Busy Works Beats

7 days ago

hello and welcome to busy Works beats.com guys we  have breaking news FL Studio 21.3 is now here in beta form and they have a bunch of new features  and we're going to go through each feature and see like how we can enter it in our workflow so  let's hop straight into the doll I'm going to read from the official list and then I'll show  you guys what each is so for those who don't know FL Studio 21.2 has been rocking with the  scripts updates and just workflow updates for music producers it's no
t just for composers  it's also for music producers here we have a whole list of new features the first is called  Kepler XO so if you don't remember um Kepler was their first plug-in they introduced in the last  you know I forget how many updates ago but this was like a I think it's modeled after the Juno  pretty basic synth you know it's pretty quick as far as sound designing and it has a bunch of  presets to go through so this is like the sound of the 80s basically and the main thing back  th
en was the chorus okay so this is the Juno chorus that everybody saw after so you're going  to get a lot of synth Wave 80 sounds out of Kepler in my opinion now there's something called Kepler  EXO which gives you a lot more control a lot more visual stuff to work with and this is for Real  sound designers so they don't have presets yet so what I'll do is because you guys are so dope  and you watch this video I'm going to leave a bunch of Kepler EXO presets below I'm going to  make these tonight
and give you guys a bunch of presets just go to busyworksbeats.com go to  the free downloads and then look for the presets folder okay so in here this is basically  Kepler just times two and there's so much more control so again it's going to give you an  80s type sound just a simple Sawtooth right now but but we can use filtering and  and do a bunch of stuff here so I don't have time to really go through  everything about synthesis right now but okay and again the main thing  is that chorus he
re hopefully y'all could see this and my head's not  blocking it cuz I can't see my head so sometimes so I'll make you guys a ton of  presets tonight I'm just going to focus on this and making presets for you guys completely  free go to busyworksbeats.com look for the free downloads Tab and then look for the presets  folder there's tons more downloads for FL in there too but that's what I'll do for you guys  for watching this video so that's Kepler EXO um the next update is called spreader so th
is is  really good because spreader with a lot of like FL Studio stuff if I drag something in let's drag in  this guitar which we've added to our sounds vault at busyworksbeats.com sounds this one's by 7tg  so this is a mono guitar actually it might have some stereo on it but let's open up like the old  ways of widening stuff so firstly it was stereo enhancer still goated it gives you that Dr Dre  widened effect so don't sleep on this one it gives you the Dr Dre Vibe cuz the sound Fades from you
r  left ear to the right ear creates a really dope sound okay but also there was  an update or excuse me an added plug-in called fruity stereo shaper this gives you a little bit more clean of a Widener so  if you right click and go to stereo eyes so it gives you a little more flexibility I  still don't understand this Matrix here but it messes with timing and and a bunch of things  now they've just made it into one simple plugin and this was one of the weaknesses for  FL so I'm glad they focused
on this and they're listening to the community because we  just needed a simple Widener okay and here it is right here called spreader okay so now we  can widen the [Music] sound now I'm not sure if it needs to have a stereo signal going in  or not so that's something I'll have to test over time I'm not going to put a hard boil  definition on it yet but so far it's just widening out the [Music] sound now it looks like  they also have a bypass which is interesting so you can let's say you don't
want to widen the  lows you just want the highs widened that's actually pretty unique now we can take out some  of the mud on the sides and just have the highs widened so that's fire I like spreader so  there looks like two modes pree effects and post effects so I'm going to have to dig  into what these buttons do and what they mean um I'm not going to like focus on that  right now because I don't want to confuse you guys to death um nextly it says they have a core  progression tool now this is
one of my favorite tools I can't believe so what I love shout out  to everybody who ever created a script for the panel roll in this forums so I think what they're  doing at image line is seeing who you know which scripts we really are downloading and the ones  that get the most attention and hopefully they adopt those scripts into the program the final FL  Studio because a lot of users were creating piano chord progression tools let me show you guys some  stuff so if you don't know in the updat
ed versions of FL I think it's 21.2 you can go to tools now  and download scripts from their image line forums if you don't know how to do that you can go to  image- line.com go to I believe where is it at help and then go to where it says forum and in the  Forum you have different topics and in there you could find the scripts topic and then you would  find the top scripts it's a little tedious but basically what they've done is they've it seems  like they've taken some of the best scripts and
like remodified them to put them in the program  so one script I used to use was called chord progression tool version 1.1 and this was by uh  I forget who made this hopefully they left it in the notes okay this is by Pierre Sosa okay shout  out to Pi Sosa so basically you could put like let's say you want to do a 251 chord progression  you could say in the key of B major and you want to do a two five 1 chord progression so the  first chord is a two second chord is a five third chord is a one hi
t accept and it writes  a chord for you chord progression for [Music] you and then there's other scripts where you  could take that and then quickly make Melodies out of it so there's one called I want to say  Melody Jam I always mix these up so Melody Jam I forget which one so this has an error gave me  an err that usually doesn't give me an error this probably is because we're on beta um but there  was like randomize Melody here was another one so you could hit randomize Melody and generate  d
ifferent melodic structures now I don't not going to use it on this but there was different  scripts to create Melodies From Scratch is what I'm trying to say I don't want to complicate it  uh but now they've embedded a chord progression tool directly inside of the piano roll so now  I don't need third party scripts to make that happen so let's go to tools and now there's a new  Option embedded in in the menu called generate chord progression so with this it now gives me  an easier window to wor
k with when it comes to writing chords so I still haven't gone through  everything here but let's generate and we're going to be doing more videos on this so you can  preview the actual progression whereas the other program you had to like hit accept and then hear  it hit accept and then hear it now you can just preview it straight and they give you a slider  for conventional and adventurous interesting so let's generate so it seems like they've embedded  some kind of AI like logic in here to wh
ere it's it's using logic to figure out what kind of chords  to give you based on a slider so hopefully they're using AI behind the scenes to do a lot of this  stuff because then FL will be unstoppable it will be unstoppable now this is basically mirroring  um the abilities of scaler too so we're going to make way more videos on this because this is  going to be a huge huge huge advancement for the music production community in FL Studio so firstly  let's go to here where it says set chord inver
sion let's go to First inversion then you have second  inversion and then third inversion depending on how many notes okay so let's do first inversion  that didn't sound good let's do second I wonder if you could do octive switch chord Alternatives  so they even give you options so if you don't like that first chord which I don't I don't like this  adventurous mode it's a little too experimental so let's pull it back to Conventional and generate  regular chords now that's too conventional where
it's the same chord all the way through  okay so here's something pretty cool so we're preview that ending chord wasn't what I was  expecting so let's regenerate so this is literally just creating new chord progressions now I wish  there was a way to pull everything down an octave uh there probably is I just can't see it again  I don't read manuals just like everybody else and also you can lock the chord so let's say you  love the first chord you could lock that and then swap out these other cho
rds you could regenerate  the second chord if you don't like it oh that's hard o that's it right there we don't need to  do anything else but there's presets there's different uh like chord progression presets now  one thing that's was kind of weird in the major key like 251 is a major chord progression  like everybody uses it in gospel R&B so I'm very shocked it's not in here um unless it's at  the bottom somewhere I don't see a 251 so that is a little weird to me considering that's like  one o
f the most used core progressions in all of music production when it comes to hip-hop and R&B  hopefully they'll update this list but 251 should definitely be in here um not the nitpick I'm just  letting you guys know uh then the Rhythm okay and snap it looks like you could change the snap  to the grid we have manual you could type in a progression so I'm assuming this is based off  of uh like when you write in Roman numerals I'm not sure how that works but there were other  scripts where you co
uld type in the text and it would create a chord progression for you so it  looks like they've adapted that adopted that into one main thing as opposed to multiple scripts here  we have a generate and it looks like you can wow there's wow we got to try this okay there's so  much in here so much to say okay I didn't expect the video to be this long about this one feature  so here's the core progression they gave [Music] us oh freak FL just got dangerous y'all you  want to see another script if yo
u go to tools hopefully they do this straight into their  piano roll cuz Ableton 12 has this in their piano roll built in there's a script called  humanize now the only thing I hope image line if you're watching this please when we humanize  if you do add that please add the function where the notes don't overlap that's all we're asking  for cuz if the notes overlap it won't trigger a note and it becomes very frustrating to go in  and manually chop every single overlapping note just for the chor
ds to play I know it's minute  minute but that would be a huge tool if the human eyes was directly in the piano roll maybe a  slider as to how much humanization and then also um a way where the notes won't overlap  so basically add a human timing to all the notes then you can hit alt X and just  pull everything down if you want it softer you know how Ableton Live 12 has that like  fader that'd be dope if we could use this but also in a fade motion because let's say we want a  section that's a li
ttle bit softer but we want it to build up over time it'd be cool to like copy  and paste all these midi notes and and just have the whole thing relatively fade keeping all our  original velocity Rel like distance but then fade like this but with all the velocities where they  were if that makes sense that'd be dope so I know that's a minute detail but something an idea um  and then so let's I'm just shocked at this chord Creator and then you can hit shift up and down  to change the key that fir
st chord could be a dope next chord like uhoh my screen's glitching  what happened there all right I don't know what happened there I think it's cuz we're in beta  probably where did those notes just go they disappeared hold on okay I see the note appear  but I don't see it I'm not going to mess with that but again not the nitpick but that was a  little strange um so anyway let's go to a new pattern and let's go to tools generate chord  progression this time let's generate generate generate I li
ke B diminish let's okay here's  what I wanted to do let's go to where it says generate hopefully my head wasn't in the way  the first time click on where it says generate and let's use what's called a temperature so  I don't know what that means but temperature and then dionic notes increase to encourage  chords and extension notes which use more in scale notes okay so let's turn that up and  want to make this more R&B style now you can go between genres let's say Jazz and R&B let's  say you wa
nt to combine those we could pull that to the middle and I assume it's going to pull  chords from these types of genres hopefully so this is the tool we were all waiting for uh  substitute or add replace basic chord notes with Alternatives so these Max notes two  average number of extensions per chord two okay so I'm not going to mess with that now  how do we apply that though do we generate see this doesn't feel very Jazzy I don't know if  I'm doing the right thing let's try it again so I'm not
hearing these chord extensions where  they at all right this is a little confusing to be honest with you guys position depth I don't  know what that means chord repeats let's just hit accept H it didn't do what I thought it was going  to do so let's try it one more time it could be my ignorance but let's okay count the number of  chords great uh bar length snap to zoom to fit all chords okay maybe it's under presets so maybe in  order to activate that we have to use one of their presets let's a
ssume okay let's generate dionic  R&B and Jazz okay and then how do you and then generate I don't know that's a little hard  to use I'm not understanding what [Music] like let's break this down okay so right now let's  use chord codes to break all this down just so we understand what's going on so we have a which is  a minor and then we have B let's unlink these so normally if we were to voice this it would look  something like this so it be AC c e GB like that so this is a minor chord AC is a m
inor chord and  the B on top would be an added nine so that' be the first third fifth seventh and then the ninth  so it's an add nine chord so it looks like they're just adding melodic notes they're not actually  creating ninth chords so that feature is a little quirky um I would hope that at some point they'll  make it a little bit easier to uh basically like make ninth chords because right now doesn't make  sense substitute add replace basic cord notes with altern alterations or add them them
as extra notes  let's try maybe that's the [Music] switch but yeah this feature here is not making [Music] sense  that was hard again maybe it's cuz we're not using a yeah so I'm giving you guys a real deal this  part is like where it's kind of not making any sense at the bottom so I'm not understanding  that part as a user maybe somebody else will have a more detailed tutorial this isn't  that video I just want to react to these updates and let's keep checking so again that  was kind of lacklus
ter as far as my reaction to that but again great tool I'm glad it's  in embedded into FL Studio it says it also allows people to choose additions to test in  trial mode that's cool so I guess you get to mess with the different plugins playlist choose  action when sample is dropped as an instrument tracks let's see what that even means so first  if you right click go to track mode make this an instrument track let's load up Kepler so  if you go to your channel rack this will basically like lock
this to a mixer channel  so that it doesn't move now you can move this to a different mixer Channel but it makes sure  that it moves whatever else is in the way out of the way so it has a dedicated instrument  channel in the mixer so nothing can overlap it so existing stuff gets moved out the way so  that is an interesting concept now when I tried to uh drag audio into this area like right here  it gives me a thing it says instrument tracks are not for audio clips would you like to place  the cl
ip on a new empty playlist track so it kind of avoids anything from overlapping into  the mixer basically it kind of locks it to the mixer that's what I understand from that um  nextly is the plug-in picker improve search shows items with any of the letters typed so  what that means is if you go into your channel rack right click on this plus icon and let's  say you want to pull up Nexus so you hit n and then you hit X but you're spelling Nexus wrong  so in this case it did not do what I thought
it was going to do so if you type in NE e any  plugin that has n or e in it it looks like in sequence it pulls up that plugin so for example  NE was in box Continental sign player it was in the invoice plugin the Fab filter so it pulls up  any plugin that has n and E next to it and then you there we go I typed in Nexus you guys might  be a not be able to see it then you right click and I can open it up as a plugin like this okay  so Nexus does not come withl by the way okay so plug-in picker I
don't really use plug-in picker  so that's kind of whatevs but the macros are cool because this is what the kids are doing now  so I just showed you guys in the last couple videos about how these kids are now making like  underground hip hop so let me see if I can find a loop I can't think of Loops right let's use  an AI Loop because I don't have time to think let's pull some random loop from the uh where  is this from the output arcade or co-producer so let's drag this in it's at 79 BPM all rig
ht  so let's lock this down at 79 so let me show you what I used to do and show you guys how the  new school kids are doing it so what they'll do is they'll set the BPM like this and then they'll  double click go to mode stretch mode and then go back to resample mode so now when I change the  tempo it will change the pitch of the sample okay now if I turn the tempo up that's how  you get that pink pantheris xavius OB base type sound so now what I'm going to show you  is let's say you have multip
le Loops in here and you want to do that technique but there's so  many Loops it would just be tedious so what I'm going to do is take this back to 79 BPM okay  lock these to the grid where they should be and let's say you have something like this with  multiple audio clips okay what we can do is now go to tools macros and then switch all audio  clips and we can switch the type so let's go resample hit okay do that go to tools macro switch  all audio clips to stretch mode hit okay and then switc
h it back to uh resample mode so now all  these if I double click it should say resample and then the time knob should be stretched out  that's important because if you want this effect this time knob has to be stretched out so that's  a quick way to do it if you have multiple audio tracks and you want to do that technique so now  if [Music] I up the BPM you can hear [Music] the and you can also automate tempos so if  you right click create an automation clip this is how kids are doing it now yo
u can  rightclick copy your initial value paste that value and just create a little tape  start effect by just dragging that like that now that's a very long stretch so  usually I would do this by like the half beat or something I wouldn't do it that  [Music] long and that's how you do like the tape start and then you could do a  tape stop the opposite way so let's say you wanted to end something over here you would  create the opposite just kind of Fade Out like this and it actually affects the
[Applause] audio so you can do now really  quick Tempo stuff very [Music] quickly now if you want to get rid of this we need to  to delete any automations see how it keeps resetting we need to go to the browser this  is like a tutorial basically at this point go to the browser we're going to close this go  to current project go to initialize controls make sure you delete the tempo or else it's  going to stay in there okay now we can up the tempo that works for all the audio so that's  a new tec
hnique that I've seen the kids use so that's very important that they added this  feature it's minute but it definitely saves a lot of time uh tools show if they're pressed when  hovered midi out added note off value selector for note controls so for those who use like hardboard  controllers and you program midi inside of FL like if you're making a Melody inside of the piano roll  you could send that Melody to your hardboard your Hardware keyboard and then have the keyboard play  the sounds and
then you record the sounds into FL I don't have my keyboards plugged up right now  so I'll have to show you on a plugin how that would all work so let's open up midi out which  is the tool we use for our Hardware syn okay let's open up a new one let's do midi out and  I want to program this to control my keyscape for example if keyscape were a piano that it's  a hardware piece so in keyscape we need to go to the settings and then I need to have my midi  input at the same number as my midi output
of this so Port zero needs to match the input Port  so that they can talk to each other so now when I play the midi out it's going to play keyscape  okay so now I can program you know the external hardware using a midi out controller and a midi  interface and that goes into the keyboard back end a lot of keyboards have midi inputs into them  and then it receives information from the computer to play certain notes and then it sends the audio  out of the keyboard and then you can capture it insid
e of FL so that's how I've been making a lot  of my plugins for example I would sound design on my hardware and then have the computer trigger it  and then it samples it into FL okay so what we're going to do is uh here to figure it out basically  there's these settings here so you can have these settings and switch the controller type to note  values and then the controller number these are a range of velocities so it says note range 0  to 127 these are velocities that's the velocity number if
you hit the hardest it's 127 if you hit  the softest it's zero or or one in that case so velocity has 127 steps okay and then you can have  that be the note off value send note off when this value is set so you can have a certain velocity  uh or controlling number where it turns off the sound and that would be important if you have like  layered sounds or something like that or you don't you have like really complex layering going on  would anybody use that on a daily today basis not necessarily
that's more for sound designers  and more advanced users uh who need it for sound design also this is really interesting the new  info panel in the top left doesn't have your name anymore when you log in I Chang mine because  this is a project file but if I were to make a new project it's going to say a number I'm going to  load up a new project real quick as you can see it says AE it says beta aej 4967 so I guess that's  part of my license and to me this represents them trying to like not have
people have team r2r  because I think they realized the people who were cracking their software just getting free  promotion every time somebody was doing a video with FL and then they had the Pirates name in  the top left it was like free promotion for the pirate it would say like team r2r or team air or  team whatever and I guess they got tired of that so they added the license number for some reason  and it could also be the opposite maybe they want to track people down and they're like okay
which  license number is this under so who knows now they say it's on the site for username replaced by  license number for privacy reasons I don't know about privacy reasons I think it's more for what  I just said reasons so we will see how that works out all right guys that is the video I'm going  to make you guys a ton of Kepler XO presets um for free so again when I post this I'm going to  leave a link below just go to busyworksbeats.com go to the top where it says free downloads and  then
in the folder look for where it says presets and then I'll have these within 24 hours for  you guys I'm going to just sit here and sound design for the next 20 hour streight all right  guys peace out subsscribe if you're new peace

@FLB2019

I love th new bass boost plug in for the 808. Also love the stereo enhancer. thanks for making content we can utilize.

@ang2k77

1 Tip from me :If you open patcher and utilize mid side eq,you can connect spreader with sides only and process the track in terms of stereo widening.

@COSMLOOP

Busy works beats!!!🔥🔥👏🏾

@tenchudjmusic

it's not machine learning that is used, to algorithmically generate chords by a ruleset in this example but for sure it's the next step - to use trained neural networks for any kind of note or parameter generation
