See you next Bring It On! ✨Sunday 21 April 2024! _________________________________________________________________________ Bring It On! Festival is a major NSW Youth Week event held annually in the Fairfield region (South West Sydney, NSW, Australia) since 2003. This event is led by young people from the Fairfield Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) working alongside Fairfield City Council & is a celebration of local young people, music, dance, sport and culture. From its roots in the early-2000's thriving breakdance scene in Fairfield and Cabramatta, to the modern-day booming Western Sydney RnB and rap scene of the 2020's, the YAC paid homage to the 20 year history of Bring It On! at the nostalgic 2023 event. Bring It On! is also home to the biggest event volunteer and creative skills training program in South Western Sydney, engaging over 100 local young people annually in training workshops and volunteers at the event. Nice to meet you This is the Bring It On! Festival Oh, I love this environment it's very welcoming and very joyful and everyone is very nice. Everyone likes to know what's going on and they're all so supportive. You know, so I like how this Festival is bringing people from all different backgrounds together. So hey guys Welcome to Bring It On! Is this your first time here? Yes, it is my first time (yes it is) Ho many years has Bring It On! been running for? Including this year 10 years, 15 maybe
? 18? (Higher) 20? Yeah 20 (cheering) We're very happy to be here to see all the community coming together for our young people and seeing the amazing community services here that our young people can access. Hello, this is the Bring It On! Festival. And you are? Alejandro Can you tell me about how you started breakdancing I've been breakdancing my whole life, just for fun because I've always been an active kid but I started dancing professionally probably about 5 years ago I knew about Bring It
On! Festival for ages because I live in the area. So today I came for the breakdancing battle and for the performances. Yeah I'm having so much fun I just like seeing people out here, just There's so many different activities like basketball over there, breakdancing and like, I don't even know what that is, but everyone's doing it everyone's just having fun I mean, that's what it's all about. Could you tell me a bit about what you guys do? Yeah so, Youth Action is the peak body that represents
young people and youth services in NSW. Yeah so today we're consulting with young people and we're asking them what life is like for them after lockdown. [What do you like about BIO!?] I think just all the people, and there's a lot of young people and families and the variety of activities that are on for young people I think it's great, yeah So hi, welcome to Bring It On! I'm here with Megan Huynh Um, so what do you guys do exactly? We do competitive hip-hop Can you show us your favourite move
right now? Ooh, my favourite move right now would be, the up-rock Which is... it's a part of breakdance, so I find it really fun to do Have you been able to look at the activities? Yes, I've seen many rides, food trucks and activities It looks very fun, to do with something with the community. Today we have our band named... Anywhere But Now So we're actually from Nadia's Performance Studio in Wetherill Park And how did it feel to perform today? It was really good. So far we've just been doing p
erformances for Nadia's Performance Studio Their annual concert, so it was really good to step out some place new and perform I think that Bring It On! is so cool because it like brings the youth of Fairfield City together and Western Sydney in general and it like, gives everyone an opportunity to show off their talents or just get together and have fun.
