here at 10 How would how would it feel about letting police tap into your cameras and what if it's to help them fight crime the technology already exists and now Beaumont City leaders want to bring it here now the ball is rolling city leaders tell us they've met with a company that sells the technology yeah may sound a little like big brother but it's supposed to get real-time information right to police 12 news reporter Cameron Seibert spoke with mayor Roy West today Cameron is live tonight to
explain yeah guys that's right this technology would link existing City cameras like this one here at City Hall with private cameras at homes and at businesses all of the video on one single Network so 911 dispatchers could have a view of the entire city they're everywhere City Hall School Church even at traffic lights soon these cameras could be connected most of us have seen things like this on television a company called fuses presented the technology to Beaumont City Council last week market
ed as a real-time crime Center in the cloud fuses combines all public and private video resources into one common operating system the company draws on surveillance cameras across the city to build a network of real-time information for police but it wouldn't just be City cameras private businesses can make their cameras available to the city in the event that we receive a call such as an active shooter or any other circumstances Public Safety was a big part of new mayor Roy West's campaign he t
hinks the city should at least consider this technology partnering with so much of our local industry in in schools to better provide safety across the community the goal would be growing the network to to get as many cameras as possible access to private cameras would be at the owner's discretion police would only have access to what you give them access to they would immediately be able to see in your store and see if that's happening right then and then the officers that are responding they c
ould actually see in their cars what they're driving up onto could Beaumont become part of the future the longer things have been around the more affordable they've gotten and also the better the technology is fighting crime One camera at a time certainly a system like this is going to come with a lot of questions there's still a long way to go before Council even considers taking a vote on this Mayor West says it's possible they could pay for it with a grant live at Beaumont City Hall tonight C

@wallychambe1587

Big brother will be watching, there are already lots of cameras on intersections, they don't operate the lights,who is watching them now???

@BigJakeVet

Nah. I'll pass. My security system isn't a run of the mill set up. My son who is a developer and programmer set my system up and its un-hackable. My internet security code by itself is over 70 characters. And my system requires three separate passwords each over 70 characters to access. Im not trying to give that information away for a bad seed within an agency to get their hands on and misuse.
