This is a pretty clear demonstration of the failure a political system dominated by two parties... You have the same two candidates, over and over and over again, regardless that neither one is out of all Americans even close to being the best candidate for the job. When the Soviet Union collapsed it was slow and over time... but at the very same time, the United States was rotting out completely from within. I would argue they both failed... pretty much within a decade or two of each other. Which one failed first is debatable, depending upon which metrics you use.
