Balloon Car | STEM Lesson Plan

This video is an introduction to the balloon car lesson plan from Science Buddies. Use recycled materials to build a toy car while learning about kinetic and potential energy in this fun classroom activity. To view written instructions for this project, see the "Balloon Car Lesson Plan" page at Science Buddies: http://www.sciencebuddies.org/lesson-plans/balloon-car?from=YouTube Science Buddies also hosts a free library of science fair projects, lesson plans, and fun activities for K-12 parents, teachers, and students. Here's a challenge: turn a pile of recycled and craft materials into a toy car. Then, add something to the car so it can zip along under its own power. You can do this using a balloon. When you inflate a balloon, it stores potential energy. When you release the balloon, this energy is converted to kinetic energy, the energy of motion. Attaching the balloon to a straw allows you to direct the escaping air to propel your car forward. Try competing with your classmates to build different designs an
d see whose car will go the farthest. To view written instructions for this lesson plan, click the link at the end of this video.
