[Announcement] This is a special flight this evening: as
part of our centenary commemorations we've organised a series of one-off
events to celebrate, and to showcase the very best of British Airways. This flight is
crewed by a very special team: all your cabin crew this evening have been
selected on the count of unique and long lasting links with the airline. In more
than one case, this involves two generations of the same family working together
tonight. The cabin crew this evening will be doi
ng their very best to exemplify
the characteristics we embrace at this company and to deliver the service
you both expect and deserve. Sit back, relax and enjoy the flight with us this evening. [Donna] My name's Donna and I'm a Worldwide CSL... [Ellie] I'm Ellie... I'm on Mixed Fleet main crew... [Together] ...and we're mother and daughter. [Donna] Yeah, mother and daughter [Karen] I'm Karen Nicholls, I'm a Cabin Service Director on Worldwide, and this is my daughter Victoria Nicholls. [Nikki] I
'm Nikki and I am Chris'
daughter. [Karen] There's mother and daughter in First, mother and daughter in Club, and mother and daughter in World Traveller. [Keith] It's really unique, I must admit I've never had anything like it. There's
something about the bonds between the family members on board... that acts as an extra level of camaraderie. [Nikki] Alongside mum, her brother is also a Cabin Service Director for us on Worldwide fleet and he has been flying since the
early eighties, I believe...
yeah, the early eighties, so a long time. But also, a very special man, very dear to our hearts, my grandad and your dad, he was
an engineer for BA and we lost him a year ago so this would be a very proud
moment for him today to have us flying together. [Donna] I met my husband 30 years ago
and we got married; we flew on married rosters for 12 years.
Ellie used to come all over the world with us, as did the children. My brother
worked on the ground and her father is a training captain on the tr
iple seven. [Alexandra] We have histories throughout our family with British Airways going back to my mum
and it was from her joining BA that got me interested in the role. And so as soon
as I turned 18 I became cabin crew and that's where I am today, because of her. [Beverly] My father-in-law, he joined the airline as an engineering apprentice, and
his brother, and they both did over 45 years starting with Scottish Airlines
and then it became British Airways. [Carrie] This is my memorabilia fro
m over the years. When my father was based in Hong Kong we used to fly backwards and forwards on the jumbo
jet and I think it has just about been brought into service, and now I'm
working on it: it's sort of [...] it's quite bizarre, but I love these photos and we
even have a jumbo jet that they've repainted in this retro Landor
livery. [Lisa] I grew up with British Airways, with BOAC, with my father who was in the airline as a pilot, and he's no longer with us anymore, and I
know that he'd be a
bsolutely thrilled. [Chris] Everybody's just lovely. It's so unique to get the opportunity to fly with mums, with their daughters. [Nikki] Very special, very privileged within our roles to be able to do that really. [Donna] We're joined at the hip together! We've been working in same cabin, on the same side... so that's been good, hasn't it? [Ellie] Really lovely. [Donna] And on the trolley, she's even calling me mother [laughter]. [Karen] She's bossing me around in the galley. [Keith] The custo
mers have definitely noticed: we've had people coming up to us saying "so what's going on today? This crew are
unbelievable, what's happening? Who are you all? When can I fly with you again?"
So yeah, really, really special. [Brian] There's real buzz about the plane... the staff are really buzzing, it's because there's so much happening. [Donna] Well it's been phenomenal. On the drive in the car on the way here, Ellie actually said "Mum, this is a dream come true, so I feel
really proud, very ex
cited we've had a really nice time.
[Ellie] I think, as well, we wouldn't normally ever be able to fly with each other, being on different fleets, so having the chance to fly with each other is just amazing.
