so you want to work in the UK media industry from Chief teamaker to Media Mogul there are a wide range of roles available we're going to give you an insight into which of the UK's big media providers offer entry-level roles from production jobs to the more corporate side of things let's start by looking at what roles are available at the entry level as with most other sectors you can work for larger media companies in most business areas for example Finance marketing and Human Resources this is
a good way of doing a more corporate job with decent pay and an exciting sector then in terms of more creative production roles a lot of people start off as a runner or assistant here are some great companies and resources for those roles we're now going to look at what a few of the biggest companies offer first up the BBC offers both apprenticeships and grad schemes it's worth noting that BBC Studios was named as the best place to work in the UK television industry by glass door in 2024 which i
s a great sign because it's based on reviews from employees that work there so let's get into what they offer two of their apprenticeship schemes pay around 205,000 which doesn't sound much but they're essentially paying for you to get a qualification which is amazing the more experienced schemes for more experienced hires include software development which pay between 22.4k to 32.5 next up Sky TV we would massively recommend sky as a place to start your career as they have well established grad
schemes and if you're based in their headquarters the campus is incredible with a cinema massive gym and 13 restaurants the only negative is that it's slightly out of London near heo airport so what roles are available there's these eight internship programs available and these are amazing as if they go well can guarantee you a spot on the grad scheme Then There are 16 different graduate programs which offer some great on the- job training sky has a good culture of allowing you to move around a
nd try different things things so a good place to go if you're not entirely sure about what you want to go into then there's nine apprenticeship programs and this one content Academy placement which is aimed at groups that are typically underrepresented in the industry next up ITV ITV offers this news trainers ship program where you work as a traine journalist for 9 months on their website they also mention that they hire Runners on a daily or weekly basis we'll link resources below for where yo
u can find these jobs advertised they also run apprenticeship schemes again good for avoiding debt and a technology graduate scheme which requires a degree in a science maths or engineering subject annoyingly the likes of Netflix Disney and Amazon Prime video don't offer established schames in the UK just yet finally Channel 4 channel 4 also offers apprenticeships it's worth knowing that with these and most other apprenticeships you usually spend 80% of your time working and 20% studying like th
e others they offer a production training scheme specifically aimed at people who may face barriers to access a career in the television industry so to conclude the BBC Sky ITV and channel 4 are great companies to look at for schemes and programs to get into the media and entertainment industry quick one please subscribe if you want more content like this we're a brand new channel so every like and comment makes a massive difference it's also worth checking out screen skills and these other webs
ites for useful resources thanks for watching bye
