ran into the railing with my uh I guess my midsection but it was my my leg hit the camera which is was the thing that was bothering me the most but adrenaline helped uh it's a little stiff now a little swollen but nothing nothing serious so it was your right your right leg Yeah right right shin a little below the knee so avoided any anything on the knee which was which is good and you come back and you strike out Darnell with that fast ball both the Zone like are you even thinking about it at th
at point or uh no I wasn't the the adrenaline truly just took over and then it was actually probably two batters later I started to feel it a little bit but at that point it's you know there's not much I can do about it so I'll get treatment after the game and just push through it but uh I think I escaped with anything too serious it probably looked worse than it really was thankfully uh next time you know maybe I'll just try to you know not run into the camera well you know look like you were t
rying to downplay it by saying like I'm okay I'm okay yeah no I was I I saw him coming out but uh honestly right when it happened it it wasn't bothering me I didn't think there anything of it and it was just a couple batters later where I was like all right there's maybe a little something there but um I wasn't too concerned about it how you approach a game in an inning like that when it's tight they're good you know there's not really anybody behind you except B for the ninth and it's kind of d
o or die uh I mean I knew um I didn't really care about how many pitches I was going to throw I just I knew I was in deep counts a lot but at that point you just got to work on getting through the inning and like when I had the base open with aunia um obviously he one of the best hitters in the game game I wasn't going to give him anything to hit especially when I got 22 3-2 um try to make him Chase and if I walk him I walk him um and albz obviously I I didn't want the walk cuz bases were loaded
but I threw the exact pitch I wanted 3-2 I I don't didn't see the replay yet it LO looked to me like he swung but obviously he didn't probably so just the way he turned um probably held the bat back though so it was a good take and but I executed the pitch and um getting Riley out on a on a slider was big what did just the final few Innings of that game feel like in general I mean it's it's April yeah 8th or whatever it is but it felt like more intense game it was it was very intense uh I don't
know if you saw but I I I had the pitch comom on 20 when the bases were loaded and I couldn't hear anything so uh they were loud credit to them it was it was a packed house and and made it hard for me to hear the pitchcar anybody yelling fence when I was running to the to catch that little flyball so uh it was loud and it was a cool environment for sure that 20 out of 20 uh uhum yeah it was on 20 on 20 and I could not I could not hear it I could not hear it so I called Ali out and then even aft
er that it was just kind of like a faint like I could hear up or you know like slider but it was just at other times I have it on like 12 or 13 cuz I don't want it to be too loud but I clicked it up it was on like 17 when I went in and then I clicked it up all the way to 20 and I couldn't hear it you've talked about wanting more experience in high leverage situations are you with more experience are you able to sort of slow things down slow your emotions down yeah for sure um I think getting tha
t strike out of Kellick was was huge and that was a big moment but uh I knew the job wasn't done and I just tried to stay poised and maybe in past years I get a little too amped up and and you know Focus drifts because you get a big out but you the job wasn't done and I had other great hitters coming up and I knew that and uh just tried to stay focused and execute pitches so what did you think of the game after you left the game uh I feel like the guys we got to given the credit to the relievers
U the guys did the the job and obviously the offense was there uh they battled the whole game and and and that's about it obviously uh um I'm glad that they picked me up um as a as a starter you don't want to go on to um in two3 but uh like I said appreciate that the guys step up for me and and did the uh the pitching part what you assess your performance uh I feel like the first two inning we good we're good and then the fif and the third inning I kind of get it complicated I kind of U sagate
myself trying to make it um be too fine I would call that like that and uh I walk two guys and you know how it is whenever you walk guys is it's like a free run that you give in uh to the other team and and I feel like with them that's something that can happen because they they take advantage of the of the the mistakes that we make and I feel like it's part of it and uh I mean as a starting obviously I my first game I didn't want that to happen but um I would say that the next one will be bette
r can you contribute some of that maybe to the layoff that you had I don't want to make excuse because I don't want to I don't want to just point to something but uh uh definitely I feel happy the first two innings I feel like uh especially to this team uh they got the pretty good players there the whole lineup and and and the way that my pitches were I feel like uh uh if I get like that the next one it will be better especially having more the pitch count have any more you don't have to think a
bout being e economy or something like that they they definitely was in my mind I was trying to get uh quick Innings and that's when you when you're trying to do too much that's when happens you you you end up having longers inning what was it like pitching here as part of the opposition uh you know that I wasn't I wasn't thinking about that I really was focus on on go out there and and and give my team the chance to win and I know that uh I got a lot of memories in this B to be honest I I wasn'
t thinking about that I was just really focusing that I have the Mets uning for him and and and I was competing to win the game for for my team just way to compete way to go out there and do my job I mean obviously it's um teran's first game back and obviously he wasn't on full pitch count but I mean he went out there and competed and battled um and obviously we kept chipping away and kept scoring some runs so I was just trying to do my job of keeping it as close as I could and knowing that the
bullpen was light today with the back three guys down do you how do you mentally prepare for you know three UPS 30 going on 40 pitches uh I'm just going to take the ball whenever my name's called and then however long it is I'm going to just go there and do the best I can how how good have these last two outings felt for you yeah uh I think it started in spring training um actually I think towards the end of the season last year made some adjustments and came back up and um had some success so I
think that that was kind of going into this offseason kind of propelled me to keep working and keep getting better um but yeah they obviously they feel great and winning is awesome so whatever we can do as a team to to to win and if that's my part of going out there in for three Innings I'm going to do the best I can given sort of the intensity the final Innings of that game I does this feel like the second week of the season I to be honest I was nervous in the in here and I wasn't even in the
game anymore I came in here and I just uh like we're all I mean we put together great at bats we played great defense I mean that the play that Tyrone made in Outfield was huge um so I think we're all just put in the work and doing everything that we can to to to win so obviously it is the second week of the season but it's it's winning is fun no matter what you were nervous in here after you pitched yeah yeah anxious excited and I think that we I mean we all we all that's what we're here to do
is to win so I think like when when it comes to that time and great team that we're facing I mean I think that to no matter what to to get that win's huge what has it been like just the bullpen collectively kind of rallying around each other obviously you guys have been pretty strong all year long so um I think that uh obviously we all want to push each other to be the best we can and um with the mentorship of of Otto and sugar and and Brooks and Jake I mean guys that have been around and done i
t for a long time it's cool to have those guys in your corner
