I'm Camilo Gil. This is my humble abode where I spend part of my day because I work quite a lot. As you can see this is part of my vinyl colection. I'm a music lover. This is like a half. I like pretty much the vinyl format. In the history of music is quite special because since when I was born my parents, my mother, may she rest in peace. She was a big fan of british music, such as The Beatles, The Cult, Jethro Tull. On the other hand, the most influential person thanks to which I am like now,
a music producer, a musician, a mix of ideas, Is my older brother, Nacho Gil, who is a legend of the electronic music in Chile, mainly of deep house. He teached me the roots of house music, for what I am known here in Chile. It's my staging, my speech. It's the music that I listen and do, as a musician and a producer. When I was younger, I started listening to heavy metal, which is very different from that we listened recently. This was a mix of deep house and minimal house, like the last track
which is mine with my mates 1+1, who more than my partners, they are my family from Spain. They're Rubén Solar and Alexander from Valencia. We have a label together from which I will talk about later. That was a mix of styles. Going back to the topic of how I started. I started with heavy metal buying cassettes in downtown. I bought cassettes of Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Brujería, Death, Carcass. All those bands I loved. Then there was a very weird mutation. Like from one continent to another.
I started to listen funk, disco, soul, hip-hop. I got very passionate with it. I got to consume a lot of music. From east coast hip-hop to french hip-hop. That let me to be a commentator of Stress magazine, in the year 1998-99. And then, like a good hyperkinetic and creative person. I'm a publicist. I begin to go deep into trip hop That led me to my most interesting accident in the year 1996. I went with my brother to an open rave near here, in Parque Almagro. I was fascinated about how this al
ien-like people, with only two turntables, there wasn't the technology of today, and in the format that I like, how they put to dance a mass of people with that abstract music, less direct, less head to head. That led me to fall in love with the music. Step by step. Crawling and then walking for later fly. I think that a musician and producer career must start by steps, not all inmediately, like the actual generation. Well, I went through long nights exploring new music and labels. I bought a lo
t of music. I promoted parties as well. We bringed here very important people to play, thing I'm still doing, like David from Politics of Dancing. I'm a fan of the house music scene of France. Musicians such as Didier Sinclair, Daft Punk, French Touch, Cassius. This was evolving. I had various projects. I had a radio show with Nico Allendes, a great actor of the Casa Payaso. We went on air for three years. That allowed me to transmit my experience to the masses. I think that is the purpose of mu
sic. Before compete, share. That is my way of thinking as a dj. More than making business, make friends. Like with Dave an other french friends Jef K, Chris Carrier, DJ W!ld. Apart from playing together, we always keep in touch. Sharing content. He makes me a remix and I make a remix to him. Nowadays, the music had given the possibility to travel a lot to Europe and play all around the continent. Today I have a label with my spanish family. W3IRD LTD. We turned 3 years now. We have one release o
n air and 3 more to be announced. The first is our, One+1, with me and it's called Absolute Beginners. It has been very well received by the public, because more than music and style, we want to do culture, and for that we must to rescue the old values like Mark Ambrose of the british Crayon label, and in other hand we have Sascha Dive, from Frankfurt. Another great promotor of house music in Germany. We mixed that together in a 12". I will show you now. It's very important to me communicate, do
, create and distribute. This is our first release. One of many to be published. It's a very hard work. But it fill your soul. Seeing turn something yours is very important. And as advice to the new generations, go more for the music than for the party. That's all can say.
