As you know, the films begin with the war of the last alliance. The book begins with information
about the hobbits. The first subject we will touc
h on will be the taking of the ring from sauron.
While the war of the Last Alliance was going on in the film, Sauron came to the battlefield and
swung Elendil with a blow. Elendil fell to the ground and his sword fell right next to him. While
Isildur was standing next to his father's body, Sauron came towards him and Isildur wanted
to take his father's sword Narsil and attack, but Sauron pressed the sword and broke it. Then,
as he reached towards Isildur with his hand, Isildur swung the bro
ken Narsil, cut
Sauron's finger and took the ring. Thus, Sauron lost his physical integrity. In the books,
this situation developed differently. The siege of Barad-dûr lasted for 7 years and the siege
was so tight that Sauron came out of his tower Barad-dûr and fought with Elendil and Gil Galad
and slaughtered them both. As Elendil fell, his sword was broken under him. But Sauron was
also exhausted and they managed to knock him down. While Sauron was lying unconscious on the ground,
Isildu
r cut the Ring of from Sauron's hand with the broken piece of Narsil and took the ring from
the broken finger. Thus, Sauron was defeated and his spirit went away and hid in ruined places
and could not be seen on earth for many years.
