Cody Bellinger signs and I think this is a terrific deal particularly for the Cubs three years $80 million deal including op outs after each of the first two seasons so if he's not happy with the deal no problem just opt out go hit the market again Balinger course had a wonderful bounceback season had almost 30 home runs close to 100 RBI hit 306 I was talking to other day in the hall and I said you know I think that the Fair Deal here because he was coming off a $19 million year was 5 years for
125 and I see three for 8 to go that's fantastic so the aab a little higher than I was saying at 2 this is 27 almost right but you still get the op for the player so if you have a great year test the market and for the Cubs to me that's pretty Team friendly 80 million for three years potentially a bell ins no but here it works out you know belly gets you know High average annual uh salary here and then obviously the Cubs you know it works out because they don't have that long-term commitment and
you know which is probably something that obviously they were they were looking for hoping for uh in a deal with Cody Bellinger to bring him back um you know one of the probably one of the reasons why it took so long cuz uh was probably trying to get that that long-term agreement but I think it'll work out you know it's a place obviously he's comfortable hitting I think when you put him in that lineup um obviously any lineup you know you put Bellinger in the way he's was swinging the bat last y
ear makes him better but uh this team definitely lengthens that lineup he gives you um a Bonafide middle of the order of threat uh super athlete really great base runner as well uh last year though he he turned himself into a hitter though I loved his his two- strike approach his his ability to make more contact go the other way when he needs needed to his situational hitting was was uh fantastic and it it wasn't at a lack of for any power either he still hit his fair share of home runs an extra
base hit so this is a obviously a good move for both and puts the Cubs in a position to really do some damage in that Central yeah feels like a no-brainer all along you know you had a few tough years with the Dodgers you bounce back have a great year with Chicago clearly a great City to hit in he felt comfortable there at Wrigley other options San Francisco that's a tougher place to hit home run certainly the Jays were an option but take a look at this lineup right now I think if you're a Chica
go Cubs fan you you know what Bellinger is such a key piece here because we got Swanson who obviously can do some damage half batting in front of him Suzuki had an excellent ear Morel link lot wisdom can sell some home runs that's a pretty good lineup in the central no for sure and that that they'll score some runs like they they were able to last year a little bit I mean I think their pitching staff is uh is improving as well the one guy too obviously the the guy that that slotted in behind Bel
l dur in this potential lineup in Suzuki I really hope he's able to stay healthy all year cuz I enjoy watching his his at bats he gives a professional bad every time it'll be interesting to see that onew punch of those two guys if as if Suzuki stay on the field for a whole season
