Hey guys! So, lately I've been scrolling
in Twitter and I came across this cute BMO redesign made by Dazzen in Twitter. Everybody
is making fanarts of it in their own art style, so I thought to myself why not make a low poly
version of it. So, I did and here's the video. So, I started by shaping a cylinder base
mesh. The overall shape of the model was easy to convert in Blockbench
but what I struggled with was the proportions. So, here you can see me trying to
make the hood. So, in my mind
I didn't want to over complicate it and I didn't have any
plans on making it be able to go over the character's head so here I'm just sticking
it right on the uh body mesh of the model, The arms were pretty easy to do since they are
only a cone shape. But as you can see here, the proportions of the arm and
the body are not quite there yet. Skipping onto the head mesh, since Dazzen's
redesign of BMO follows the Adventure Time art style fairly accurately, I started with a cube
mesh in order
to make the usual circular-ish faces that Adventure Time characters usually have.
So, as you can see here, I'm adding Loop Cuts onto the cube mesh so that I could somewhat make
the smooth transition from the face to the neck. While making the hair, I had to make a decision
whether or not I will add the extra details such as the soft ends of the hair that you can
see in the redesign which was pretty difficult to convert into low poly in Blockbench. As you
can see here, I tried to pull some
vertices in order to do so. But in the end, I opted on a much
simpler looking hair which was much easier to do. You don't have to go full 3D when
making hair it's just that that's how I've always done low poly hair with my models. I've seen others make low poly hair with
2D textures and make it look very great. Making the arm was pretty straightforward
so I'll just leave it with that. Making the headphones was somewhat tricky.
The earphone parts of the headphones were pretty straightforward
since it is just a
cylinder mesh. The straps on the other hand, I first started with a half arc
and duplicated it. Then I just combined the meshes and just connected the
unconnected vertices right in the middle. Seeing that the design has
a simplistic color palette, I really don't need to explain it much more so
I will meet you guys at the end of this video. All right! Now, the video is about to be
finished. I want to thank everybody who has subscribed to the channel and
I appreciate all
of your likes and comments and all the time that you gave to
watch my videos. I appreciate all of you. Also, I am planning on starting commissions, but I don't have much knowledge on the
technical aspects of it. So if you have any advice or tips for me, do comment it
down below. I would really appreciate it. All right now here's the full
model of Dazzen's redesign of BMO!

wow this design look even cuter in 3d! nice work ^.^
I love tiny bmo
Such a nice work, mate!
Very cute design, very cute model! As someone who's gotten loads of commissions, I'd say the most important thing is just setting a price point that is worth it for your time and effort. And to not take a massive backlog of them. Keep the number relatively low to prevent burnout. Most commission artists use PayPal, but there's other options if you're in a country that can't use it. I have a question tho. Trying to get into blockbench so I've been watching your videos. I intend to rig in Blender, bot blockbench. Are there any downsides to having lots of free floating geometry? You seem to do that a lot, and the results look great, but when I was watching blender/general 3d modeling tutorials, people seemed to prefer to keep everything on the same mesh as much as possible
Very cute! Could you tell me where you got the top left and bottom left and bottom middel refs from?
Did you use 64x or 128x or maybe 256x
