Auto thefts continue at Austin's airport

now last week we told you about a Georgetown woman whose truck was stolen from a parking lot at Austin's airport while she was out of town since then more people have reached out to C about their cars being stolen from airport parking lots while they were out of town K's Ford Sanders joins us live from the airport with how officials are responding now Ford qua Brian Austin Police say vehicle thefts around the airport and its lots have actually increased by about 80% from 22 to 2023 now we've act

ually heard from multiple Central Texans who tell us that their cars were actually swiped from airport official lots and garages I grabbed the key and started hitting the panic button and it was just quiet and I could see the car that I had parked next to was still there last week Amy sto told us her $100,000 truck was one of three stolen from an airport parking lot now Tony Ford says the same about her Nissan Ultima three in one day you know and mine shortly after I mean mine a whole week after

that Ford was gone for a week I was headed to uh Utah for my grandfather's funeral and after that difficult trip she returned to even more bad news I parked right in front of this chain link guard I'm like I know it I know I did was there another car in the spot there was another car in the spot we reached out to the Austin Airport about multiple car thefts at lots and garages around the airport in a statement a spokesperson wrote quote airport leadership has worked collaboratively with APD to

increase APD presence in our lots and garages and we have directed our parking management provider ABIA parking to increased surveillance patrols as well airport officials tell me they have cameras monitoring the Lots 24/7 Ford says she was told otherwise so I said what about this camera up here on the building up here and then they said uh I like how do you not have my car coming or going and that's when they told me that their security system hasn't worked in months Tony says her car was locat

ed and is in an inpound lot and her insurance company and the lot's workers told her it's in bad shape do we have do we know what the damages are and they said uh bad condition and I was like what does that mean and she said doors are gone seats are gone awful stuff right there with qu and Bri you know we had to actually come down I was actually intrigued so we went to the lot ourselves when you pull in you're going to get a ticket just like this I want to read you a couple things cuz I was inte
