10 years ago this Saturday will be the anniversary of the first time a Colombia couple held their first born that day a decade ago was also the last time they held her David and Laura Anderson tell us their baby ca Anderson had a short life but her existence has had a long reach through the years and tonight they tell us how a baby who only lived for 3 weeks lives on to this day how old would she have been this year she was B 10 10 years ago on March 14th as soon as David and Laura Anderson of C
olombia welcomed their firstborn cila Anderson a doctor told them they were about to go through the worst thing they had ever gone through she had a condition called CDH and that stands for congenital diaphragmatic hernia I see you there yes I do at 19 weeks pregnant during an ultrasound David and Laura were told the baby had a hole in her diaphragm met with CU they tried to prepare us the best they can and kind of tell us you know what some of the out outcomes can be with her condition in her c
ase her diaphragm failed to form at all and so um her abdominal organs protruded into her chest the couple says ultimately that prevented ca's lungs from developing properly and she couldn't recover from that April 6th 2014 only 23 days after she was born David and Laura held ca for the first time and the last the sadness and the grief can take over if you let it and to be honest it did for a little while but eventually a plan came out of the couple's pain on what would have been ca's first birt
hday David and Laura along with their families planned the very first celebrate CA 5K over the last 10 years the Columbia Community and strangers from all over have given celebrate CA more than $123,000 most is donated to the Children's Hospital in Jackson where ca was born the rest helps other kids closer to home David and Laura say this support keeps ca's memory alive and spreads awareness of CDH a couple years ago there was a family they were going on vacation and every state that they were p
assing through they were running a 5k in mhm and they had never heard of CDH before but they saw this 5K and it was on their their travel path to Florida and they stopped on a Saturday morning and ran they say through the 5K they have met a family with a child who was born with CDH and survived Bitter Sweet is the perfect word because you know you just you still hope and wish that you know CA could be here but then you're still so you know happy for the other people too Laura and David want the
happiness and hope and ca's name to continue this Saturday April 6th in Friendship Park in Colombia the 10th anniversary of the race and the 10th anniversary of ca's passing now this is the Anderson family now CA has a little brother and a little sister David and Laura tell us her memory also stays alive through their two kids because they always ask about their big sister celebrate CA 5K is this Saturday at Friendship Park in Columbia it starts at 8:00 a.m. there's still time to register go to
