centennial Bank state baseball championships in Arkansas. PBS Sports. My campus gives me blueberry to count down to five starts in three. The Children's Clinic of Conway and Greenbrier is a proud supporter of Arkansas, PBS Sports, the Children's Clinic of Conway and Greenbrier, serving Conway and surrounding
areas with locations at 2505 College Avenue in Conway and ten Lois Lane in Greenbrier. So Springdale harbors at the plate with their six, seven, eight hitters. And boy, what a big they got to have a big jam that last inning by a bases load and they got out of it and here's a big hit to left field as giving chase for Bentonville the left fielder Cody gifts and he'll record the first down here in the second. Now it's a good run to get over there, shielding his eyes a little bit from the sun as wel
l. That's a nice job. Covered a lot of ground to get over there. Boy, what an opportunity squandered, though, in that last inning for Bentonville to leave three stranded. Common sense tells you you're not going to get too many chances against Felder like that one. No, not not to me at all. Is now Brayton Springs at the plate. And he'll take a first pitch that goes to the third baseman, boots it off his glove, and he'll have to hold it. So Springdale Harbors got a runner on here in the second inn
ing. Now batting center pillar Dillon Gibson. And we mentioned Bentonville, such a good defensive team, rare to see that ball gets in there for a strike and its own one to Dillon Gibson right on deck, Henry Acuff pitches outside and it goes one and one. That's funny Coach doesn't help Camper Harbor. This team is on a 14 game win streak and he said he it's not that he's superstitious but he does not want to count how many games they've won in a row. I think I would be the same way. Everybody know
s it's a lot. Everybody certainly feels pretty good in that dugout. It takes two one to do. And you know, there he is right there. He doesn't help camp, you know. But here's the thing, though. You've won 14 straight. They don't matter, though. It's all about this one game. You know, I wouldn't want to talk about that. It's been that way for the last few and there's a hit by Billy Gibbons. You get hit by the pitch. And so now Springdale Harbor's got two runners on right now. Batting second basema
n Henry Echo. But going back to that streak, I think that's something you probably talk about after the fact, right? I mean, after the season's over with, certainly not in the middle of it. I don't blame him. And you're right, whether it's ten or it's 40, all that matters. You've won one in a row at this point in the season. Henry Acuff is at the plate. Second baseman, and he'll chop one out, too. Sure. They're going to try to roll in at second. Got the win. And second, got to fastball just a si
x foot three double glove. What a big way to get out of the inning. And just like that, we're headed to the third no score between Bienville and Springdale. Well we go to the third inning now for Bentonville is no bri
ng to the plate there 345 hitters as a curve ball misses low for Eli McCall McCall struck out back in the first inning and that one swung on and come on it brings the count to and one up there hacking against Felder here There's another foul off of this one to wonder how about that I mentioned I there's a good chance we see in pitch a little bit later in this game he started the semifinals against Rodgers went five innings pitched well and boy they don't hate him too. Two balls, two strikes to E
li McCall fouled off down the first base side on deck is Brooks Hays. Claver Yeah Carter nine follows him If you get a little swing on gets in the hole on the left side of the shortstop and Ben Bell's got a base runner on just their second hit. That was a hanging, breaking ball remaining first, lofted out of the place. So now Brooks Hayes and was at the plate. He walked back in the first inning, Hayes and Claver with a 246 average this year with 11 RBI. No. Oh, what's frustrating is that last in
ning had to have been for Benton's relief three stranded. On the other hand, the silver lining is you've shown you can get to him. Yeah, No, I mean, he's and we thought we talked about in the pre game that I mean it's just a the pouring with with confidence right now. I mean here is not one Bentonville batter that is afraid of what Felder has done in this game. Look over here Dwight your how they know all about him coming into this game. Well oh does the count of Brooks Hazen flavor You're a bas
eball fan in the state. You've certainly heard his name. Oh, nice slide to go get the foul ball. Why not? You slide. You don't get dirty. Everybody wants to slide around the turf. Hands out, curve ball misses high, and it's one and two. Oh, my goodness. Blake Swing struck him out, partner. That is the fourth strikeout of the day for Ross Felder. Now batting throws up quarter nine. And so now corner nine comes to the plate He struck out back in the first inning a nice shot to left field but a sli
ding catch by the left fielder Alston Jones puts an end to it. And there's two outs here in the third. They've seen a couple of nice plays in left field by both teams now. Nice job to come in and get that one. And what could be sort of an awkward place to make a catch. Take another look here now batting 243, the rare two knee slide. You don't see those very often, boys. Reed is up next and he'll see a curve ball outside for a ball. Reed grounded out to the second baseman back in the second innin
g and that is going to go back behind him, get away from the catcher, Sam McCall, to second base. So two outs count. Now the boys read you are going there's a curve ball, four strike hits two and one. You got to think, though, that Todd Abbott third base coach right now he's he's saying you got a runner in scoring position if you punched this thing is in the deep center field. I mean you got almost one third a premium for this ballgame and he almost getting the green light to go to the given. I
think you're right just how good both these pitchers are. Maybe you take a few chances to choose a gown and he finishes them off with a strikeout. Ross Beltre gets two KS, he's got five for the day and we end the top of the third inning with a scoreless ballgame. You're watching the Centennial Bank State Baseball Championships on Arkansas PBS Sports and what many people would come from miles around, come to ninth Street just to see what it was like. I'm saying this was the mecca of entertainment

d encourage you to do the same and see her greatness. Well, we've got our high school All-Star and it's Angel Velasquez, who's at Cavite. He's a pitcher playing baseball, you see, as his future plans get that 3.4 GPA. And he is our Arkansas PBA sports all star for class six. It's Aiden Velasquez. Well, we head to the bottom of the third inning where Springdale Harbor is going to send up their 1 to 3 hitters. And Ethan is going to be back on the mound for Bentonville. First pitch to Ross Felder i
s high one. No curveball misses outside is now tuna mentioned Felder two for four two RBI Arun and six shutout innings in that eight three win in the semifinals. I think we've got a bloody nose over on the right side of the Brayden Sprague be a first baseman. I think that would bother you if you had that dish sticking to your nose where you're going first as that pitch goes high. Thanks. Down to three. Now, we could just tore off like a little piece of it. You got the whole Kleenex. Here's the t
hree. Oh, why hide it, miss? Oh, and Ross Felder is going to be on first base with a walk. Yeah. Think he may have gotten to Kleenex. Is there any thoughts on Taylor Miller? Well, he's got a little mustache on the side with that thing. Whatever stops it, I guess. I don't know how it's hanging on. I mean, we're going through it up in there enough. I mean, he's got a courtesy runner over at first base and the name of that for you here in just a moment. It looks like it's Brett. Which of the first
he gets back safely? Caleb Kellen at the plate. He's a shortstop today. He walked back in the first inning, eight stolen bases in the year for which tied for the team lead by five points for years. The one who was assigned to the first team back say of I guess is not going to block your vision is it. You know sometimes you have something on the tip of your nose, you sort of see it. Yeah, tie it down. A show bunt pulls it back. It's three now. Good time. Christensen's to go out there and talk to
Paine here on a three account problem. He's thrown six straight balls now. He said, Well, if you're Keller, you're just going to stand up there with a bat on your shoulder at this point. I mean, he's not able to find the zone, and that one misses high and it's back to back walks, and that'll move Felder to second base. And Keller got a first and now you've got Luke Cornelius, someone at the plate who got because of an error of the shortstop back in the first. Let's fix this here. And it looks li
ke we are going to have a pitching change. So as we do want to remind you, hide away. Peter's a proud supporter of Arkansas, PBS Sports covering Conway and the central Arkansas area. At 1170, South Road in Conway. So it looks like he started so well there. R.J. just sort of lost his command a little bit there in the last couple of batters. Well, let's go out and take a break while we find out who our new pitcher is. And they get all get the mound all squared away. You're watching the Centennial
Bank State baseball Championships in Arkansas. PBS Sports. What is it you're looking for this time? The answer to a riddle so close to cracking the case. It's very Agatha Christie. This is just beginning. And then we can see it operate. And she has a surprise, of course. There it comes. Are you serious? I am serious. Oh, you're kidding. No, I'm not. Oh, your investment in this PBS station brings Antiques Roadshow into your home each week. Thanks for making it possible. And back here at the UK, t
he new pitcher for Bendle is Eli McCall. And he is worth 37 in a third innings this year. Got a three and two or three and one record, scuse me. And with a 1.50 era 33 strikes and 11 walks this year and he'll be your new pitcher for the Bentonville Tigers as he'll come in with no outs and runners at first and second. And Luke Cornelius is at the plate, very durable. McCall By the way, we mentioned we wouldn't be surprised to see him. Didn't think we'd see a decent early but he is used to this ro
le. 11 of his 13 appearances have come on in relief, 33 strikeouts to 11 walks this season. First pitch, Cornelius is ripped to left field. That's it for a base hit rounding third gonna sit him in the scoring gets from the left fielder that's going to send in another run two to nothing Springdale Harber after Kellen Felder coming to score those will be charged to ease in pain running right field yes certainly expect one to score but you expect to play that off. A couple bounces there, but just t
akes kind of a wicked one at the last moment and gets under the glove of guest. I think you'd score that as a single but then because he's able to get to second base that's because of an error of the left fielder Nick and so now Jeff Zachary's at the plate and that was lifted to center field coming in to make the catch. It's going to be Boyce Reed and that'll be the first out here in the third third. So now, Cole, Colton's at the plate the way oh gosh, for Bentonville, you have threatened left t
he bases loaded. You've had so many chances now suddenly find yourself down to nothing. No, Let go. So, Cole Carlton, the D.H. is at the plate runner and second ball hits Terrapins. One, two. No, here's a10 offering. Curveball hits the turf again at Swan and fouled off the two count two and one. Oh, Tiger. Well, do you recall here you just try to reset. Here's the two one that swung ripped to left field for a base hit. They're going to send the runner home. He's going to score the Cole. Cole Car
lton's going to get second base. It's going to be an RBI double. But some good swings on the call since he's come in. Go deep enough. Now you're going to have Caleb Silvas at the plate, Bertuzzi running it on Luke Alton, not only catcher David Silva, Caleb Silva, who fly to left field back in the second inning, had a swing on out to second base. He dropped it very safe. Things are falling apart for Bentonville right now. Well, they sure are normally a good defensive team. Bellville, we've seen a
couple miscues in the field here. This is one that ten times out of ten Stafford gets over to first. So now Blaine, Brayton Sprague is at the plate. He got on because of an error of the third baseman last inning out go here's the first pitch to Sprague Curveball Swan and missed good curveball that time going out there is one out in the inning here's a curveball and so on its own two we've got one out here in the third inning. Paul is outside. It goes one to you out here. That's tough situation
here from a call you'd come in with two on you love to try to navigate out giving up just those two but boy to somehow escape out of this holding him at three would feel like a win and a curveball. So on a mismatch, there's two outs down here in the third and down and that'll bring up Dillon Gibson, the center fielder. He was hit by bench back in the second. Gibson ground for a curveball. This is high two big one two for Bentonville on the mound. Payne and McCall right here is the one Oh when it
swung on out the second he slides, going to try to make the throw, but he can't. He's going to score a run. Now the Springville is going to have runners at first and second. That's a tough play. Not much you can do about that. Try to prevent it from going in the outfield and hold the runner there. Second baseman Eureka. So now Henry Acuff, the second baseman, comes to the plate. He hit in that double play earlier in the second. Just hard to get it to you from the glove to your throwing hand and
try to even make a play have swung on and fouled off so far. Springdale Harper scored four runs in that, setting off three base hits. The curve ball swung and missed the count on to boy when he's got that curveball working It is a good looking curveball. I'm just about to say that it feels like he's gotten it working over the last couple of batters a little bit more. Oh two pitch had swung on high job right back at the mound. Step and throw and it's over. But not until Springdale Harber They pu
t up four runs on three base hits. They strand two we head to the top of the fourth inning in the top of the fourth inning where Ben Ward will try to tie things up. Hotel accommodations and sponsorship for the 2023 Arkansas High School State Baseball and championship broadcasts are provided by Hilton Garden Inn at 805 Amity Road in Conway and the Home to Suites at 820 Building Drive in Conway. Oh, and at the top of the fourth inning. As for Bentonville, they've got their 789 hitters up. Rowan Christianson at the plate right now we going to be a hotel and a restaurant here in Conway. Oh, crowds coming through. Imagine
a lot of Taylor fans walking through historic downtown Conway right now and get some lunch before the softball game tonight. By the way, couple softball games. Follow us here at Arkansas, PBS Sports, Taylor, Bradley, later, Cabot and Bryant. Coming up next. It's going to be a lot of fun. Here's a three year old fastball at the knees, Carl, The strike Yeah, that Bryant also, they kind of had a shocking run as well through the state tournament full count of three do now nobody expected Bryant to b
e in the state title game of softball. Javits developed a little bit of a powerhouse for sure. Yeah Portland's our score here as is a32 count that's up high and it'll be a leadoff walk to row and Christensen ball for Ben Bendle you've had a runner on and everything. You had the bases loaded in the second you have had your chances for sure. Well, and had they had the runner tag at third, they would have scored a run when the ball was hit the outfield. Well, 33 runner on the 14, they ran only down
. We've got looks like we've got a pinch runner at first base for Bentonville. Five men left on base by Bentonville. Casey crisis at the plate now hit a base hit back in the second and Bryson Dillon is the pinch runner. It's empty pen down there right now. Nobody's hanging out for spring. No, This is your big game pitcher. Yeah, there's no no doubt about it. And it's tuna. Well, I mean, he's your big game pitcher, but in the last seven pitches, he's thrown five bean balls, which is not unique to
this inning. He's had his command issues throughout the whole game and the throw count to Casey cries and you just look down him come down, guys, and work together. I think there is such a thing sometimes as being effectively wild. And we've seen that I think at times in this game work to his advantage. I think you're right, because if he gets a batter on with two strikes, he knows that he can put it out with a curveball. He's shown it so far. He's got some guys to chase. Allen swung on and fou
led off down the leftfield side. So now you've got your two strikes, you're at three and two and you got to make them make a batter, make a decision for the pitch. So slide. I thought it was funny when Coach Justin Help Camp said he has the make of a big game pitcher. I'm kind of thinking, exactly does that mean? But you sort of see it. Yeah. In the way that he pitches and here's the three two that sort of lifted the left field that's going back towards the wall and he'll be able to make the cat
ch about eight feet from the wall. And so that's the first down here in the fourth inning. Now batting right fielder Conner either so now Connor Akers at the plate and Conner walked back in the second inning. He gave the ball good, right? Oh, I sure did. I think he was watching that. He thought I had a chance. Pitches low for the first. He's back. That's a big ballpark. Lot of foul territory, as we've mentioned. It was good to have these games in Conway, though. Yeah. I mean, I was partial to be
ing able to walk out the baseball park and into the softball park to watch both games, but that's okay. I just got to drive across campus now and Benton has a quite the facility, but I think there is something to holding these on a college campus. You know, you give it that feel. Yeah. No, I mean, you're right. I think honestly, though, I mean, at the end of the day, they can have this game on Mars and. The fact that these kids are getting to play for a state championship, that's probably the th
ing that means the most over, I think answer. I think I actually like that kind of cool play game with Mars, but it would be neat. Here's the one. Oh, and call it a strike. They tore it down and came don't deliver second base or did they? Well it didn't. They got him on the backside as he was sliding. So I call him save at second. Let's see this here. Nice Jump up the catcher. Oh drop of it. Yeah. That was hard to see initially, no matter what. So now you've got a runner at second base one to co
unt the plate for eight air. No curveball in there called strike three. Strike out number six first court looking k the day I think recently JJ Stafford So now back to the top lineup as you've got JJ Spafford coming in to play with two outs and put down a dragon so and one you'll see that very often with two outs no curve ball misses inside and it's one and one Stafford heading to 67 342 on base percentage as ball misses low and away counts two balls one strike There's two outs here in the innin
g Oh and as a checks swing that is called the strikes amounts two and two have to do two this is outside. Oh well he's going for that same part of the plate that he just got that strikeout call. Oh, three balls, two strikes. Curveball swung and fouled off. I know he struggled with command at times, but he just has the look of a pitcher who's who's going to play at the next level. Well, you start getting some of the development of those college pitching coaches. And here's a32 Swan lifted high th
e left field can coming in as the left fielder Jones has got it and that's going to do it for the inning so Bienville sends four to play They get one of them on but can't do anything with that runners. We head to the bottom of the fourth inning where Springdale Harbor leads it four to nothing. You're watching the Centennial Bank State baseball Championships on Arkansas. PBS Sports. A lot of people to thank, as you and I mentioned in that first broadcast, a hard working crew working around some hurdles along the week and they've done a great job to get everything set up to bring you these baseball and softball championships this weekend. Ross delivers at the plate as he's got a11 count on him now. Curveball swung on it. Thanks. Count to one and two. So from a call here, RJ, you
sort of you get a clean slate this inning. You came in the last inning with a couple of guys on Give Up four to earn from a call and swung on out to third hopper big throw cross good sales high and we're all builders on beer and they scored on an error because it was a high throw but he was pretty much already there by the time the ball got there. I think that's a tough play to make. I'd give him a hit on that one. Tough throw across the diamond, Richard. That's a tough play. Either way, though,
we have seen I won't call it a miscue from Fielding because that's a tough play to make, but it falls in line. It's just some now, some tough hops here and there and some some tough plays for the Bentonville defense. So Caleb Keller is going to be at the plate. He's walked both times. He's been up today and lays down a bunt right back to the pitcher's mound. They'll throw the first get the out that Olson Felder to second base. Now batting third baseman Luke Wilson so so now Luke Cornelius is go
ing to be at the plate and a base hit to left field back in the third. No defense working curveball is going to be in there. Call the strike and we'll see in a second here, maybe in between that bat. But you've been able to see that bleached hair. Yeah, everybody's got it. Everybody's got it. Must be the new trend in high school. It's not just Fielder curve ball swung on and it's off the third baseman. He'll pick it up and throw it. They do get the out but he has a hard hit ball that went off th
e third baseman that time and he was able to recover. That's a nice play there to still get the out. Now look at this This is how you win 14 games straight right fielder It's like a bunch of him and helps So now if Zach Cruz at the plate and that swung left to center field that a score run Oh it's an RBI single for Jeff Zachary with two outs here in the fourth inning here and now Cole Carlton will be at the plate. He had a double back in the third inning home run and runs his second. He's saved
stolen base for Jeff Zachary heads up right there work so runner in second now Carlton's got him a12 count that's swung on right at the third baseman again He throws across the diamond, take it to third out. So that's going to do it for Springdale Harbor. They score one run in the inning. They do get two base hits. They strand one. We head to the top of the fifth inning. You're watching the Centennial Bank State Baseball Championships in Arkansas, PBS Sports and this month on Arkansas, PBS. The
more time I spend in nature, you realize how fragile everything is. Give nature a chance and will come right back. That's what we're asking for, is to give the right well a chance. We proudly support our local female athletes and encourage you to do the same. See her greatness. We are going to start. Well, how did we get to this score? Five to nothing. Well, Bentonville, they were just kind of back and forth there. In the first part, nobody seemed to scratch or cross to run in those first couple innings. And then probably the
third inning was all Springdale Horbury had errors and base hits and run scored. They scored four runs in the fourth inning or excuse me, in the third inning and then in the fourth tacked on a couple more. And it's now five to nothing between Springdale Harbor and Bentonville on a miscue so far for the Tigers. Yeah, Bentonville has had their chances, but the bases loaded, they in fact, they've stranded seven. Harvey, meanwhile, strung together some hits and they were able to get pain out of the
game. And they have hit pretty well against McCall as well going for a five nothing lead. Here's a base hit to right field for Bentonville. Vote against Hoover. Well I think if you're harbored you get other arms but you are more than happy, especially with a five nothing lead to right field or this entire way hard. So Eli McCall goes up top and it's one, two, No. Six strikeouts on the day 109 on the season for Felder Harbor team that has swung on and lifted the left center field, coming over as
a center fielder and he'll make the catch for the first down. However, team that has been knocking at the door that won state title back in 2018, but they played in this game in 2017, 2019, 2021 for freshman Brooks and in Cleveland. Back for more here now Brooks Johnson. Glover is going to be at the plate. He struck out back in the third and. He fouls off first pitch time. He combined to a Harvard team that lost to Bentonville in the semifinals a year ago when Bentonville advanced to this game
and they wound up losing to Conway ten seven. And I think the Harvard players maybe don't say much, but certainly remember that semifinal game quite well. Right up the middle, the back steps on second throws. The first gets a double play. So a six story double play is going to end the inning for Bentonville and they go 1 to 3. We head to the bottom of the fifth inning. Coming up next, you're watching the Centennial Bank state baseball championships in Arkansas. PBS Sports Centennial Bank is comm

SportsCar Farm to learn. More facilities here and U.S.A. have gotten so much better over the course of
the last ten years. Boy, they have really updated and probably made some of the the nicest facilities at the mid-major level. Yeah, we have done a great job with all that. Athletics director Brad Jake's done a tremendous certainly you see the Sun logo down there, by the way, there's the softball fields that we'll see a little bit later for the Bryant versus Campbell championship game. That'll be coming up next here in Arkansas, PBS. But I mean, you know, whenever I was here, right. And this kin
d of dating myself didn't look nothing like this. There was no burn back on the back side. I mean, it was just what you'd see a normal softball field at the rec center. And they have really done a great job with that and in fact, hosted the University of Arkansas earlier this. And they've done a nice job, too, navigating sort of the changing landscape of college athletics, finding ways to increase revenue and invest back in these facilities. So here we go for Spring Harbor as Caleb Seale is at t
he plate. And the new pitcher for Bentonville, by the way, Carter Nunn. Carter Nye in there for Bentonville, sends one high. McCall and Payne, you feel for them because it wasn't that they got hit real hard. But there were some, you know, miscues in the field a little bit, just kind of one of those days for both those pitchers. Yeah, no, you're exactly right. That one sort of lifted the right field. That's a base hit for us. It doesn't matter who Barbour's facing, They have threatened in every i
nning. They really have. And almost every inning, three first baseman Reggie Jackson winning. So now at the plate, not any first baseman. You've got Braden Sprague at the plate for Springdale Harbor. He struck out back in the third, got on because of an error back in the second curveball missed his high and it's want to know that's effective but it's a little bit of a funky delivery from Carter night He kind of has a hitch and is getting up done he does know where to and those are the deliveries
you wouldn't necessarily call repeatable, but it doesn't mean that they're not effective. No, It's just like if you watch when he comes up with that, as he comes up into the windup and when he goes to plan, it's like a double kick when he goes down, it's swung and missed the pitch. Carter Nigh This season, 38 innings, ten starts. Oh seven and 317 strikeouts to 14 walks and he RF 2.5793 ones account. Here's the pitch to me low and to be a walk so now Springdale hovers got runners at first and se
cond chance to really break this one open and I'm heading center fielder now Dillon Gibson the center fielder is going to be at the plate got hit by a pitch back in the second and got a single to right field in the third. And we mentioned Harper hits 305 as a team. It really is one through nine of guys capable in the batter's box. He's going to show bunt with no outs and to get it down third base side good bunt long throw they get the out but he does advance the runners to perfection There secon
d baseman hands down Henry Acuff the second baseman comes to the plate like that too You got the nine hole hitter coming up before the top of the order. Good time to execute. He comes in with a curveball, a Harper team that now has outscored opponents to 20 to 72, all his turf friends, one and one. You know, again, we talked about Rogers being the most complete team this year, but Harbor was the team that was number one at the beginning of the season. In a couple rankings for and missed one and
212 pitch Curveball misses inside one as a two to slap foul after Henry Acuff. It'll get back to the top of the lineup with Ross Felder. One alley swing and a miss two outs down here in the fifth. And now Ross Felder is going to come to the plate. He got a base hit back in the fourth, walked in the third, and then fly to center field in the first. And he looked like the game pitcher, big game hitter as well. He's played some of his best baseball in the postseason big semifinal game team high 387
batting average at Swan chopped over the mound, shortstops able to glove it all out. At first it was a nice play and a good bit bail out of the inning and Springdale got to on but couldn't do anything with it. We head to the top of the sixth inning where Springdale Harbor lays it five nothing. You're watching the Centennial Bank State Baseball Championships in Arkansas. Now we head to the top of the sixth inning where Springfield Harbor leads it five to nothing. Carter, nine, Boyce Reed and Rowan Christiansen, t
he 1 to 3 batters for this inning and still on the mound. Dave They're going to keep going with Rosser Rosser Excuse me. No, that's it. FELDER Yeah. FELDER on the mound as the first pitch is skied down, the third base side goes out of play. And again, I think he's here. He's your big game guy. Not even a question. You stick with. And five certainly is not out of reach for this Bentonville team. Here's the old run swing board off the shortstop that time has Keller lost a handle on it And call it
nine is going to be on with because of an error That was a well hit ball. Yeah. Tough chopper right there off the chest to the field. BOY three just eats up. Keller Boy So now Boyce Reed comes to the plate. He's out for two on the day with a strikeout. It's a good thing they have numbers because you and I get used to sometimes seeing hairstyles. And yeah, you'll notice that when you're all bleached, it makes it a little more difficult. It's a little bit more difficult. It's kind of like a team f
ull of mullets, like they all look the same. Yeah, it doesn't help us. And when did the mullet decide to come back? Did it? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Everybody's got one. Everybody said, Oh yeah, it was really prevalent in football season. All these kids had. I guess they're in football. I can see it. Yeah. Yeah. I thought you been more in general. No, no, I'm not on the high grown dudes walking around. I'm just saying, like, I get the kid level. I think there's some football teams. State championships. I
t's all on the. It's. Yes, here's the oh two and that's fouled out of play. I don't know if there was a maybe a mom who died all the hair had to have been expensive. He took the whole team to get dad. Yes. I mean, with that thing, I've never done that. I wasn't the guy that had the cross tips when I was in high school. I never did that. Yeah, in zero two, that's guide into shallow center field. Coming in to make the catch is Gibson. So there's one out now here in the sixth Well it is getting lat
e early for Bentonville and five is not out of reach but you got to scratch a couple across here. You get the benefit of a guy reaching based on an error. And you've had so many chances in this game, you just keep going back when they stranded the bases loaded in the second inning, Rowan Christiansen sees one hit the turf. I think the number is up to seven of tigers left on base. Now. One is sort of a ride to right center field. Then again for a base hit go and Christiansen gets the base hit and
so now Bentonville has runners in first and third. And that's all you needed to try to string a couple of these together here. It was nice job by Gibson to play it off the bounce, get it back in the infield second baseman Casey Drive. So now Casey cries to be at the plate and a base hit in the second inning flied to left field in the fourth or curveball sales. High. But why is this one also fouled off? You know, think about Felder, too. It's not just like he's done it this year. I mean, he has
taken the ball and big games for this harbor team for three years now. One one is low and it's two and one. No, you're exactly right. But I mean, look at his numbers this year coming to this game. He works 62 innings. And we had a .59 era although outside the throw to first he's back safely easily and he came in with 103 strikeouts so far today you can add six to that So he's at 109 now 110 strikeouts in the season. It just yeah, it's hard to wrap your mind around and that's called a strike on t
he outside corner. Get a full count. I mean you're just shy of two strikeouts per IL. Yeah Yeah. Oh, no. You know, and that is swung on left to the center field and Gibson going to make the catch and make the long throw home then go go score one. So there's two outs down here in the sixth. That's a big run. Yeah. To get nine home Will remember reached on air on the shortstop. No play at the plate there and that has to feel like just getting your monkey off the back just a little bit for Bentonvi
lle when you've had so many chances to scratch one across. Here's a hit out to short and the throw over by killers. And there's three outs here in the inning. So Ben Mill does score one run Robert down one for one base hit. We head to the top or the bottom of the sixth inning. It's 5 to 1. So back here at the sixth inning, you've got the two, three, four hitters and Kell Kelly excuse me Caleb Keller leading off as. He's got a11 down Keller on the day has walked twice and then at a fielder's choice in the fourth scored one of those feels like everybody's been around the bases a little bit for harbor this game down off to the count it two apiece You know what it feels like this had so many chan
ces We keep talking about that and and they've had they've had guys on but they're four for 21 two hitting against Phil Yeah I mean he he has he has let some guys get aboard on walks but he has shut them down otherwise there's the pitch that's high and it's now three and two. I mean you got to string a couple of hits together and they've scratched four in this game quarter and I had a good first inning. Yeah, there's a walk It's a leadoff walk to Caleb Keller. So now you've got a third baseman,
Luke Cornelius, at the plate and he loves and today he had a base hit in the third that he later later came around to score and then grounded out to the third baseman of the fourth. That swung on out to short over the second back to go get the double six for three double play. So now Jeff Zachary's at the plate. Bentonville, RJ has four errors in this game, but feels like at least over the last couple innings they've made some plays. Yeah, that's the that's the second double play they've turned
this game. So Jim Zachary's at the plate. Here's the one that's fouled back and so on to Cole Carlton's on deck for Springdale Harbor and so for Bentonville you're going to have the top of the order coming up to try to scratch for a cross. It'll be spafford, guessed McCall. And I don't think there's any doubt we see Felder back out there for the toss I think yeah I would think he would come back out there and try to close this thing out. Here's one To have some of foul tip. You would love that s
tory. They go one, two, three. At the six, we head to the top of the seventh inning. Ben Mills going to get four runs to keep this game going. Oh, this is a game however fans might want to remember. And for a copy of any of the state championship games, go to M&M productions dot net to place your order. So the new pitcher for Springdale Harbor is Gavin Moore and on the year he's four and four he's got three sa
ves and has an air rate of point four, six, seven and that is in 45 innings of work and that is your go to Springdale Harbor pitcher to try to close things out. Goes to show you and I know right No nothing was done James matter So here we go. You've got the one, two, three hitters do up for Bentonville with J.J. Spafford voted yes and Eli McCall. And they have shown in this game Bentonville they're capable of getting on base. Well, so far, Spafford is oh for two on the day as he fouls that one o
ff guest on the day is one for he's one for three and then Eli McCall is one for three. So you one up if you're the tigers here's the old one Swan popped up in the shallow right field the right bill the he dropped it boy that time Jeff Zachary came all the way into the infield. He called everybody off, came all the way in the infield. He dropped it. I don't know if he got the second baseman. Saw that RJ just just gets out of the way last second. Zachary came a long way to get that. Yeah, no, I t
hink he got called off. Yeah, I don't think he initially saw an off the bat, but then he found where it was. And then by that time he got called off. So either way, Ben Mills got a runner on as the ball is sailing the low for Brody gift but will be in the hope of getting the home to correct ourselves. By the way, that's Sprague. Well, it's still Zachary. And right at Sprague and left Felder was at first defensive changes and here's the two of the ball inside that was able to take advantage of a
harbor defensive miscue in the last inning. Harbor's been able to do it all game. That's sort of been the story of the game for Harbor. You can bet they'll do it again here. And not to mention add to where he won the count. We're that swung on and left it in the foul territory and it's caught for the out great job that time by Cornelius and right and there's one out here the seventh Holy So now you've got Eli McCall at play tough play to make you know that cameras right behind you there in all t
hat foul territory up against the wall. Nicely done. So is it interference if he runs into the camera guy because there's no protection around the camera guy. I don't know. But it's expensive. Usually it's on the outside wall. Here's this one. It's live to do. Center field. And there's two outs. So Springdale Harbor, first, Mason Brooks there, one out away from claiming a championship. Brooks Hayes and Glover's at the plate. He's oh for two with a walk today and the first pitch come to him as a
strike right Curveball misses outside. It's one and one make for harbor You're knocking on the door doing here. You've been here five times in this game since 2017. One state title since 2018. Pitch away from your second foul. That one all comes down to one strike number. There's a 1 to 4 hitter. So now Ben Mills got runners at first and second as Carter nine comes to the plate. So Carter nine today struck out in the first he fly to left in the third and got in the sixth because of an error by t
he shortstop price in the loser and coming on to run for Hayes and clever is Bryson de Lozier at first base corner nine now corner and eyes up first pitches go strike line Here's zone one swung and missed a nasty pitch late movement Here's you two swung fouled back there 0 to 4 and fouled back once again He's doing a good job alive right at the TAPPER and for the catcher he throws down the first and he's done it and Springdale Hauber they win the state championship in class 6a1a game however had
the big inning in the third inning and that's what did it for that was they won it 5 to 1. We'll come back and wrap everything up, all the final numbers in this one. Welcome back here to U.S.A as Springdale Havre. They get the win 521 to claim the class six state championship over Bentonville and you see hugs, shakes and handshakes going around on the infield. And what a game, what a season really for both these two teams. Yeah this is just wholesome Bentonville the a team yo
u see the hogs there they caught fire and they believe late and they pulled off. What do you think a lot of people thought would be the impossible and knocking off Conway and Rogers and there is harbor you saw quite the dogpile celebration and the hugs continue here and for the sort of mission fulfilled at last when you consider they played in this game in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021, they have won state title to show for that run. Now make it two. So they've been knocking at the door for more so
many years and they finally get it done in 2023. You can say title the whole Wildcat, the Harbor Wildcats being announced as your winner for this one as they're presenting the trophy to them right. And how about the job by Felder today. He was he was outstanding. He was so good now, worked through some issues, worked through some command issues. But boy, the numbers speak for themselves. Six strikeouts in this game, 109 for the season is just absolutely absurd. Gaudy Gaudy numbers, no matter how
you look at it. For Felder, they turn to him in the biggest moment and once again, he delivers. Well, let's go out and take a look at the final numbers for this as really the the numbers alone were really impressive for Springdale Harbor and for Bentonville. See it 5 to 1 harbor hit as a team 304 today, hitting for Bentonville was only two 200 foot out, 21 to 18. But the four errors on Bentonville so far, it really came in that third inning where it really put them in a hole in that third game
with their. And that's what stands out right there. And you said it exactly when it happened that things are starting to spiral a little bit out of control for Bentonville. Let's go and take a look at the highlights for the ball game. In the first inning, it was a duel between both these two teams. They were going back forth and really it was scoreless all the way up until we got to that third inning. And in the third inning is when Harbor caught fire. It was just one after another. There's one
those errors we talked about, runs were scoring in that third for Springdale Harbor. They scored four runs in the third inning and kind of broke this thing wide and everybody was getting a hit in that that third inning. And then you move on throughout the ball game. And Kiley, just could never Bienville could never really recall. And you saw some of those. You just feel for them because they ate them up a little bit. I mean, just some hard shoppers. And every once in a while the baseballs, it do
esn't bounce your way. It just takes a hard crack right in front of you. And that was sort of the story of the game for Bentonville. And, you know, here in the sixth inning, this that was the only run. The Bentonville score was in the six. And they had their chances to remember. They had the bases loaded early in the game. And I think when it when they didn't get one of those across really came back to bite them. There's a live look over at the softball complex. It's coming up next. You've got t
he six eight softball finals between Cavett and Bryant. Ought to be a great ball game over across campus. And so stick around if you want to watch some great softball right here on Arkansas PBS is Kevin. Take it on Bryant coming up next. Well, Kyle, final thoughts for this one. This is a fun day of baseball. I think we saw two really deserving champions in Harbor and Taylor, congratulations to them both who were both both consistent all season and both the well-deserved champions are going to be
a lot of fun. Stick around for softball. Coming up next for Kyle, Doug Obama, I'm RJ Hawk. You've been watching Centennial Bank State Baseball Championships on Arkansas, PBS Sports.
