hola everybody my name is NittPicc and today I  am going to be listening and reacting to dirty loops and Corey Wong I got this video sent to  me by a friend of mine and I have never heard of dirty loops and I've also have never  heard of Cory Wong Let's Just Jump Right [Music] In [Music] okay hold on hold on hold on the Baseline  in this already is just coming in with like this really hardcore like Funkadelic style instead  of just like we hear that spooky kind of version that we hear in the ori
ginal Thriller I want to  go back like I've got to go back I've got to go [Music] back hey [Music] hey really great vocals under the moon this Dr be man but before  you make [Music] it you freeze as right between the eyes you're [Music]  paraly you the Beast night find for inside okay so what's really neat about  this is we're used to feeling Thriller and like a typical beat of thrill night just  because there's a change in the style of the drum beat just a little bit of the change  creates a di
fferent characteristic here you from [Music] the also as an instrumentalist  who plays like a woodwind instrument um I'm a flutist by the way I love the  incorporation of winds so like you know we've got our tenor sacks or Berry sacks got a  trombone and Two Trumpets got to love [Music] it love the [Music] interjections just imagination yeah yeah other you hear a creature  creeping up behind you're out of time I have to point it out look at his jacket the fact  that he's wearing like the Michael
Jackson style jacket is just a nice little detail also the  man's vocals it's really really neat to listen to his control it's cool when we're listening to  this kind of music and we get that interjections that we're used to hearing from the original  Michael Jackson song itself this version is just it's scrumptious man I wanted to go back a little  bit just cuz I want to hear those interjections again I love [Music] that the immaculate  double tonging I'm assuming it's double tonging if there'
s single tonging that that's  amazing so when you listen to that wind section interjection inside the melody what I'm  doing is I'm actually double tonging that so then instead of just saying tutu because  it would be hard so I'm actually going like to rotating the tongue between both front and  back end it's a technique that most musicians learn just so we can play faster that insane  like Baseline like come on the finger workor that that double [Music] Tong there's a moment it just doesn't fee
l like we're in the same  time signature it's like we've gone from this like we've gone from this 68 feel they took  it and went into like a duple feel for a second so it's cool cuz we're getting that two against  three so we're getting one LLY two LLY one LLY 2 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 it's so sick it's just the play on  Rhythm also it just like brings the listener back in yeah we're still feeling [Music]  it this is the end of your life so we had a different color change here it  is so beautiful how th
at just happens like the shift in time automatically brings the  listener back into what you're were listening to and it just it gives it a different bit of  little bit of a different feel just enough for you to understand that something's changing pop  music has this kind of structure Verse Chorus I believe it's called the bridge this is slightly  different right it's not the same as what we've heard before and we're about to jump back in  to the chorus right so let's let's keep [Music] going b
ack to that 68 [Music] feel the horn interjections are awesome giving that hair woo yeah yeah  yeah the night I save you from the on the screen I don't know if it's because maybe  I was just so caught up by like the other stuff that was happening I felt like  I heard a different buildup to this [Music] section I feel like that's new never CU i  f more than any [Music] could let [Music] tight okay that was cool again same thing we're  feeling that four that duple against the [Music] six [Music] t
his this is amazing so far so good  like sicking good drummers like keeping the beat and manipulating time just by changing the feel  and the basis and the Guitar let's keep going oh no no no okay stop we got to go back we  got to go back cuz the group she's completely [Music] changed [Music] oh okay  now it feels yeah [Music] son okay hold up let's talk about this what am  I looking at what is [Music] this [Music] FL oh we got a flugal horn clarinet what is that I've never seen  that that befor
e brass players tell me what is this I obviously it looks like  some kind of euphonium it's like a double horn euphonium so how does that work  leave it down in the comments I wonder if it's just more projection I highly  doubt it plays multif [Music] phonics [Music] woo okay [Music] it's okay [Music] [Applause] [Music] I don't know what's going to  happen as I go wait wait wait we got to we got to unfold what was just  happening there okay we got to unfold it [Music] [Music] woo we've got a lot
of modal shifting in here we're playing with a lot of little bit of minor seconds in there  is that what I'm [Music] hearing and now we've hit like there's some there's some  minor seconds in here that make it sound a little crunchy also there was something that  really that was really cool that happened in the drums right there the just a little  bit of a taste of just a little bit of play on the high hat or the the symbol  the ride symbol right there that's so [Music] sick and now they're jus
t  playing they're just having fun like they're just playing around right [Music] here that's some oh the breath [Applause] support dude the breath support it took to just  hold that note that long I would have died maybe man okay dirty Loops dirty Loops in Cory Wong  wow I've never heard of dirty Loops before in Cory Wong but now that I've heard of them I might  actually start listening to them cuz when like you hear the original recording of the song and it's  great and you love that version b
ut sometimes it's nice to listen to a cover especially if it's  something like this where they take it and they manipulate it and it turns it into something just  not the same as the authentic thing pop music has the same kind of chords like chord progressions  and yada y y you can alter how you approach the song so like this one feels like it's more in a  68 feel and then it does this half time feel and this movement between time like the play between  time signatures and feel just because the
drummer is changing something or the basis did something  different and the fact we've got a full-on win section in this recording there's just there's so  much happening it just constantly brings you back to wanting to listen listen to the newest thing  and like I guarantee you if I listen to this like 10 to 15 more times I will find something new  thank you for watching if you liked what you saw please feel free to leave a like and comment  and even subscribe to the channel if there's any musi
c out there that you'd liked me to listen to  and react to I am happy to take requests down in the comments let me know what you hear let me know  what you're thinking in the comments as well the cool part about this is that we can pick apart  music together let's create a conversation about music but anyway I will see you in the next video  and I hope you have a great week see you later

As a music major and horn player from many years ago, I LOVED your analysis! So 1) that's a double-bell euphonium (yep, it's a thing) and 2) what will blow your mind is that Dirty Loops was filmed and recorded in Sweden and Cory Wong and the horns were in Minnesota. Welcome as others will say "to the rabbit hole" that you just have to go down. You will love them!

@danielstromberg7260

Thanks for a great reaction and welcome to Dirty Loop’s world, a rabbit hole to explore. Hope you react to more DL, try Rock you/Hit me/work shit out😊

@tparmenter

Dirty Loops are musical titans, just top tier. The syncopated swing in this is just insanely good. I’m a sucker for horns so when the Double Bell Euphonium came in it was everything. Hope you keep going with them. Check out Follow the Light.

@MrSlimfinger

Every single song from Dirty Loops blows me away in one way or another. A supergroup, one of the greatest!

@IDigitalCrash

You have to watch their "Ring of Saturn" with a more flute parts))) Also, you can do react on every songs from them and never will be disappointed. Good luck!

@lar208

Cool reaction! Listen to Dirty Loops "Next To You" and "Work Shit Out" Regards: Lasse from Sweden

@joakimuvegard3911

Great reaction from a musician❤️

@lukasneuner4760

If you want more from this horn section, I'd recommend "Turbo" from the same project, or pretty much anything by cory wong to be honest (Cory Wong // "Olympia" for some awesome flute action plus groovy horns). His band is absolutely insane and very horn-forward :)

@AG-tk1qs

All of these are maestro performers each on various instruments and are musicians of the highest order. On anything they play, others would say its too technical, they say " hold my beer". Welcome to the Dirty loops rabbit hole. Once inside you never want to leave.

@fiddlestix3025

Hey NitPick ;) this was one fun reaction! Nice to see your mind blown by these bad dudes ☺️ Dirty Loops have been around for about 13 years, when they exploded the internet with their crazy covers of Lady Gaga, Brittney Spears, Justin Bieber etc. -songs. They are the three guys on the right, Jonah Nilsson on vocals/keys, Aron Mellergård on drums and Henrik Linder on bass. Three friends from Sweden who met early on in school and later went to study a range of courses at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Now known for their unique style of genre bending fusion, from classical to jazz, rock, pop, R&B, soul…you name it. All come from musical backgrounds. Take a deep dive into their Wikipedia page :) Most of all tho listen to their catalog, it’s mindbending stuff. I’m glad you enjoyed that wicked rendition of Thriller, and yeah, they seriously mess with the rhythmic feel (this one is mainly in 12/8 with a swung feel) as well as messing with the harmonic structure at times. Yeah, you pointed out the minor seconds, and I think too that there are a lot of chromatic progressions there… also substituting major for minor chords sometimes… They screw your head off and then back on again, all the time 🤣 Aron, their drummer, does a lot of their writing and arranging, even down to writing Henrik’s basslines sometimes. Cory Wong is an independent funk/rhythm guitarist from the US, one of the best, and has played with the best. His horns here are partially members of the famous Hornheads who toured and recorded with Prince, amongst many other greats. The guy on sax/flute, Kenni Holmen has a sick sax solo in their title track ‘Turbo’, as well as fantastic FLUTE solo in ‘Ring of Saturn’! You might want to check out those two tracks, as well as ‘Follow the Light’, all from the same album and collab. The horn arrangements are, mostly at least, written by Michael Nelson, here also on sax and the Double Belled Euphonium :) (famous back in the day for its ability to smuggle large quantities of grog onto stage, inside its bells, I heard ☺️) Grace Kelly with the blue hair is another stellar musician with her own YT site and projects. And those fast, tongued notes: is there such a thing as triple tonguing?? I’m clearly not a wind/brass player 😂 During the COVID years Cory contacted the Loops and suggested a collaboration. The result is this album, Turbo. Some of the tracks on it are more Dirty Loops-led and written, some more by him. This one here is a Loops idea, I believe. Because they couldn’t travel and meet in lesson, the whole writing and arranging of this album, was done over the phone and internet, on two separate continents. The Loops did their stuff in Sweden, Cory in the US. Yes, even the filming 😱 Both bands made sure they had agreed on the same carpet, lighting, camera angles, etc. Afterwards Aron, the drummer, edited all the footage together (he edits all of Dirty Loops’ videos.) Dirty Loops are on Quincy Jones management board, but they (and Cory in this case) produce all their music and videos themselves. Others have much better info, I’m sure, but this much so far. Hoping that you’ll go down the Dirty Loops (and Cory Wong) path, and that we’ll get to listen to more Dirty Loops with you. It was a super interesting analysis, I thought 👍 Next up could be “Turbo”, “Follow the Light” and “Ring of Saturn”, for that crazy flute solo 🔥💛🔥 Thanks 🙏

@dbcanada

Awesome reaction! I'm a keyboard player and former clarinetist, so I understand and appreciate all your 'nerdy' comments about rhythm, technique, harmony, and breath support. In a sea of music reactors who can say little more than "wow", it's refreshing to hear your intelligent and enthusiastic comments. I subscribed right away, and I look forward to more of your reactions. Thank you!

@philipshort7491

It's got to be the studio video fans favourite Work shit out, welcome to the world of dirty loops.

@tokskallez

@yozeymusic2463

The unfolding with the hands on min 10. I am dying. LMAO. I love Dirty Loops I am going to see them in LA this year but I got to say I equally love this reaction video. No only the technical side of it but you are seriously hilarious. I feel like I am living the song and my reactions thru yours.

@hustonproductions4611

The horns and Cory were recorded separately, Dirty Loops were then spliced together. Pretty cool!!!

@hectorrios4107

You need to hear EVERYTHING FROM THEM Everything is really GOOD!!!!!

@DanSpomer

Welcome to Dirty Loops. Great analysis- these guys will blow you away. You MUST react to “Rings of Saturn” off the same album. As a flautist, you will be floored. Also, as a music nerd, I’m officially in love with you. 😉

@allanasp771

Must be thrilling (pun intended😊) for Quncy Jones to be part of this some 40 odd years after the release of the original. Great reaction BTW.

@petertoal371

Welcome to the rabbit hole for Dirty Loops. There's so much that appeals to so many genres of music, Jazz, Funk rock, these guys can do it all. Classically trained with a flair for the impossible. Cory Wong is also a genius in his own right so the collaboration was a stroke of genius. Great decision by whoever made it. Thanks for your reaction "flute teacher" 🎷 (sorry, couldn't find a flute imoji)
