[Music] foreign hey there Julia here welcome back to another video if this is your first Julia video Welcome I do journaling videos here some stationery stuff some travel stuff if you want to hang out and get inspired for your own journaling Journey consider subscribing to the channel so we can be Pals today I'm flipping through my travel Journal I'll explain how I've been using it for the past couple of years and what I'm doing differently going forward so in this journal the one we're flipping
through today I've documented some of the larger International trips that we've taken after the trip so after we get back I use photos and ephemera and I write a little bit about the trip this particular Journal is from artron Olive it's an A5 craft journal and this is actually from one of their subscription boxes so it's not readily available but you can always sees the code Royal 10 over an Archer and Olive to save 10 percent off and support the channel at no additional cost but yeah let's ge
t into the slip through all right so this is the journal that we're flipping through today it has a vegan leather cover a couple of bookmarks gotta get it out of here yeah a couple of these bookmarks which I don't use at all and it has 160 GSM blank craft paper the three major trips in this journal are from 2021 and 2022 there isn't a lot of specific itinerary information in here but if you're curious about anything I do have a few travel Vlogs linked down below for you or you can hit me up in t
he comments if you have questions about anything but before I show you what's going on in here I'll show you how I documented my first big trip like this in 2019 and I did that in my 2019 bullet journal and I'm just going to show you this so you can see how things have changed and how I'm continually trying to figure out how exactly I want to document these trips foreign [Music] happened in August 2019 and what I did I just printed out my digital itinerary that I made and I just printed out each
day and added photos from each day in my bullet Journal I made all of these Pages kind of marked with washi tape so whenever I close the journal I can get to them pretty quickly if I ever want to go back and look at any of the photos or any of the places we went to so each day had a theme and little Pro tips and I just highlighted anything that we actually did like sometimes I over plan shocker but this is the full itinerary that we took with this and I just wanted to see what was planned versu
s what we actually did so each day has just the photos to go along with the itinerary [Music] foreign foreign [Music] and then at the back of these pages I just pasted in an envelope that I made on my Cricut with a photo of like a plain shot and then just different tickets and ephemera and business cards and just a bunch of stuff that you know Metro tickets that we got along the trip so and that's pretty much it I'm pretty sure there's another page and then yeah another spread of just photos and
the washi tape that I got while in France because who doesn't want to document the stationary that they get while traveling so yeah this was my first time kind of documenting a trip and I just did it right there in my bullet Journal because I was going for an all-in-one type of Journal at the time so changing things up and getting into this one the first trip in here is to Belize and I got really extra here and used a photo that I took while on the trip and decided to do a gouache painting of i
t and this was very time intensive but I really really loved how this came out and it's just like kind of a stunning way to start a trip documentation if you will and so in this new way of kind of figuring out how I wanted to document the trip I just have the city here San Ignacio what days we were there some photos here and then just a little reflection on what we did how I felt about it and then this is the we went from San Ignacio over to keycocker which is an island in Belize and so I also d
id just you know little Doodles here and there mixed with some stickers these stickers are from planting with K and yeah just some photos here and mixed with some journaling their Island motto was go slow so that's why I have that here and then I just have like a little map that I printed out some of their signature drinks so Billiken was the Belizean beer and rum punch was everywhere I also printed a tiny little version of the itinerary that I made for this trip and then there is a vlog for thi
s one and I just printed out the thumbnail for the Vlog and put it there this little guy was on our Resort door and so I drew that after the fact I had a picture of it and Drew it in here and then I have some ephemera this is our favorite little coffee place ice and beans I'm keeping this because we might go back and I want my free coffee eventually just a few tickets and you know [Music] this type of stuff to hang on to okay the next trip was to Poland and Hungary and this is just the Poland se
ction I took my March bullet Journal cover page photoshopped out the march here and just did Poland instead because I thought that this was still really representative of the time there and it was some original artwork and yeah flipping over I actually really love this spread this is just for the city of Krakow I have just some photos here and some call outs you know from Auschwitz we went to ostrich and this place right here was a scene of Schindler's List and I love my pierogi of course and ye
ah on this page I have some more reflection about krakov and what we did there I also have some Polish money then I have some receipts in here tickets and I really like this like backdrop image flipping over the next city in Poland was zakopane and again I just have some reflection here since it was obviously really cold really snowy but you know there was something magical about that and it made the soups and I love soups but it made the Polish soups even better because it was so cold outside a
nd so cozy inside I actually really love this page too so the big photos like the big photos get me every time and I just love this one we did just take backpacks so I'm just walking along in my backpack and this is a business card or one of the restaurants we went to and I just loved this like Vibe perfect and then in here let's see we did we did our laundry which was an adventure in zakopane but I just kept this little bifold that they had in there probably the best laundry mat ever so that wa
s really fun I also have the ski lift card ticket thing in here as well which we don't want to talk about that I got kicked off the mountain because I don't know what I'm doing I try to snowboard y'all and I'm not good at it okay moving on to Warsaw this is where we spent Christmas and well Christmas Eve and Christmas so I just have some photos here this is what we purchased for our Christmas Eve dinner inside because things shut down for Christmas Eve and so we decided to make dinner at our Air
bnb and so I have the receipt for that and here and a photo of it all right the next stop was two good dance Poland which is super I think Coastal North yes North up here and so here I have just some Reflections some photos I use this kind of film washi tape here and again I really loved like my favorite photos I made it kind of a backdrop to what I wanted to highlight I guess like my friend Claudia met us there if you have seen the travel Vlogs you know she pops up from time to time and I'm ver
y lucky to have her in my life and I love that she pops up on our Europe trips and yeah she took us out to this amazing restaurant in dunsk and spent some time with us there we did go to a Christmas Market in Gdansk as well and did some wandering around and these are just some photos from that and then we went on to Hungary and so this is just the kind of cover page for that country and you know I have the dates that we were there and I did a quick little drawing of if I remember correctly basti
an's Point Fisherman's point something like that I should write and I will figure it out and I'll probably write it really small here so that I know what this is supposed to be okay and so here I just have a reflection for Budapest this is actually a postcard that I got at one of their Christmas markets and I just did a little outline some sparkles and did this lettering here this I'm trying to remember what this is from I cannot remember but I do believe it's like a bookmark or something from a
museum gift shop something like that and I just use that over here and I do love how this is laid out so I didn't do a full-on reflection on this page because we know this one's pretty long but I just have a bullet list of the activities we did some of the standout foods and then another postcard that I kind of cut out the architecture and the illustration here for this and then used the leftover part of the postcard to do this lettering thing along with some photos so there's another one I hav
e the Budapest card City Pass glued in along with some photos and boarding passes this is the ticket to the Hungarian National Gallery so that's probably where I got this thing from as well but yeah this is actually just a craft envelope I love just cutting envelopes in half either vertically or horizontally and using that to stick little pieces like this in and you can custom fit it to whatever size notebook that you're using flipping over to Portugal so we went to Portugal the summer of 2022 I
actually did not have a cover page for this for the longest it was just blank and what is this from I got some stickers I think maybe this sticker set even I got some stickers and this was the back card for the stickers for that packaging and I was like perfect I'm going to use this for the Portugal cover page and I love it it has like this vintage Vibe it's just yeah Easy Choice there flipping over the first place we went to in Portugal was Porto and so I have some Portuguese here some quick P
ortuguese this is the Metro card if I remember correctly I have some reflection here along with pieces cut out from receipts from this beautiful Library which you'll see more of in here but photos and yeah I love how this spread turned out flipping over here we went to this wine festival so I kept the our kind of digital wallet that we would go through this is from a bag from a stationery store that we went to in Porto also their business card I have a little blurb on the different food that we
tried I'm sure that goat cheese and honey Pizza did not originate in Porto but it's where I tried it first and goat cheese and honey is my favorite pizza right now like you is so good if you haven't tried it please do yourself a favor hey on this next page this is from a museum and park that we went to in Porto again I do have a vlog for Portugal so if you're curious about any of this stuff and you want to see it kind of In Motion definitely check those out but for this I saved the museum guide
as well as the map and I did a quick little blurb about it here same thing and then added the boarding pass here we also did a Duro Valley tour and have photos and a reflection here as well and this was really fun I did some simple Doodles and outlines on top of photos and that added a really neat effect with minimal effort Elaine breath which I loved coinbro was so chill it had a Bamboo Garden we met up with ETS pets definitely a good time then I have several Lisbon Pages here so different acti
vities we did a general blurb here we also did a fun photo shoot in Lisbon as well I glued in the Metro pass here and then I did more Portuguese along with some photos and then I also got engaged in Lisbon so actually in kashkaish but right outside of Lisbon so I have a little blurb about that a photo of that day yeah [Music] and then just some other Portugal ephemera so a train ticket here we did a design thinking Workshop in Lisbon so we have our business card from their business card for a wi
ne also luggage tag we went to see the smile which if you like Radiohead it's kind of a side thing so the smile we saw them in Lisbon as well this is that really pretty book shop that I was talking about earlier this is a postcard from there so I wanted to put that in here and then we went to Centra so this is my super dramatic page for Sentra I just blew up this photo and printed it out on sticker paper and just plopped it in added an outline and a title I had this Red Envelope which I thought
was perfect and I just have a little blurb in here about how much I loved sintra and this anemia Castle and then flipping over to the Spain spread so for this I kept the title really simple on this side I have a photo that I printed under this you know I'm sure you can see it and then on top of that I just printed all the cities we went to on some Vellum printable Vellum and stuck that right on top and I think that just has a really nice Spanish effect so first city we went to was Sevilla and so
I have just some photos here some pet tape stickers along with more reflection and a bookmark we also visited the city of Cadiz for a day and then these are all just kind of like small day trips that we took out of Sevilla and then we made our way to Ronda which was my favorite city of the trip and so I had to just like spill my guts here and talk about how much I loved Rhonda along with some photos and stickers we have another spread for Rhonda here and then the last stop for this trip was Mal
aga and so again I have a general blurb about what we did there and some photos we went to the Picasso Museum and so I grabbed a postcard from there and this one's all kind of freaky kind of 3D looking and then just have a photo there we did camenito Del Rey which is a super High aerial path um it says it's suspended 100 meters against the wall of a Gorge and so that was really fun I actually really loved this page for this so try to keep it really simple just a few photos and keeping it pretty
General on the reflection here me and Claudia did a fun little selfie photo shoot Gallery situation and so this is just me talking about that and how much I value our friendship and then the rest of these pages are just like extra ephemera I honestly grabbed way too much for this last trip and but I still wanted to use it so I have you know the bookmarks and more boarding passes and this huge this folds out a lot I don't even know if it we'll all get in the shot but yeah all that's stuck in the
journal but I just tipped it in like that and it's in there some other postcards I just love these and I just had to do something with them so I just stuck them in the back foreign even more of them [Music] the ones on the bottom are I guess not in this case but this one is like glued down and this one's just tipped in on top of it more see I grabbed way too many we did send some to people but I also just loved the artwork on so many postcards and I knew that I wanted to journal about it but I d
idn't know what I wanted to use and I figured lesses or not less is more the opposite of that more is better so that's why there's so many postcards and then these are the Poland yes Polish Airlines boarding passes the bull ring in Ronda I just started tipping a bunch of stuff in so we've lost all Rhyme or Reason as far as chronological order and then that's it so I'm just gonna leave the rest of this empty it's totally fine if I have extra ephemera from any other trips and I don't want to put t
hem in trip specific spreads I think I'll just come back here and tip them in or paste them in here here's some more stickers from that smile show a couple of more photos from Spain and then yeah just some other stuff and we had to do a covet test in Hungary so I just have the covet test results back there but yeah that is the travel Journal okay so why am I changing it up now why am I leaving this travel Journal incomplete I do have my reasons and one of the biggest reasons is that it's been ha
rd keeping up with the spreads after we get back from a trip like it's already hard enough to get back on the work routine get back on the life routine but worrying about the travel spreads like trying to get them done before I just totally lose everything I want to say about everything has been a little stressful and with that being said the A5 size of this thing taking it around is pretty bulky pretty intimidating especially since I like to pack pretty minimalists so with those things in mind
I want to try to do a little bit of journaling while traveling so sketching in parks and writing at little cafe shops that sort of thing so I don't expect to finish all of a trips travel spreads like on the trip but I think any progress is valid my memory will be fresher and it's less I have to do when I get back so for the next trip over to Europe I am taking one of these these travel journals I don't know if I'm going to take the passport size yet or the regular size Travelers journal from Tra
velers company but I've probably watched way too many videos of people's setups and spreads and just everything imaginable with these types of journals I've also been carrying around this hanoki is that you say that yes a hanuki traveler's journal from notebook therapy for the last couple of months just like in my purse trying to Envision how I could fit something like this into a more efficient minimal system especially while traveling So the plan is to take you guys with me over there and I'm
gonna try out travel journaling while traveling for the first time so don't forget to subscribe and turn on notifications so we can go to Copenhagen and Hamburg in Amsterdam together it should be a good time thank you guys so much for watching and I'll catch you all in the next one [Music] foreign

Beautiful travel journal

@misscarmen491

Dear Julia, Thank you for sharing this beautiful journal. Very inspiring as I have just started the journey of travel journaling. I’ve like how you include pictures and the envelope at the back for ticket stubs the like. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos and content. Best to you from the SF Bay Area, California

@DoYouSalut

It's been so much fun watching your travel journal spreads. I use a Traveler Sized notebook for my travel journal. I have one journal for my travels with Tony and then another for my solo travels. I like the idea you had to put the sample itinerary in the journal. I liked seeing how you used the postcards too. Thanks for all the inspiration!!!!!!

@candaceestrada5744

Wow! You’ve traveled so much!! That’s amazing!! I really like your style of art. How you mix in pictures, memorabilia and your art! Very cool.

@Kindlelover88

Holy moly, you’re impressive. My husband and I are in our 50s and we’re really trying to travel so much as we can before we retire because it gets harder as you get older and it’s more expensive and I’m so excited that you guys are starting young. I also have been trying to figure out how to document my trips as we just got back from Iceland from a two week trip. I have journals and I have planners that I keep up-to-date but like you it’s easier to travel with something small I know you said you have a blog, but will you ever be creating a YouTube video to show your travels thank you so much for the inspiration and all the insight. It’s super helpful. I appreciate you.

@michelalvarez637

Exciting! Back planning is soooo hard, I gave up on it myself 😅 hope this will work better this time around. Also you can hire me as your camera women 😁😁

Such a nice journal. I am in the learning process. Could you please tell me where did you get your journal and the dimension? Thanks

@simonew.morton1008

Love your journal. Exactly which journal from Archer & Olive did you use? Thanks in advance!
