Mark Hamill actually really wanted to end the 6th movie by putting on vaders helmet and saying the line "ill finish what you started father" but lucas and a lot of hollywood big wigs said the ending would've led to outrage amongst the fans. This alternate ending was then picked back up years later as the plot for kylo ren.
