we're getting our first look at a big bundle of joy at Disney's Animal Kingdom emphasis on big that's because Kora the 10th elephant living at the park is making her big debut and you can see her this new elephant calf on the kilamanjaro Safari's ride and she's a big deal here because African elephants if you didn't know are considered very endangered often killed by poachers new sixes eie Castro introduces us to the new baby it was an early start for this mother and daughter African elephant Na
dira and her two-month-old calf Kora made the first steps across the Savannah here at Disney's Animal Kingdom she definitely has motherly Instinct and there's also um the really wonderful matriarch and we have this um all female herds experts say Nadira had nearly a 2-year pregnancy and they were making sure she was strong and healthy throughout the entire time towards the end of the pregnancy what we are mainly looking for um is a drop in certain reproductive hormones and an increase in other r
eproductive hormones that take over born on December 13th cor weighs just over 300 lb she's known for being a bold little girl and you can say she's spunky too kaora also has a pretty big family we were there to see Grandma and some of her aunts join in all the fun we even heard them chatting among themselves when uh Nadira and Kora came out um she nadir was letting the elephants that were still back in the barn know that there was something exciting happening by the rumble and something that mo
thers can relate to is that at first cor's mom didn't want to bring her out because she saw the group of people out here and she was a little hesitant so she waited a few minutes and when she felt it was the right time to come out they did and now they're feasting away we spoke to Dr Scott Terell who said African elephants are considered an endangered species and explained the dangers they face in the wild the threats are primarily the ivory trade you know their tusks and habitat loss and human
conflict and so there are significant threats elephant populations continue to decline in Africa at Disney's Animal Kingdom eie Castro G A results news sex now she's the new Hidden Mickey got to find cor is cute yeah well
