Film Burn Tutorial! - Quick Tips #1

Hey and welcome to the first episode of Quick Tips! As some of you might already know, I'm in the middle of writing my bachelor's thesis that's why I don't have much time to make any elaborate videos at the moment. So I created this new format where I'll teach you something important in a very short amount of time. So today I'll be showing you how to create a classic film burn look. It's perfect for the transition between shots. This is what the effect is eventually going to look like. And I'll

show you how to create it now. The first step is to search for a free filmburn overlay on youtube. Then you just go through clips and look for one that suits your video and then download it with a youtube downloader. It's no big deal if the clip isn't Full HD you can even use 720p clips with your 4k video and still get great results. Then you just go over to your editing software like Premiere or for me as always that's in Final Cut. Just drag the filmburn clip over the cut you want it to appear

in. And then choose "add" in your compositing drop down menu. That's basically it and this is what it will look like. I really like this effect especially in summer, travel or vacation videos. Just pay attention to not overusing the effect, maybe not more than 3 or 4 times in one video. It's easy to get tired of the effect so just don't overuse it.
