Battle of the Modern Classics. Triumph T100 vs Moto Guzzi V7. Which Motorbike Should YOU go For?

We put the Triumph Bonneville T100 head-to-head with the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone (substitute V7 Classic) to find out which bike has the X Factor. Which has the character? The handling? The looks? The engine? The style? The Triumph T100 has the 900cc engine which has a very similar amount of power and torque to the 850cc Moto Guzzi. Both bikes are perfect 'real world' motorcycles, in that they are not overpowered, and they both are a joy to ride, so the question is, are you James Bond or Frank Grillo? Watch to see what we mean! It would help if you watch our individual reviews after wathching this, then come back and watch this a gain: Moto Guzzi V7 Classic Review. https://youtu.be/LZn5DpUdblg Moto Guzzi V7 Stone Review. https://youtu.be/oBDYQ7mNgjo Triumph T100 Review. https://youtu.be/bThlp3e1X84 Triumph T100 Final Review. https://youtu.be/aJMqFNRGq3E Become A Channel Member to get Early-Bird viewing of our latest videos BEFORE they go Public! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2E65t4gE62JGtaPXVtDM6A/join DARCY'S CAR CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/@Darcysdrive Our Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@Dad-n-Darcy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrdarcyandtheolman/ https://www.tiktok.com/@mrdarcytheolman BUY ME A COFFEE: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mdatom

here we have two modern classic motorcycles  head-to-head the Triumph t00 and the Moto goodsy V7 I want to find out how they compare  which might help you if you're looking for a modern classic motorcycle I want to start  by saying that both these motorcycles are absolutely fantastic so whichever one  you chose you certainly wouldn't be disappointed [Applause] now price the motor gutsy V7 Stone which this  one is is £ 8,200 the special edition is 9,50 and the V7 special is 8,600 or the corser £
9,50  the T100 starts at 9,595 UK prices and the Chrome Edition starts at 9945 so they're very similarly  similarly priced uh which is a good starting point the motor goodsy has 853 CCC and the Triumph 900cc  so they're also quite similar in terms of capacity we'll come on to styling and character and all  that sort of stuff in a minute and how they ride uh but let's start with the engine uh torque and  power because uh that's quite interesting uh the motor gsy has 65 horsepower and that Peaks
at 6,800 RPM whereas the 900 CCC TR has 64 horsepower which Peaks at 7,400 so the the goods's  got one horsepower more um and it sort of comes in a little bit lower in the river range which is  interesting because the motor gutsy has 73 Newton met of torque at 5,000 RPM that's 53.8 foot-  pound and the uh t00 has 80 Newton or 59 ftlb at 3,750 RPM and when you ride them you can feel  the difference because this has more torque lower down whereas this has much more mid-range and top  end so at low
er RPM if you open the throttle on this it's not ready for you whereas that is it's  it's there straight away um but when I was riding around the town at low RPM it's very at low RPM  so that sort of less torky powery uh feel at low RPM gives you a very easy to ride uh City bike  because it's not sort of snatchy or anything saying that though the Triumph is also very lovely  and smooth and it's not at all snatchy either in the UK we've got this horrible storm coming so  the wind is picking up an
d it's just rained and I've had to put everything away and come back out  so uh let's Soldier on now the sun to come out for 5 minutes let's just get all the figures  out the way quickly then we can get onto the emotive Elements which are much more interesting  uh this motor gutsy does 57.6 5 miles per gallon that's UK miles per gallon uh the Triumph does  a little bit more 68.9 MP gallon that's 57.3 USA 21 L Fuel tankk on the motor gutsy and a 14 1/2  ler fuel tank on the T100 the T100 weighs 2
28 kg or 52 whereas the motor gutsy weighs 22 23  kg so weightwise very similar aren't they very very similar both these bikes you can have them  uh detuned for A2 license for Europe now that's all the Specky bits out of the way let's get on  to the interesting bits I can't find the Ray and Trail figures for this but by looking at it the  forks are a little bit more relaxed than they are on the t00 and I like the handling on that because  I sharp steering is good in some senses but not in others
so you get a slightly more relaxed ride is  a little bit more stable a little bit less sharp in the bendz or wanting to turn in and I like  that so that's one thing that's uh noticeable now of course uh they both come in lots of colors  uh this has got some beautiful color schemes I love this particular one the uh green uh scheme's  beautiful uh this is the stone Edition and both Darcy and I prefer the special edition which  has uh spoked wheels like the t00 has got and proper uh dual analog ga
uges like this has got  these are beautiful to look at and when you're riding along the view of the motorcycle in your  peripheral vision or when you look down is just beautiful it's so classy whereas this uh Edition  has got that awful horrible ugly Digital dash thing offset terrible so as I said the special  has got the proper dials which we all love uh so that's a bit of a negative on that particular  one but some people might not mind it so if you like it that's great um it doesn't I mean it
's  still a fantastic bike it just spoils it a little [Music] [Applause] bit they are both lovely bikes to  ride I must say the uh Triumph Bonville T 100 has the 900 cc engine which I absolutely adore  it's my favorite Bonville it's just right for the everyday world it's not too powerful  it's got a lovely smooth Power Band and torque curve so you've got everything from low  down it's wonderful to ride as I said in this one you've got a little bit less low end but  a very lovely mid and top end
so if you open this up it's great everyone would probably agree  that the motor guts has got more character cuz this is very refined whereas the gsy it sort of  shakes when it's h sitting still like that it's got a lot more character the gear changes more  clunky but very positive it's not a fault it's just the way it does it whereas as I said this  is very refined think of it like this the motor gutsie is Frank gillo very good-looking very cool  well-dressed smart sophisticated but when he open
s his shirt there's a bit of muscle there a bit  of character whereas the uh Triumph Bonville is James Bond Roger Moore very sve sophisticated  but very refined very cool very good with the girls all that sort of thing so they both  have their own character but in different ways [Music] in terms of uh size let's sit on them I'm 6'2  6'3 in these boots and the motor goody is like that and it's very comfortable it's a lovely  riding position uh plenty of arm reach the leg Bend is just a little bit
sharper than 90° but  perfectly okay but because of the uh scoop in the seat I'd like to sit an inch further  back but I can't because of that whereas the tri's got that bench seat and uh that's  how I look on this I mean they feel really similar to me uh really similar actually  so in terms of riding position the kind of [Music] [Music] identical [Music] if you were going to  have a passenger on the back then the bonerville ah wor about it falling off the stand uh H the  goodsy let's see and i
t is gsy not gzy or guzzy that a lot of people say if you think of the  word Pizza p z z a pizza goody get it right get it right come on now let's have a look this oh no  it's a bit more of a perch so I think the pon is better on the Triumph now looks our subjective of  course which one do you like the look of let us know I think they both look stunning in different  ways I got a lot of looks when I was riding this down the High Street um perhaps slightly more  than that but I don't know it just
depends who's walking down looking doesn't it uh but they're  both good-looking I I can't choose in terms of looks but it's the sort of style you want uh uh  with all the other factors combined that makes up the choice doesn't it really both these bikes  have got very short front mudu guards and I'm going I'm on a mission as I've said before uh the  triumphs one is a little larger and the bike is Muddy uh more so at the bottom of the radiator  and underneath whereas on the motor gutsy it really
is caked in filth so when you're riding on  the muy Road they don't work we need mud guards that come around the whole wheel like they used  to in the' 60s functional and they're beautiful and uh the thing is when you're out on a ride and  you stop somewhere you want the bike to look nice you don't want it to be covered in filth and  of course when you get home you got to clean it so the the more efficient the mud guard is the  easier the cleaning will be later both bikes give you the feel good
factor which is very important  and Darcy's ridden the uh motor c v 7 special and he absolutely adores it he loves it so much he's  thinking of selling his Harley-Davidson to buy one that's how good they are and I love the Bonville  too so I mean to be honest for me it would be a really hard choice I'd have to really sit down  and think about it and go out for various rides uh they're both brilliant triumphs are much more  popular in this country than the motsies that may well be down to people
being more patriotic  about the home brand like I expect Italians uh ride more of these than they do the tri in  terms of living with your bike this is a shaft drive which is uh pretty much maintenance free  apart from making sure it's got oil in it uh but that will be done on your services whereas it's  got a chain and if you've had bikes with chains you have to lubricate them a lot keep them clean  they stretch so you have to keep changing the um adjustment on it so a little bit more to do wi
th  a bike like this what I recommend is that you go after watching this video and watch my individual  review and dares of the motor gy and the t00 and then once you've seen the individual reviews  and this video watch it again it'll help you come to that choice because uh we go into a lot  of detail in the individual reviews about what each bike is like so which one is the winner  they're both brilliant bikes and either choice would be the right choice and at the end of  the day it's not my ch
oice it's your choice so after watching this video you may say do you  know what I'm going to buy a motor gy or no I'm going to buy a t00 i there is the right choice as  I said so that's how I'm going to end it you make the choice let us know in the comments which one  you would go for and why see you on the next video

@DimitriLeeBX

I went with the Guzzi its beautiful and if I'm going to pay a premium for a bike Id rather that money go to workers earning a proper wage.

@Lucan44.40

Saw the V7 stone Guzzi, same colour in the showroom a couple of years back. It looked the business so I bought it. First bike ever bought without test ride...When I left the dealers and started going through the gears I thought " what have I done.! " 😂 By the time I reached home, I was hooked😂 The V7 is a proper motorcycle with shed loads of character. Handles beautifully in all conditions, easy to maintain. 6000 miles later, I'm still smitten. Roll on spring..( a recycled teenager 😊) 11:40

@olethorhermansen5696

To me there is no doubt, give me the shaft drive, please. Chain drive just sucks, that's all there is to it. And the Moto Guzzi is the only somewhat affordable bike left on the market that doesn't have a dirty chain.

@dbharrold

I bought a V7 Stone in September. Reason were -looks, ease of maintenance, shaft drive, large tank capacity and the brand. I’ve had a Bonneville and it was an excellent bike. But in recent years I’ve have two friends who have had serious issues with Triumphs with bad dealer back up. So far I am happy with the Guzzi. It isn’t getting a lot of use here in Wales in December but I love looking at my Italian beauty in the garage every day. I did a review of it on my channel and our opinions are pretty much identical. Merry Christmas to you and yours

@johnkestly4762

Moto Guzzi V7 Special! I currently have a 2022 Kawasaki W800 and a 2022 Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor (along with a 2023 Street Glide) and they are both great bikes. I had a 2022 Moto Guzzi V85TT adventure and loved it, but got rid of it do to the high seat, too hard for a 71 year old man to get on and off. I owned a 2013 V7 a few years back and enjoyed it, a new V7 Special will be next.

@martynhughes8305

Currently there's a £2500 difference in the triumph and the guzzi, even more if you shop around. I test road the Triumph and although a fantastic bike it did nothing for me emotionally while the V7 Is just "alive". I love my V7 and never stop laughing and smiling when I ride it. Great review

@EssexJames65

I did this comparison a few years back. Went for the V7. Never regretted it.

@onursariyer1000

Moto Guzzi is air cooled. This is why I bought one ❤

@oliverallen5324

Guzzi seems like just the bike I need for weekend rides in the country. Low maintenance, easy riding.

@scottburghart9278

Great comparison! I have the Moto Guzzi V7III Special but I think a Corsa is in my near future. One thing not noted, and it does matter to some, but the Triumphs are made in Thailand and the Guzzi's still in their factory in Italy. Agostini pipes are made a few hundred yards away. 70% of the local town is in the bike manufacturing industry! They are truly made by a craft/cottage manufacturer. Even the seat is hand sewn and embroidered with their name. How cool it that? And maintenance is an absolute breeze. Guzzi all the way!

@jez4181

I have the earlier v7iii and when I bought it I was in the market for a used one and comparing against the triumph street twin. I was going to buy the Triumph (after a test ride) but a test ride on the v7 changed my mind, the character element won me over. Now these 2 models you have compared are next generation on but I guess it probably comes down to that personal preference of how each one makes you feel. My v7iii had 3k miles on when purchased 2 years ago and it’s now on 11k. The motors on the Guzzi’s definitely loosen up once they have 10k miles under their belts and the shaft drive is such a blessing for an easy life. Servicing these is pretty simple as it’s a pushrod motor with everything easily accessible. I love my v7iii and wouldn’t part with it… Great video btw very balanced review as always. Keep up the good work and hope you guys have a peaceful Xmas.

@SPSteve

When I was looking to buy a new bike in 2022 it came down to the Triumph Street 900 and the Moto Guzzi V7 Special. I absolutely loved the Gold Line Street 900 and decided I wanted that, but unfortunately there were none to be had in the entire western US, they'd all sold out. So, I bought the beautiful blue Moto Guzzi V7 Special and I absolutely love it. I don't think anyone can go wrong with either of these bikes, they are both fantastic. It comes down to styling preference and model choice Bonneville T100/Speed 900, V7 Stone/V7 Special. I think the Guzzi would appeal more to Harley owners with its industrial gear box and pushrod V-Twin and the Triumph more to the Japanese motorcycle owner with its parallel twin and slick gear box. But you can't miss with either of these fantastic bikes.

@bobmassey7227

A couple of months back I went out shopping for a Triumph. Had always wanted one. Went to the local Triumph dealer and looked over all their various models. Then we wondered into the Moto Guzzi dealer. Went back home, spent a month researching on line. Ended up buying the V7 Stone Special Edition. The looks, the character of the bike, the shaft drive, alloy wheels, the choice was easy.

@brianwhordley1852

I went for the Guzzi.... mainly because of the 6 speed box (Trumpet is 5) and the shaft drive.... test rode both bikes, you were correct in saying there's nothing between them.... I certainly didn't regret buying the Guzzi....

@stewartnorton6386

Changing my bike next year and have been researching for a while and actually whittled it down to these two bikes !! I have decided on the Guzzi ( The 850 special with twin clocks) so hopefully by spring next year I should be on one 🤞☺️

@jamesmegill

I like the air cooled, shaft drive of the Moto Guzzi. Also, easy valve checks. Probably can't go wrong with either bike, IMHO.

@jhellnowh

They’re both great bikes, but as an r nine t owner, the Guzzi gets my vote.

@Uncle_Tijikun

Very proud of how good the Old man pronounces Moto Guzzi ❤️💪

@thebingleywheeler

I’ve bought the V7 Stone Special in black and red….because 1. Looks, sounds and feels more characterful than the T100 2. Cheaper 3. Proper time served legacy classic brand rather than a resurrected classic (like triumph)
