new tonight A Charlotte woman has a unique crime prevention organization and she's working to decrease gun violence in adults and youth Queen City news reporter Shakira speak shows us how hers is different than other groups with the same mission three homicides on Thursday doesn't sit well with Jacqueline Lewis and they were only a few of the 10 plus homicides in the last two weeks the frequency of the crimes over the last three years forced her into Community activism especially after experienc
ing the Lost of my son and no one being there I had to figure out a way that I could be a help to somebody else because I can recall very clearly what that night was like she started angels of No Mercy shortly after losing her son and Grandson to gun violence since then Louis goes to nearly every homicide scene to connect with the families who lose loved ones to the same crimes that name came from both of my sons how both of their killings were in vain those guys had no mercy on my babies none w
hile lwis soothes those families she works to provide resources to at risk youth so their families won't eventually have to grieve she attended Thursday's youth Le Town Hall about recent crime to further her work we talk a lot about what we need to do we talk a lot about what's happening but what are we doing you know what what action are we taking to ensure that this young lady and any young lady like her life is not taken Charlotte may v La wrote a letter to the city's teenagers posting it to
her professional social media Pages La says it pains her to acknowledge that the city is losing so many youth to gun violence there's a lot of kids walking around on this street right now that I talk to and deal with on a daily basis that don't have that support system I am their support system um when they come to me and they tell me things you know I I keep it between us but I also encourage them to do the right thing Lewis believes the best way to reach and impact Charlotte youth is if all of
