RPGs set in fantasy worlds are my favorite type of game. Some time ago , between searching and searching for the game, I came across Fantasy Life. The truth is that I didn't have much faith in the game, not because of its graphics but rather because I assumed that it was a game more focused on children and that it wouldn't be too difficult for me. I decided to give it a try for a great reason. The fact that Level-5 is one of its developers really caught my attention. In case you don't know, Leve
l-5 has been the developer of many renowned video games such as Professor Layton, Dragon Quest VIII and Ni no Kuni, which I have pending. I want to say that in Fantasy Life I found a fantastic role-playing game with a level of customization not very advanced but with plenty of options for the player. So I'm going to talk about this gem on the Nintendo 3DS because it's worth a review. If you want to stay, remember that my name is Fideblaymid Cruz, don't forget to comment, like and subscribe if at
the end of this video you liked its content. Although it is already a game that we could consider old, Fantasy Life originally came out in 2012 in Japan, but here in the West it came out two years later. Without going into spoilers, I will tell you about what I liked the most about this installment. The story of Fantasy Life revolves around Reveria, a world that is divided between the main kingdoms of Castele, Port Puerto, Al Maajik. Each kingdom has its particularities and in each of them you
will be able to find different items that you will not find elsewhere, therefore you will keep traveling from one place to another to be able to equip yourself with the best weapons and armor. Your character, who meets a chattering butterfly, will be involved in a great adventure that will involve saving the world of Reveria before it collapses due to some strange events with rocks that have fallen from the sky. First of all, it must be said that Fantasy Life is an Action RPG-type game, that is,
you will always be actively battling enemies, and that means that you must know how, where and when to attack, as well as the type of weapon and attack what do you use In the game there are a total of 12 jobs, of which 4 are focused on combat. We are talking about the paladin, who usually uses swords and a shield, the mercenary who will use swords occupying both hands, the magician who can use water, fire, wind or earth magic and the archer. In the game, as you fight and use your weapons you wi
ll gain experience with them which will make you better at fighting and will allow you to wield more powerful weapons. In the case of magicians, you will not only improve your ability with magic but also with the type of magic you use, that is, you will be able to be a magician with a high level of water or fire or wind or earth magic, it all depends on the use you make . you read in combat. The interesting thing about the game is that if from one moment to the next you no longer want to be an a
rcher, you can become a paladin without losing the progress you had, and this is thanks to the profession system that the game offers, which I will explain later. The enemies in the story mode are not usually very difficult, however, thanks to the large number of secondary missions and job missions that the game has, you can go searching and hunting both monsters and very powerful bosses for which you must go quite prepared and that in my case I had to become more powerful to defeat them. So the
game is quite challenging when it comes to fighting these types of bosses, even after beating the game, you will need to level up your skills and discover interesting loot if you want to face some of the more difficult monsters. Taking the above into account, it is important to emphasize one of the most striking features of the game, the trades system. In the process of creating the character, Fantasy Life allows you to customize it in very interesting ways, first of all you can make it a boy o
r a girl, clearly you will be able to edit some aspects of its body and finally choose its name. At an initial moment you will not have any profession, but you will be able to choose between a total of 12 professions, 4 of them specialized in combat that I already named before and 3 gathering professions, which are miner, lumberjack and fisherman, and 5 creation professions, which are blacksmith, carpenter, alchemist, cook and tailor. Your character will be able to choose and hold a single job,
which will level up as long as you have it active and perform tasks associated with it. However, you can change your profession whenever you want and improve your level in another field without losing the one you already had, so you can be a miner to collect materials such as metals, which you can later transform into swords or shields with the blacksmith profession and finally use them in combat with the office of paladin. You can improve in each profession as much as you want, the interesting
thing is that each profession has a series of levels that are completed as you do secondary missions and improve your skill in that field, so if you want, you can even do all the professions and raise them to their maximum level. However, I will tell you that this task is not easy at all, the more you level up in a profession, the more the difficulty of the missions or the tasks to be completed will increase, however, leveling up in a profession is productive, since each level passed adds improv
ements to your character's characteristics, as long as he is equipped with that job. This is one of the aspects that promises the player many hours in Fantasy Life and it should be noted that if you raise the maximum level in a profession, you will be able to obtain some interesting sets that will greatly improve your character and characteristics in said profession. Fantasy Life is a game that takes place in an open world, although initially you will only be able to explore an area of the map
, and you can choose to do secondary missions or level up your professions without advancing in the story. Obviously, if you want more areas of the game to open up for you and be able to explore them at ease, you must advance in the main plot. There is so much that can be done in Fantasy Life, that you can even dedicate yourself to making a lot of money by doing tasks in a specific profession and leveling it up, which will allow you to get better weapons or items, either bought or made by yourse
lf. The advantage of creation trades such as carpenters, blacksmiths, alchemists, cooks or tailors, is that in more advanced levels you can create your weapons, potions or food with improvements, something that you will not be able to achieve only if you buy them normally . This fact makes each trade in the game remarkable, and it depends on our decision if throughout the story we want to focus on developing just one to the maximum, or we want to have all of them and be a master of trades. Obvio
usly, the more trades we want to level up, the more extensive the experience in Fantasy Life, since we will enter caves, forests and endless places to get special products and be able to raise the level of our trade. The battles in Fantasy Life are not too complex for an Action RPG. However, there are many powerful bosses that are part of the side missions that will require a higher level and reading of their movements in order to be victorious. The way we face the monsters in the game will depe
nd a lot on the profession you have, as well as throwing weapons, since it is important to know how to use them. If you have a combat job active, such as paladin, archer, mage, or mercenary, you should keep in mind that they will also have skills that will improve as you complete side quests specific to that job. This will represent a great advantage in combat. However, I must state that in terms of the paladin, archer and mercenary skills they are not as diverse as that of the mage, and that ma
kes the game fall short in terms of the skills available for combat professions and that battles they sit almost the same. Something that should be noted is that you can ask a maximum of two NPCs from the game to accompany you to fight. Each NPC will offer skills and forms of combat that you can take advantage of. You will also be able to do that with your in-game pet, who you can also bring along to fight by your side. And if you have friends, you can also play with a maximum of two of them in
battles against monsters and bosses. It should be noted that in the game you will be able to have a house and acquire some more during the story, but in addition to that you will be able to sleep in them and decorate them to your liking, even with the job of carpenter you will be able to make your own furniture. In the game it also stands out that there is a day and night cycle, therefore many game characters as well as monsters will not be in the same places depending on the time of day. Making
friends with the villagers and helping them with side quests will allow us to earn bonuses that we can later exchange for useful things for the character, such as the ability to carry items or gain access to more sophisticated mounts. In the creation trades, mini-games will be presented, which I feel become quite repetitive afterwards, but they put your skill to the test since to create the objects you will have to press the buttons at the necessary moments. If you do it right, the probability
of getting an item with better characteristics will be higher. In Fantasy Life you are the one who commands the rhythm that you want to give to your character as well as to the story. You can customize it and give it your style in every way. As soon as you learn weapons and trades, you will be able to live a short but striking story, although predictable in many aspects. You will be able to continue discovering places or improve your craft even after the game, as well as face bosses that will re
present a real challenge. In Fantasy Life you will be able to find a horror game that you will possibly dedicate many hours to, as you will be able to experience each profession to your liking and explore all corners of Riveria. Oh, and of course, there is an expansion called The Island of Origin, which adds more content and new levels to the professions. It will be quite a long adventure and always accompanied by a quite diverse and incredible soundtrack. In general, something that can always b
e expected in a good RPG is a soundtrack that knows how to accompany the best moments of the game and Fantasy Life achieves it perfectly with very fresh, striking compositions that are perfect for an RPG like this. After all, its composer is none other than Nobou Uematsu, the same composer for the soundtracks of most Final Fantasy and other renowned RPG games.
