During World War II, American soldier Desmond Doss refused to carry a weapon due to humanitarian and religious beliefs. Instead, he served as a combat medic, he said that he would be satisfied with treating the wounded from his team and from the enemies as well! Despite facing opposition from his fellow soldiers and officers, He persisted in his beliefs. In 1945, his bravery and dedication were recognized with the Award of Honor by US President Harry Truman. During the Korean War in 1950, American soldiers faced a siege in harsh cold weather, lacking essential supplies like food, mortar shells, and weapons. To request mortar shells from American bases without alerting the enemy, they cleverly asked for Tootsie rolls as code. However, the bases misunderstood and dropped tons of Tootsie Roll candy instead. Despite the mix-up, the soldiers ate the candy due to hunger, ultimately saving the lives of 20,000 soldiers in the siege.
