Bet Or Forget – Is Ryan Moore The Right Jockey For Storm Boy?

Did Craig Williams get it wrong on Mr Brightside? Is Ryan Moore the right jockey for Storm Boy? Will Imperatriz maintain her unbeaten record at The Valley in the William Reid Stakes? As is par for the course, Britt Taylor and Wayne Hawkes are divided on all the big talking points!

It's been a big week of debate in the world of racing. Wayne Hawkes, bet or forget Craig Williams deserved to keep the ride on Mr Brightside? Bet Britt. The bottom line is I can't even believe they contemplated dragging Craig. If you've done something wrong, fair is fair but the way he rode that horse on Saturday Mr Brightside it was never going to win. Jenni pulled his pants down and just burned him off his legs. I think the preference for them was that he went forward was more positive than if
he ended up three deep, so be it but I think to everybody watching, the thought well there wasn't much he could do drawn out there. So the question is this then he didn't follow instructions, so he went on his own accord and rode it perfectly well should he have ridden to instructions? I'm sure it would have been clear he didn't follow it. So should he be reprimanded for that? I think there's enough of a reprimand in the sense that they had to go to an ownership vote anyway but gee I'm glad he
stays on because we've seen what happens in the past when Craig Williams has gotten taken off horses it hasn't really ended up well for connections. I think of Jimmysstar still looking for a run when he was taken off Giga Kick. Giga Kick never got to the races so careful of karma. One thing I learned a long, long time ago in this industry never, ever make a decision on raceday because the next day you wake up and look at things a hell of a lot differently sometimes. Speaking of jockeys Ryan Moor
e's in town for the Slipper on Saturday is he the best jockey for Storm Boy Britt? Bet or forget? Well, I would always typically side up with the local jockey. The one that knows the track inside out knows the other riders, knows the form. We only have to look at what he did this time last year on Shinzo in the Slipper he can obviously get the job done but if it were up to me I would side with the local. He is the world's best jockey. He does fly how we travel around the state even our country.
He flies internationally week in week out and he does nail it. I guess that's what separates those elite jockeys. We’ve seen Ryan do it all around the world. We see J-Mac do it in Hong Kong but with that being said they're flying in to ride seriously good horses not donkeys. That's true. You know the best part about Saturday’s Slipper is? There’s so many intricate details in this race that is going to be one hell of an event and racing’s going to be the winner for watching it. That is so true. D
o you know what else I'm looking forward to? The William Reid. Bet or forget Imperatriz will turn the tables on Cylinder and continue her unbeaten run at The Valley. Bet. I reckon Imperatriz if she's ridden right and there's the gun run she'll beat Cylinder by four lengths pulling up. Four lengths? Well, I think she's a better horse ridden just off the speed. Now that might be in the one-one that might be running second but I don't like her as a leader. I think she's a better horse when she is r
idden off the lead and if she has a sit and shot they won't catch her and Cylinder won't even know which way she went. Whooa, I mean, I love Imperatriz I think she'll win it but Cylinder was very impressive the other day. I don't know if I'd be declaring Imperatriz by four. Yeah but it was a handicap. Now you're back to weight for age so Cylinder won’t meet her as well as what he did the other day. Even though she was in with a great weight I felt, weight for age is a totally different ball game
When you're a home-track specialist stick to it and she's back at her old famous stomping ground. Well, it is a massive weekend for racing. We can agree on that. See you next week for bet or forget.
