Hello, everyone. This is Yong from Hanchin. Welcome back to my channel. Are you planning to visit Korea? and looking for information about using phone data. In this video, I'll cover how to get phone data in Korea. There are several ways to get phone data in Korea. In Korea, you can do roaming, use wi fi use WiFi, or get a SIM card. By the way, this is only for travelers or for short term use. So you don't need to provide ARC. You just need a passport, which means you cannot use your phone as v
erification services. Roaming. A simplest way to use a phone data is use a roaming service, but is incredibly expensive. I wouldn't recommend the roaming service unless your carrier offers a great deal for roaming. If you want to use the roaming services, call your carrier to know the pricing and the set ups. Free Wi-Fi. Most of the restaurants and cafes offer free Wi-Fi that you can use during the visit, But it's hard to find free Wi-Fi outside. There will be many Wi-Fi and hotspot that you ca
n find in Korea. However, those are limited to members for certain carriers or internet services. So for travelers, you cannot use them. I could say you could travel around in Korea just using free wi-fi because I've done it before and my friends have done it before. But it is better to get data connection. Pocket WiFi. If you do not need to use call or text services in Korea, then pocket wi-fi could be a good option. Pocket wi-fi is a device that lets you get connected to Wi-Fi anywhere during
your travel. It allows up to three connections per device. You can rent a pocket wi-fi at the airport or preorder it beforehand and pick it up in the airport as well. Bad part about the pocket wi-fi is that you have to charge the device every time you use it and you have to carry around an extra device during your trip. Prepaid eSIM or SIM card. There is a SIM card that lets you use unlimited data connection and provides a Korea phone number for calls and text messages. But for eSIM, you can jus
t receive calls and text messages. No outgoings. You may wonder why you need to receive calls or text messages. There is a situation where you need to provide phone numbers to do certain things. Such as registering Q-code, booking activities, or even waiting in a line for a restaurant. For pocket wi-fi, eSIM, or SIM card, there are some online stores that you can try searching for good ones. Klook, Krusim, and Trazy. You can compare the prices for the SIM card and pocket wi-fi on this website An
d by the way, to use two SIM cards, you need to have your phone unlocked. So make sure your phone is unlocked by calling your carrier and ask them if your phone is unlocked. These are the options for using phone data in Korea for travelers. If this video was helpful, please give it a like. If you have any other questions, please leave a comment below. Yong, thank you for making videos on travelling to Korea. They are very insightful and extremely useful especially the tips you provide that is often not found elsewhere. I watch all your videos to plan for my trip to Korea in September. One question I have is can I get by in Korea just on a data only plan without a local phone number?

@Rick10011

Thank you!

@aliciagordon4820

Thanks I now know I need a SIM card when I get there😊

@charlesbrenan6269

Wifi on KTX trains was generally very good and it wasn't necessary to subscribe to KT-Wifi. But you're absolutely right about not being able to use the wifi on the metro unless buying a KT (or T-Mobile) pass, which I think was 6000 Won a day. Great vlog, once again - many thanks. 😊🇰🇷

I'm planning to solo travel to the Philippines 🇵🇭 n overlay to S. Korea for 12 or 13 hours . I'm planning to do the tourist tour, so I'll definitely need data.

@pushingdasies1

I have been to Korea for work twice three times for about 10 days each. First trip I tried Verizon's $100 for 1 month of international. It had limited data. Second Trip I tried Verizons 1 Day Travel Pass for $10/day. This had unlimited data, but balanced out the same for a 10 day trip and did get me $10 more than I was planning since it crossed the 1 hour mark into day 11 when I stayed at the airport. They also offer a plan that accumulated international days a month, but required a more expensive plan and required all of the phones on the plan to go to a more expensive plan. My coworker had TMobile which had cheaper roaming, but the speed was greatly lowered. I think I'm going to try your suggestion about a data sim card (with Verizon as my plan B) for this next trip and stick to Whatsapp to call home.

Hi Your Korea Friend, Will visit Seoul & Busan in May this year. I'd like to book a car (for 2 people): pick up at Inchon airport, and then drive us around Seoul for 3 days. Could you please recommend some vendors? Thank you!

@61crispy

I am currently looking at getting a SIM card when I arrive. I have been checking them out and many allow pick up from Incheon. I am concerned whoever as I don’t arrive until 7.30pm - if I organise to pick up will I be able to at that time of night. I am still a bit confused.

@marilouvillaluna297

Hello!! Why can’t you make outgoing call with having sim card in your iPhone. What phone connection do I need then to just call a taxi ? Your tips are always helpful. Thanks!!!

@gloriachen3898

Is the SIM card or eSIM phone number sufficient for apps like KakaoTaxi? Or do those apps also require other verification? If so, do you know ways we can still use common phone apps in South Korea if we’re just traveling there for a few days?
