The boys! -Come on, boys. -They were fire. -That was sick. -Fellas, great job. -Thank you so much. -Thank you. -Ducote, I love that kind of scratchy part of your midrange of your voice. -Thank you. Especially at the beginning of the song, it was
kinda like a whisper. -Thank you. -On the bigger notes, it turned into more like a growl a bit. And there were moments when I would want to dial the growl back just a little bit, but it was minor. And I enjoyed watching you perform. It was great. -Thank you so much. -And then, Ryan, your tone's a little smoothed out a bit, and I loved your interaction. I thought you sounded great together. If I were to choose, I would lean a little bit towards Ducote. I think his tone was a little more interest
ing for me. -Wow. -Thanks, John. -Ducote, I did love your tone a lot. I am from Oklahoma. You're from Alabama. -Right there. -Got that same kind of dialect going. And, Ryan, you being from Pennsylvania, nothing against that at all. Just a little farther north. But you guys sounded great together. I think the difference of your dialect did enhance the part, because we knew who was singing when, and that was an added bonus. It was really good. I enjoyed it. If I had to decide, I'd go with Ducote.
-Thank you. -Thank you. -I saw it a little differently. -Alright now, Chance the Rapper. -Okay. First of all, I know you might find this hard to believe, I've never heard this song before. I don't know the song. -Country aficionado Chance the Rapper is not familiar with this song. -I'm surprised. -How many country songs are there? -We're gonna get you a cowboy hat next season. We'll get a "3" on it, be a whole thing. -I would agree with John in that one of the biggest distinctions is the tone. I
think that Ryan really wanted it. He had great control. I even noticed in some parts when they were doing the harmony he was helping Ducote a little bit. You know, I-I think that if it was my choice, I would go Ryan. -Thank you, Chance. Thank you. -Thank you, coaches. -Oh, man. What are you thinking? -Alright, Dan and Shay, you got a tough decision here. You've heard from the other coaches. Before you tell us who won, what'd you think of the battle? -The boys are conferring. -Yeah, can we go to
commercial break or something? -Yeah. -We need time. -No. Carson's shaking his head no. -Okay, I guess we got to figure this out. I loved the battle, man. That was incredible. I'm so proud of you boys. All the breath-control stuff we worked on in rehearsals, I felt like y'all took that home, took it to heart, and brought the heat today. Y'all killed it. Ducote, I felt like the very beginning, I sensed a little bit of nerves, a little pitchy on that first line. That's okay. This is a tough spot.
It felt like you were out here to win this battle. -Thank you. -You're a star onstage. And, Ryan, man, your pitch is fantastic. You have so much control over those high notes. You have an incredible range. Very, very technically strong singer. Man, this is -- this is gonna be tough. -It's so hard. It's gonna come down, to be honest, for me of -- of who we think brought the most passion to this song. I'm really just talking 'cause I have no idea what I'm gonna do. -This is hard. This is hard. -D
an + Shay, two of your best right here. They just had a heck of a battle. But only one can move on. Who is the winner of this battle? -The band's gonna play the "Jeopardy!" music now. -Hey, buddy, love you. -Good job. Love you, brother. -Alright, I think we're -- I think we're ready. -I think so. -The winner of this battle... ...is Ducote. -Ducote's moving on to the knockouts for Team Dan + Shay. -God, that sucks. -Damn. -Ducote and Ryan was one of the closest battles. They both crushed it, but
Ducote just connected with the lyric and the emotion of the song like the littlest bit more, like 5% more. He's magnetic, and the texture of his voice is really, really special. -I don't know how y'all made that decision. -Ducote's something that the competition needs. We just couldn't send him home. -I'm going to the knockouts. Let's go! -Ryan, anything you want to say to Dan + Shay? -Man, I cannot thank you guys enough. This has been an opportunity of a lifetime. You were two of the most real,
down-to-earth people I've ever met. Just so privileged to be here. So thank you so much. -Give it up for Ryan Coleman, everybody.

@M.Wonderland27

Wow I thought Ryan did way better and can’t believe no one stole him.

@jennifersmith8640

I think Ryan was the better singer for this particular battle.

@kimberlym.3643

I hope someone gives Ryan a recording contract. I see him being a country artist.

@jeannewilson6757

I don't care for country music, but have a great ear for any music from directing musicals for years. I have to agree with Chance, Ryan's voice was hands down the best of this battle.

@user-ed5ok9me7e

Ryans voice is flexible 😢. I love his voice

@1337Glue

Ryan's voice really cuts through, and Ducote has a unique voice. Id have to say I prefer Ryan overall.

@paulmercado7025

Ryan should have won the battle round! He deserves bigger than the competition. I hope any recording label will being him contracts.

@colleenchoquette1236

Ryan just looks like he is already a country star.

@szaborita-sarolta3970

It should be Ryan

@franhab5539

Loved both voices. Ryan the better singer, big guy crazy texture.

@giannishen

Ryan 👈🤩👍 They chose the wrong person!

@user-sd7kh5ey8q

Dan + Shay are doing such a good job with these Battles arrangements. Ducote's voice has so many textures I am excited to see what he's gonna do each week. But for this performance, I do think Ryan held his own better and gave the better vocal performance.

@anitabreakone

Ryan won imo. He was one of the best on the show. So ridiculous.

@jacobmccain8794

I think Ducote has a such an interesting voice with all that rasp!However, Ryan’s choices were so pro here! His range is really incredible. He actually showed some really great vocal prowess here! I think Ryan is even better than he showed here. Imo, just based on who I want to hear sing again, it’s Ryan. I also think they both exuded a lot of passion, but Ryan’s voice is clear and cuts through!

@robertantonnyc

Ducote starting with all that rusty husk 2 his vocal, Ryan came in cleaner, very intense. Their voices complementary. Exciting belt, in harmony. Ryan really goes in, rough & tumble. He can add in the rasp. Very intense duo.

@anitabreakone

Chance was right. Ryan helped Dacoute out. Ryan you were amazing and you won.

@jt1364

Ryan would have been my pick.

@servusbob6714

Ryan's voice is authentic.

@aloverofstories

I thought Ryan won this. Seriously. But congrats to Ducote.

@user-pl8wg8kt9l

They worry Ryan will win, so send him home first. Remember Ryan Gallagher and CoCo Lee?
