it has now been six months since we as creators  got the opportunity to monetize YouTube shorts so in this video I am going to share exactly how  much money I got paid on my first six months of YouTube shorts monetization so let's get started  hi everyone welcome back to my Channel or if you're new here welcome my name is Flor I'm a  first time Mom in my 30s living in New York City and working as a full-time content creator and  this channel is a mix of all that I talk about the behind the scene
s of being an influencer like  for example this video sharing exactly how much money YouTube paid me I also do blogs here in  the city and I also talk a bit about my journey through motherhood through pregnancy and all  that if you like any of this of course consider hitting the Subscribe button down below hitting  the notification Bell so you can get notified of every time I upload a new video every single week  as I mentioned in the intro this is going to be a new video of YouTube analytics wh
ere I share  exactly how much money YouTube pays me and this time we are going to be talking about YouTube  shorts so I'm not going to do like a huge intro into YouTube shorts and monetization and all that  because I've already done a previous video when I posted back in March where I talked about my  first month of YouTube shorts monetization and in that video I talked about what YouTube shorts  are how to get monetized on YouTube I've also done a video talking about how to get your first  thou
sand subscribers I've done some previous videos about the requirements to get monetized  if you're doing long-term video if you're doing shorts so all those previous monetization videos  will be linked Down Below in the description box if you want to go ahead and check them out and so  that in this video I don't explain all over again everything that I've explained in those previous  ones so if you're here just for the facts just for how much money I got paid on my first six months  of being mon
etized then you're gonna get exactly that so I have my computer right here and we're  gonna go so month by month first of all we are going to be looking at the month of February of  2023 so as I mentioned in my previous video about my first month of YouTube shorts monetization  knowing that YouTube would start paying for the ads displayed before YouTube shorts I really went  hard during February and I tried to upload as many many videos as I could I have mentioned this in  a previous video but d
uring January and February I was mostly not uploading new content to YouTube  you'll see that they're like no long-term videos on my channel but I was like quietly going back  into uploading by uploading just shorts so you'll see over here that I uploaded two new videos  every single day of the month of February of 2023 so a total of 56 new videos which is quite a  lot and I don't think it happened any time before February or any time after February of 2023 but  it was a good strategy energy I t
hink that it performed well as you'll see here posting twice  a day posting a total of 56 new shorts helped me get 23.2 000 views shorts were shown in feed a  total of 75.7 000 times this is something that it's only shown for shorts and not for videos  but it's something to know about I got a total of 512 likes I got 51 new subscribers and this  is important for me even though this video is all about monetization and all about the money I  made I've mentioned this before and I'll probably talk a
bit more about this at the end of this  video but for me shorts are about getting new subscribers that has been my strategy from day  one I just want to get more subscribers more eyeballs on my channel more people discovering my  content and if any revenue is possible then that's great but if not subscribers are for me at least  the way to go so getting 51 new subscribers is really really great news and in terms of Revenue  during the month of February of 2023 first month of YouTube shorts bein
g monetized I got a total  of 1.35 so not allowed to be honest as I have mentioned before the subway fare here in New York  now it's at 2.90 so what I've earned during the month of February with YouTube shorts wouldn't  be even enough to pay for one subway ride which means it's not a lot there are not many things you  can buy for one dollar and 35 cents here in New York sadly so no idea but again my main goal was  getting new subscribers getting 50 subscribers for a channel like mine with around
2 000 subscribers  it's quite a lot so thumbs up for the subscribers and for now at least we're gonna look past the  actual revenue and I also want to show you which of my videos were actually the best performing  once during the month of February unlike long-form content YouTube shorts usually perform best on the  month that you upload them long-term videos in a platform like YouTube which is a search engine  actually sometimes perform well when you post them and then maybe a year after that o
r two years  after that they get picked up by search and then they start gaining views again or maybe you post  a video and it keeps on getting views month after month and year after year but shorts they are more  like the type of content that you see on Instagram or on Tick Tock where you're shown the most recent  content and once that content is like a few days old a few weeks old or like a month old there are  like not many chances that that content will be shown that much again on people's s
creens maybe  something might get picked up by search but it's not as common as with long-form content so you're  going to see that my top earning shorts for every month are going to be sure that I uploaded that  month and not few months before that in the case of February my best shorts were the ones that  I posted on Fifth Avenue and 17th Street this was like a really really short clip just showing  someone riding a bike and like some cars passing by I don't know why it performed well I mean i
t  was a nice video but it was like nothing like out of the ordinary then the video about the close-up  to my bun which was like a selfie video with details of my makeup and my hair that I did for  a previous video then a video showing our Villa at our hotel in the Maldives during our honeymoon  slash baby moon and then two shorts that I created from my New York City apartment tour that I posted  back in 2020 so you'll see that this shorts gained each of them between like 8 cents and 20 cents  s
o not much money but this was like just getting started so I was hopeful that if I earn like  a dollar and 35 cents in February things could get better are in March so moving on to March  this month I was not as consistent as I was in the month of February in terms of uploading mainly  because during February I scheduled all the videos that were supposed to go live like two each day so  that's why I uploaded as much content as I did but then during March I had some videos scheduled at  the begin
ning of the month and then I did what I could with the content that I was producing and  posting on my other platforms I was trying to replicate that to YouTube shorts so you're gonna  see at the beginning of the month March 1st until March 9 I uploaded two shorts every single day and  then mid-march I started uploading like one video per day or maybe one video every two to three  to four days so that definitely meant an impact on the views that I got you'll see that I got  10.1 000 views my sho
rts were shown in fee 31.2 000 times so roughly half or less than half the  amount that they were shown in feed during the month of February I got 215 likes and I got  a total of 20 new subscribers so again around half the amount that I got during the month of  February overall I would say that for posting like half the amount of shorts that I posted in  February it's pretty normal that I got like half the amount of views half the amount of subscribers  and all that and in terms of Revenue you'l
l see that I got 0.50 so 50 cents that's all I got  which again it's not great not ideal getting money through ads display before your YouTube  shorts It's hard we're gonna be talking more about this as this video progresses but I would  say this is pretty normal pretty standard you'll see that my top earning shorts were again shorts  that I posted this month most of them around near Fashion Week and each of these top earning shorts  made me around 5 cents or 4 cents or three cents which is not
much so March was definitely not the  best month moving on to April I really don't know what happened this month as you'll see here I just  uploaded two shorts so I had 30 days and I just uploaded two shorts honestly I don't know what  went down I know that I was working quite a lot on my long form video so that might be the reason  but two shorts definitely not great as you'll see here I got 585 views shown in feed 1.5 000 times  12 likes and just one subscriber just one and in terms of Revenue
you'll see that I only earn two  cents so you might earn more money like walking down the street and like finding two paintings on  the floor or like a corner or I don't know some someone dropped five bucks two cents not great  and we're gonna be talking more about this at the end of this video but you'll see that for shorts  the revenue is not gonna be great unless you're gaining like thousands and thousands or millions  of views revenue is not gonna be great so I think having a strategy where
you use the videos that  you posted to your reels or to tick tock and then sharing them on YouTube shorts or transforming  your long-form videos into YouTube shorts might be like the way to go so that you don't feel that  I am doing all this and I'm just earning two cents because if you just spent let's say 20 minutes  thinking about an idea for a video then preparing to film that video filming that editing and then  maybe working on captions or color grading or whatever that might be and then
uploading them  you're gonna be thinking I did all this and I'm saying 20 minutes and I'm being like generous it  probably might take you more than 20 minutes and you're just earning like one cent it's definitely  gonna get very frustrating I think that if you are uploading shorts to YouTube either your strategy  is I'm not thinking about the money and more about gaining new subscribers reaching a new audience  like my case or you're going for like the very very viral videos that are gonna get t
housands  and millions of views so you're actually going to be earning lots of money for your videos moving  on now to the month of May of 2023 this month I posted a total of 12 shorts which is not quite a  lot I would say it's like around one every two or three days some days I just had one some other  days I had three shorts I gained a total of 1.4 000 views they were shown in feed 5.2 000 times  47 likes and just one subscriber so I think you'll see that as time progresses of course I was not
as consistent as I was in the month of February but now only that I think that you start to see  more competition and what I mean by this is that I was not the only person for sure that started  uploading more content because YouTube started paying money for ads displayed in front of shorts  I'm sure a lot of people found out about this monetization update and they said I am going  to start uploading shorts and so you can see that just by the fact that there are more shorts  out there more peo
ple uploading shorts that your shorts your own content is being shown less and  less and because of that you're getting less views and because of that you're getting less money  so I think by may I would say it's like a mix of my own strategy like my own schedule in terms  of uploading but also how many other shorts are being uploaded every single second or every single  minute around the world and that viewers are being shown and more offer of course means less of your  own content being shown
in feet and so this month for this 12 videos I earned a total of seven cents  which if you think about it and what I earned in previous month I would say this is the month that  has like the lowest ratio the lowest like return on investment or whatever you want to call it in  terms of how many videos I uploaded and then how much money I earned for those videos and again my  top earning shorts are the ones that I uploaded this month I earned like two cents or one cent  or less than one cent not g
reat not great so far moving on now to the month of June of 2023 almost  getting to the end here June was a month that I was not very active in general if you look at  this for example these are my Instagram stories for the month of June so you'll see that I was not  posting much June was the month that my husband my daughter and I we travel to Argentina so Julia  my daughter she could meet eat our family or our friends it was also the month that she got sick we  then all got sick so it was not
like an easy month in terms of like our personal lives and because  of that my work definitely like took a turn for the worse and I was not able to post as much  not only here on YouTube shorts but on YouTube in General on my Instagram basically everywhere so  you'll see that I uploaded just five shorts during the month of June and at the end of the month  so when we had just gotten back from Argentina I just got 497 views so probably the lowest in  all this month my shorts were shown in feed 1.
3 000 times I got 12 likes and this is actually the  first month that I got zero subscribers so no new subscribers from my YouTube shorts which is well  of course not great but also something new because I've seen growth through shorts during February  March April and May so definitely not ideal and then in terms of Revenue this month I earned three  cents again A bad month definitely a forgettable month you'll see that my top Ernie shorts were  earning me like one cent or half a cent so not not
great at all and finally moving on to the  month of July July was a very particular month you'll see that I didn't upload that many videos  just around like 10 or 12 videos which is not a lot but I got a total of 18.8 000 views so a lot  a lot of views and that's mainly because I started uploading shorts about my experience at the air  store at Taylor Swift's concert in New Jersey and those videos gain a lot of views so you're gonna  see here that during the 31 days of July one of the videos th
e one about the song The Man which  is like just like a few seconds that one got 7 000 views that video is now at over 20 000 views  if I'm not mistaken and it's still getting views every single day I don't know why I got picked  like by the algorithm or what but it got really popular then I got another video with 2.9  000 views another one Cruel Summer with 2.7 000 views 2 000 views with the intro of like  Taylor Swift saying hi to MetLife Stadium and then another 2000 views in the video of the
intro  to the era store so overall 18.8 000 views these shorts were shown in feed 37.9 000 times I got  a total of 900 likes which I think it's like a record in terms of like short analytics  and only got 22 new subscribers 22. [Music] and if you're wondering how much money I  earned with this 12 shorts during the month of July the answer is 1.41 so officially  July is my top earning month in terms of shorts at least for this first six months  of YouTube shorts monetizations because I earned ju
st five or six more cents than I am  during the month of February and you'll see that my top earning shorts were the ones that  got the most amount of views as I mentioned before one got 50 cents the other one got 24  cents 21 cents 18 cents and then 17 cents and now the big question of this video how much  money I got paid for YouTube shorts during the first six months of them being monetized  the big answer is three dollars and 31 cents and in case you're wondering this is for a total  of 54.6
000 views shorts shown in feet 152.9 000 times 1.7 000 likes and 95 new subscribers  I mentioned like every single analytics but the main thing to know here is that for a total of  54.6 000 views I got a total of 3.39 that is like the thing to know about this video so now that  we've gotten to this part as I usually say maybe it's your time to go if you do so please hit the  Subscribe button before leaving leave a comment down below leave a like to this video and if you  want to stay I want to
talk just a bit more about my YouTube short strategy and what I think about  the amount of money that I made so three dollars and 39 cents is definitely not a lot of money I  usually compare this to what the New York City subway costs and one ride is 2.09 sense so I can  basically just afford one ride with the amount of money I made through shorts in six months so  not a lot but at least for me as of right now there are certain things to know first of all that  YouTube and YouTube ads is not my
primary source of income luckily I have other sources of income  as a content creator other sources of income that make me more money I've talked about how I make  money and how much I get paid and all that I did two videos one all about how I earn money and my  exact sources of income it will be linked Down Below in the description box and then another one  with a q a answering some of your questions that will also be linked Down Below in the description  box so that is something to note that e
ven though I create content here on YouTube this Channel  and the ads that I make through this channel are luckily not my main source of income otherwise  I wouldn't be able to do this as a full-time job another thing to consider is that at least for  sure it's my strategy as of right now and for the past not only six months but since I first started  uploading shorts it's more about reaching a new audience mainly reaching that gen C audience that  watches short-term videos and maybe transformin
g them into subscribers if possible or if not  just getting views which is great overall and not really like making money out of this views  and another thing that I think is important to consider is that I was not consistent like I  can say that for sure I've mentioned this in some of my previous analytics videos before and  I was definitely very consistent during February and I just earned like a dollar and 30 cents so  it's like where did it take me but nonetheless most of this like six month
s I was not very  consistent and that definitely like impacts the amount of views you can get how much YouTube  ends up like recommending your content how much your shorts get shown in feed and then and how  many views you get and then how much money you can get and then one last thing to consider is  that the RPM the revenue per meal meaning like the amount of money that gets paid to YouTube by  advertisers and then the amount of money that you get paid after the cut that YouTube takes for  You
Tube shorts that is significantly less than what you might get paid for long-form videos on  YouTube so that is something to also consider as I have mentioned before unless you're making  like a million views or at least I would say 100 000 or 200 000 or 500 000 views you  won't be getting that much money through ads displayed in front of YouTube shorts  let's see for a moment like for around 50 000 views I got a total of like three dollars so  if let's say you posted shorts and each of your sho
rts got a hundred thousand views which is a lot  and thinking about the same like RPM and CPM and everything let's say each of the those shorts you  make seven dollars for each of them thinking about like the math on my channel so seven dollars  for 100 000 views think about like how many of those shorts you need to post throughout a  month to be able to make like a decent amount of money and that is thinking that you are gonna  get like a hundred thousand views just like this which is not guara
nteed of course but say you post  like once every single day so 30 videos and then each of them earning seven dollars we are talking  about like around two hundred dollars again this month is not perfect because we are just taking  into account my RPM my CPM and my channel as a reference and some other people's channels might  be quite different but I know from what I've heard through Twitter X or whatever from other creators  I know that what I'm earning is what most people are earning for this
amount of use so anyways  just like putting it out there letting you know my thoughts letting you know how I feel about this  overall I'd say I am Gonna Keep uploading shorts I am not like working on a full strategy for shorts  I'm just repurposing the content I post on reels and that I post on Tick Tock and the content that  I post on YouTube like for example like long-term videos I turn them into shorts and what I just  try to get as of right now is get into that new audience get it to that g
en Z and getting new  subscribers people that might like a short or two and then they're like oh I kind of like this  girl gonna subscribe to the channel so that's it for this video that's it for this analytics video  hope you liked it hope you enjoyed it if you did of course give it a thumbs up subscribe to the  channel if you're not subscribed already leave a comment down below let me know if you are doing  YouTube shows if you're a content creator and how much money you're earning for YouTube
shorts  would love to know your details your analytics leave a comment down below let me know and as  I always say I will see you on the next one bye
