Kia ora, dydh da and hello. My name is Tessa and  I’m your Cornish Kiwi Coach. Today I’m going to talk about homesickness, which can happen  if you’re adjusting to a new environment, a new way of life or perhaps a different  culture. Let’s face it, being away from your creature comforts and things that are familiar  to you, can be really difficult and can bring up a range of emotions. You may feel angry, sad,  tearful, or you may lose sleep or feel anxious. All of these feelings are normal becau
se you are  going through a transition process of adapting to a different surrounding and way of living. There  are some things you can do to support yourself, to adjust to your new environment. So here are  a few tips. Firstly, it can be helpful to give yourself time to get used to everything that is  new. So take the pressure off yourself trying to learn and do everything at once, take small steps  and try and enjoy this new adventure that you’re on! Tip number 2) Don’t forget to reach out to 
friends and family you trust so that you can chat through how you are feeling, as this can also  help you gain a new perspective on your situation. You've got people around you, you really do.  Tip number 3) to help you through the feeling of homesickness It can be helpful to set some goals  for yourself so that you meet new people and make new friends. You can do this through attending  events, or taking up a new hobby. It is important that you try and adjust and get yourself out there  so tha
t you are meeting new people. Tip number 4) be kind to yourself, look after yourself, and  keep doing the things you enjoy. It is also important to get a good night’s sleep, be active  and nurture your body with nutritious food. This will all contribute towards you feeling better  about yourself. Tip number 5) You would have been within situations in your lifetime so far, that  you have overcome. Think about the strategies you used then that helped you, that can help you now.  Remember the coura
ge it took to take yourself out of your comfort zone and to be on this adventure  that you're on. There is so much more courage within you! You have done that and there will  be so much more courage within you, this is a really exciting new chapter of your  life. Believe in it, believe in you, believe in the vision that you have and why  you're here. They all add value to your life, the experiences are rich, they will help you,  for years to come.
