Final Ant Species Reveal - Empires of the Undergrowth

The final ant species that you play as in Empires of the Undergrowth is revealed in this creature feature video. In the expansive savannah of sub-Saharan Africa, the sun scorches the earth during the day and creatures find different ways to survive. Some dig; some build spire-topped cathedrals. Some of the diggers feed on the builders. Large, powerful, and specialised, Megaponera analis - the Matabele ant - feeds almost entirely on termites. They habitually conduct sweeping raids of nearby mounds at dawn and dusk, when the heat is more forgiving. You'll take command of this fearsome colony in the upcoming final chapter of Empires of the Undergrowth, coming later this year. =================================== Empires of the Undergrowth is a real-time strategy game set in the world of ants! These are Megaponera analis - the Matabele ants. They are large, fierce, and specialise in raiding termite nests. The termites, although much smaller than the ants, are far from easy game. They have their own soldier castes whose job is to make the raids as difficult as possible for the ants. With durable head armour and keen jaws, it is not uncommon for the defenders to maim and even kill raiding soldiers. In most ant colonies, injured soldiers are left to die on the battlefield. But the Matabe
le do not forsake the sisters so easily. Ants wounded in battle and unable to walk release pheromones calling their comrades for help. The casualties are carried home and nursed back to health.
