e're expecting a continuation of what we witness yesterday to happen today playy absolutely TOA I agree I mean just look at these games that we were able to witness that living Stone and buoy State game last night had tarica and I on the edge of our seat perfect perfect way to end the day isn't that right Tara yeah so we've got uh Winston Salem State and Bluefield hting off right now but later on in the day we'll see Virginia state take on Johnson C Smith Elizabeth state which have a close one l
ast night they'll be taking on Lincoln and buoy State who won that close match up by the skin of their teeth last night we'll be facing off against the number one seat at faville State Skin of Their Teeth indeed it was that is the best way to describe how how that contest in it it was close it was very close and I think it's just a testament to tournament time and what it is and what it means because listen nobody wants to go home and nobody wants to go home early no exactly first round exits ar
e not the funnest way to go and so here we are kicking it off for day three Bluefield state will get first possession at this yes they will I'm very excited our windy starting lineup for Bluefield State jir Reus Jordan hin Trayvon Cooper Jaylen Bernard and J Caleb slinsky they'll be kicking it off and then for our Winston Salem State a windy starting lineup got katron casy Shaw Jaylen Austin Isaac Parsons Jaylen Parker and do would be get in the first crack at things here this is going to be an
interesting game and I oh all right now y'all man got work today we we are introducing Tai to what it means to sit court side that means the ball absolutely can and will come towards you got to be on your p's and q's over here at all times listen me and tarica are trying to work today y'all don't take us out and send us to the ER taking us out in the first the first five minutes Reus looking for a good shot but loses the ball what's interesting about blue Fields is that they are the second ranke
d scoring offense in the CIAA they're ranked last in defense so they're going to have to give it their best shot well that is an interesting stat because Winston Salem State is a top five field goal percentage defense in the nation in division two they're ranked top 10 in scoring defense so they're going to have some trouble trying to uh Bluefield is going to find themselves in some trouble big pick up there from sininsky also got some contact foul there is on Doc got to make sure the very caref
ul with the fouls because as we saw last night shica you take out your best players and then ultimately that can cause a problem down the stretch oh yes foul trouble certainly played a role in a few of those matchups yesterday the Rams are on a five game winning streak coming into this matchup they finished the season with a big one it gets Livingstone Justin as Jaylen Austin gets the bucket there to put Winston Salem State on the board first now Bluefield state lville state is coming back to th
e ciaaa conference located in Bluefield West Virginia about 1300 students there big two bucket there from Rus but this school was once a part of the CIAA back in 1932 from 1955 and then they competed as an independent division 2 member and last year July 1st they were welcomed back to the ciaaa I love that I love that for them the CIAA is full of such Rich tradition the oldest and this is a good place for them to be and a good place for them to compete Austin was fighting for that one under the
basket but he did get that the fall and now the the Rams are up 42 binsky trying to take it oneon-one shot clock at two got to make sure that they're playing good defense getting rebounds him he he fought for that was able to put it up with multiple Defenders got to make sure to box out get those rebounds so you don't create multiple opportunities for Winston Salem as good as they are Winston Salem State is going to be inside this post all game I've got a feeling and they're going to take advant

Central used to coach of Shaw but he's been at Winston quite 10 years almost about seven years now and he won his first championship a couple years ago 2022 23 season that was we were in the building we were in the building we were in the building to We Were see him to see him and his family celebrate here in CFG Bina was something that was so beautiful and I just know that I just know that he's going to continue to do great things now all of my Rams friends were super excited about that about
that season big basket there from Jordan hind on the plane I actually sat next to um at Winston Salem State Alum she also has ties to F Bill Stak just saw her when I was getting us water tqa she had on her Winston Salem outfit and I said there is certainly Ram's Pride when it comes to Winston the state of you better know it good score there they've been able to cut this lead down and now they're picking up the pressure full cour like we've said to the moment that you get comfortable you're going
to get uncomfortable real quick and that's not to say that the Rams are not playing hard but everybody is coming in here trying to win in advance they are certainly crowding the paint down there trying to make sure that there are no easy inside baskets for the Rams but that long ball misses and Parson goes back up with it not able to get it but Jaylen Austin my goodness ran in there for the rebound it just rolls around the rim but the way he flew in there to get the extra basket however traveli

g to make with different plays and combinations is he going to do to help his team get this point well I think we're seeing some players step up I trly just also need to figure out you know when your shots fall in that's nothing that you can always control when your shots fall or and they don't fall but under a minute here left to go you know some things you can't control though is traveling so unforced errors are things you can control absolutely don't want those unforced errors because down th

in the Johnson C Smith versus Winston Salem State game the Winston Salem State women couldn't match up with the post players from Johnson C Smith because their tallest player the biggest player their post player she couldn't play because of foul trouble yeah foul trouble get the best of them and speaking of foul trouble Jaylen Austin at the line right now want to make sure that he stays out of foul trouble for Winston sa he's only got one so they feel good about having their best player on the
floor absolutely and like you said TQ that's their best player so what they need to do is they they got to slow him down he's the only Ram in double digits with 14 points eight rebounds so he's back in the game and he gets a big bucket there I love the aggression and I love the I love the fact that Bluefield is going to the basket they're going to the basket like you see here getting it down to the post going up for the basket J Caleb Slowinski saying y'all not going to bully me I don't care wha
t kind of game y'all got let me show you what I got two points just how you get back into it just Chip Away chip away it's only a four-point difference here early in this second half as Parson goes up for the long ball that one doesn't fallaw but ruville state gets the rebound see if they can get something going here on this side attacking the basket yes that's something that they're going to have to do and TOA I think so often a lot of players a lot of teams may get caught up in the fireworks r
ight so shooting the three cutting the deficit that way but sometimes a lot of the time slow and steady wins the race just chip away little by little get stops on the defensive end on the offensive side yeah he is one thing that you can always count on when it comes to Winston Salem State is they're always going to ensure that their fundamentals are 100% on point that's what they do that's what they stick with so things like you know taking care of the basketball things like looking for the qual
ity shot passing the ball around that's it really all goes back to coach Cleo Hill that's why he's coaching the year that's why he's coaching the year and I mean he has so much resume experience he's seen a lot he's been around the game his whole entire life his entire life his entire life so I'm sure that he has seen and learned a lot of things he's a player as well so when you combine all of that experience together you know you know what to do you know what works it also helps too that this W
inston salum State team is returning um quite a few players from last season so again we kind of talked about that previously that when you have a good core and a good foundation that you're bringing back there's familiarity and there's chemistry re is here looking for a good shot gives it all to H he had the open look but the ball just didn't bounce his way fast break here for Winston Salem State nothing there good transition defense good fast break defense going right at him but hit the ground
pretty hard tp's like hey are you okay my bad my Jon Cooper and Jordan hindes got into a little tie up down there they sure did gets the ball going up going right at him going right at him ma d ma D like wait I just had my hands up I didn't do nothing well you know you know how the cloes no player ever commit the five right no that never happened Cooper hits that one always my favorite thing me oh no me no you can't be got to look at coach dein Herms again we've talked about Cleo Hill Jr his ex
tensive resume all of those things but I think that Bluefield State should look at where their team is right now the things that they're doing and how young their coaches I mean he hasn't even scratched the surface of what his career could be look at where they are right now going toe to- Toe with the Giants very fair they were 8 and 21 overall this season so certainly have some work to do but it is not for lack of ability or tenacity as you can see here it's a four-point ball game I also think
tas's they they've made their reintroduction back into the CIAA so once they get comfortable in the league get the lay of the land learn a lot more about their opponents sky is really the limit for them certainly should be fun to watch them grow yeah sky is the limit for them but they might just put some footprints on the moon you never know substitutions here you can see that chase pagee has reentered the game in for Jaylen Bernard and Chase Paige had quite a first half he was very impactful on
the offensive end yeah had seven points he was three from three from the field so you need an offensive push makes sense to bring our friend from Australia back in he just got called for a foul there got to be more careful but I really really like what I'm seeing from Bluefield in terms of their aggression but they've got to be careful with the fouls because you don't want to see they wouldn't want to see any of their players ultimately leave the game speaking of personal foul right there on Co
oper going to put KY Shaw at the line they're doing such a great job of putting the pressure on them not allowing them to get any easy baskets great great defense out on the perimeter but you can't give them free points from the charity stripe taking your lingo T I love it I forgot who I stole it from so let's just just keep it keep it moving big blue Cooper just says you know what let's just go back to the basket and right off the glass count that one for two great spin move I like their patien
