I'm Danielle Windmon, and I'm a lab assistant
at Mayo Clinic. A lab assistant directly impacts the lab
function in any lab, across Mayo mostly that's dealing with
patient samples. We are the first people to organize those
samples and make sure that they are
being sorted to the correct
location and that they are being processed
in the right way. I always wanted
to work for Mayo. I was a certified
nursing assistant before the CNA hours
no longer work for me. So there was a I saw for Mayo Clinic an
d I
applied and I got in. I enjoy the atmosphere, I enjoy the people, and I love what
I do in general. A typical day we do the front end as far as tracking in
patient samples, checking labels, sorting to the correct bucket. I'm fulfilled in my
position because I get to be a part of
a greater mission. It's so many
opportunities here. My relationships that I have built in the lab, the environment
that I'm in, it is a very good
environment. One of the missions
of Mayo is that the needs of the
patie
nts come first. That is our main
focus in our lab. In most labs, Mayo
is the patients. It's making sure that
the testing is done, that it's accurate, that we're processing in
a timely manner. Someone who will
be great for this position as
someone who is caring, somebody who is dedicated, somebody who cares more about others than
they do theirself.
