[Music] now of this California business owners will be bleeding cash as Gavin Newsome's minimum wage hike takes effect starting tomorrow fast food chains and restaurants will be forced to pay their workers at least $20 an hour some say the new law is a silent tax on owners and consumers alike we're going to have massive layoffs massive job losses it is a silent tax on the public the public will pay for the unemployment of the people that are let go people need to wake up this is like when you go
out uh to the circus and the guy has a big fancy tricky showing you meanwhile somebody is stealing all the money out of your pocket because this tax is being passed on to the consumer David I'm going to start with you because you're very familiar with this law um what should the audience at home know well they should know that this is already started number when he signed it into law in September by October Pizza Hut had announced 1,200 Plus layoffs Roundtable Pizza another franchise or in Cali
fornia had laid off uh Starbucks employees who by the way total compensation package around $30 an hour they had already closed seven stores they're going to have more layoffs uh Uber drivers uh door Dash and all of them will pay a price restaurants are already squeezed and he's basically killed it but the people that get laid off then collect because the businesses had to pay unemployment compensation to the state which means the taxpayers get to make up the difference his buddy Greg Flynn high
school buddy Gavin Newsome's friend who got a ex uh exemption because he's a bread maker for Panera well at least he got rid of that because it was too publicly embarrassing but what this is is idiotic forced uh value on the cost of Labor which is anti-free Market anti- capitalist and the real results are thousands of people have already lost jobs and more will lose jobs and customers will have to to pay the difference yeah I wonder if that friend was at the French Laundry dinner with Gavin all
right Alise I want to get you on the on this Wall Street Journal uped uh the headline reads this there's no free pizza and it goes on to say incentives matter and there's still no such thing as free pizza politicians can try to dictate higher higher wages for entry-level jobs but ultimately consumers decide how much they're willing to pay fast food consumers demand a bargain so restaurant operators are already trimming staff to keep cost lows now Alicia you've been a business owner so as a busi
ness owner what does that mean to absorb some of these costs so we had um we had a restaurant my husband had a restaurant and we actually closed last year and the cost of labor was choking us so badly in trying to keep it staffed and to make up for it our serving sizes shrink we had to take um premium items off of the menu we were trying to cut Corners at every every step and it just became impossible and finally we became another one of those small businesses I won't blame it entirely on the mi
nimum wage increase we had one in Denver as well we tried to to use a living wage we started at $15 an hour this is when we opened and but then the city started to decide how things were going to change and we had to brace ourselves and things changed the customers didn't like that we didn't like that and eventually we had to close so yeah it's it's a real problem Joey yeah listen California specifically we reported on Fox and Friends earlier this weekend about the most expensive cities to live
in San Francisco and San Jose came in number one and number two Oakland was in the top 10 there were other California cities in the top 10 so maybe just I mean just hear me out they need a higher minimum wage because it costs so dang much money to live in California and maybe if they get if they just scaled back on some of those taxes that don't go anywhere to to anything that helps the taxpayers it wouldn't they wouldn't need a $20 minimum wage because their money would go further it's it's a i
t's a self-feeding snake it's a self-feeding problem they created a state so expensive that you have to raise minimum wage for people to live there I don't necessarily hate that that people get more money on minimum wage because it's an entire economy problem there well and we've already seen fast food industry really automate a lot of these jobs and I assume this just accelerates that all right great discussion hey Sean Hannity here hey click here to subscribe to Fox News YouTube page and catch
