My name is Che Lingo, and I am writing and recording
the soundtrack for The Fall Seasons anime
for Crunchyroll. Firstly, I called some dope musicians
and producers in to just kind of float some ideas around. I wanted pace and some kind of energy, and I wanted journey, so I called Zee
and Mikes into the studio as well. Good day to you. My name is Miku Nakamura, and I provide vocals, guitar, keyboards
and programming for Cö shu Nie. The image I get from the lyrics
and the sound meshes incredibly w
ell, which is why I thought it was
a pretty remarkable song. This song helps you understand
the kind of pain you'd feel in an existence
where you have to fight to survive. Well, the way the lyrics depict
having to fight to survive, in terms of the color of the sound, it really gives the impression
of having to fight against someone who's stronger than you are. After listening to the music
numerous times, the lyrics for the rap parts and then the part that I sing, you get a contrast from the rap
parts
that convey the feeling of fighting, whereas the parts I do have a softer,
more mysterious tone. I took the impression I got from that
and added my own interpretation, making small changes to the lyrics,
constructing the way it sounds. The themes were, like, epic battle, dark fantasy, like, adventure. The guitar creates the darkness
and creates the depth. And then, again,
the keys create the journey. And then Mikes pulled it together
with all the percussion and drums. So, yeah. The music a
round my verses
mainly focuses on the chaos, the darkness, what would be
the dark-fantasy battle scenes. And then I wanted the hook
to feel like you were, like, running really fast, to the point where you grow wings
and you fly into the air. Like most people,
I started watching Naruto. And I was also excited by the storylines
and the way that things would move. You get me? When people were upset with each other
and they would fight, but then they would still have
love for each other, and all the
se different little principles
that made it easy for you to go through adversity
and still come out with positives. The reason kind of non-Asian cultures, especially Black cultures,
resonate with anime so much is because a lot of the things
that we hear and consume, that we would have to go outside
and really experience, whether it be with not having money, and even to do what they need to do
on survival mode, or whatever the case may be. A lot of them, a lot of my friends
maybe wouldn't be here
if they fell into that a little bit more. Where I grew up and how I grew up,
there was a lot of that. There was a lot of adversity and a lot
of things that you had to make positive. Miku is amazing.
The collaboration was dope. I find... I find Miku to be... She was extremely respectful, and she was very protective of the things
that I had already put into the song. "I don't want to do too much here."
"I don't want to do too little here." It was a truly unique experience. This was my first time
collaborating
with an international artist, and I've never put together a track
with a rapper before. I very much appreciated how Che Lingo
was so detail-oriented with the project. And as we were going back and forth, it began to feel like
the language barrier was breaking down. That was a lot of fun. He was actually the one who asked me
to work on this and got me involved. Crunchyroll acted as an intermediary, which was how I was brought in, at Che Lingo's request. It's a bit of a dream come tr
ue,
I'll be honest with you. It definitely means the world, because my inner child is,
like, screaming at me. Like, "You did it!"
Bro, do you know what I mean? Like, you never thought that...
You never... Sometimes you don't know
where things will go. Actually being able to see that manifest
in real life, like, my actual life. I'm gonna die with this on my roster.
You know what I'm saying? And it's never been done before,
so it's literally a historical moment. I'm just Che from South London, bru
v. I started in youth clubs.
You know what I mean? I just came out of youth clubs. I was watching anime
and going to youth clubs. I want to be the hero of my ends. I want to do things
that nobody else has done. I want to go places nobody else has been,
and do it with integrity.

Good on CR for taking a shot with working with Che Lingo! That's freaking amazing.
Che Lingo's previously worked on a few songs on the Jujutsu Kaisen OST, and his album "The Worst Generation" was named after the iconic collection of pirates from One Piece. Love to see him getting more recognition.
