We are going to visit the largest university in Honduras, UNAH, Tegucigalpa. Ricardo, where are we? We are in the sports palace, the faculty of physical education. We are entering this great stadium. An Olympic track. Those people we look at, who are they? Students in athletics class. And there are some university teams that compete against other universities. Well yes, there is a team that represents the university. And the track is also open to the public. To support our, our community. Cost t
o use the facility? It costs two hundred lempiras per month for the external public, for the university community, completely free. You are the coach here. We don't have coaching right now. Oh really? We are part of everyone's team. The university athletics team. Yes. How is what we are doing right now. First we do about twenty meters, then we do heel buttock. And then kick forward. Basically a warm up this one. Heating. My God. Well, let's do a repeat. To be. So it goes, yes it goes. Fast. Than
k you so much. How interesting that they train at a time like nine forty. I think it is because of their air conditioning also in the competition. They usually compete at this time. Which are quite heavy hours. Teacher, how many laps are you going to do today? Uh, I give every day, a good amount back. How much, hold on, teacher, how much, hold on. The university facilities are very large. So, you have to walk. Just walking. We have a cleaning company that ensures that all sports facilities are i
n optimal conditions, clean and ready for our students. Welcome. Thanks thanks. The boys in athletics class. Yes, they are strong. We are looking at what relays are. He's going to give a demonstration. The boy comes . Here it comes, here comes the relief. Ah, ah. How did it seem to you, teacher? He needs to develop a little more speed. What we are doing is trying to shoot some shots. Yes. Aha, exactly. Excellent work. Your name? The students here at the university who want to get in shape, what
do they do? Lately we have had the opportunity for this athletics field to be opened to us, allowing us to come from five in the morning until nine at night. Thank you so much. Ready. Ricardo among the university students of the UNAD of San Pedro and Tegus. Which ones are in better shape to believe? For the competitions more than anything, they draw from both centers. There are even regional centers in Santa Rosa de Copán and Comayagua. Ricardo Where are we now? Well now we are at the main entra
nce of the Sports Palace. And Ricardo, what is your favorite sport? I am currently with the table tennis team. Ah, really? Yes. Let's give a challenge then. Eh I don't know. We play there . AHA. Below we look at a ticket office. Those are for some events. No, what is there more than anything is administration, both in security, cleanliness, and infrastructure. There is the Boay clinic, which is a clinic for athletes, who have an injury, or are in poor health. Tell us, what classes are you taking
here right now? Here we are on the taekwondo team too. What time do they train taekwondo? Right now. Who throws the angriest kicks here? What sport were you going to play right now? Basketball. Ah, really? Excellent, class or team? Class and also studying the equipment. Lucky friend. Ball, tell us, what activity were you participating in right now? I was in taekwondo class. It seems that there are many students in taekwondo, anyone else in taekwondo? Here everyone is. How many students practice
taekwondo here at Una? Quite a few. The best here. The heaviest. The heaviest, right? They say it, but that's it. Luck luck. The teacher says she wants us to go down there and see. And it's big. Yes, I think it's futsal. And there's volleyball. Let's look at the volleyball classes a little here. And on this side, basketball. Each class has its own different teacher. It is his teacher who is a specialist in sports. As we can see here the lawyer. Apart from that, he is the coach of the university
team here. We met some students who were practicing, let's see how we do it. How long have you been training volleyball? Oh like four weeks. What is the goal with your volleyball. Learn to play well. Luck. Your name? Kiana. Not anymore. We're either going to start here or I'm done. I wear basketball in the morning. There are other fields further up the university here. There is more. Yes there are more courts. And at what time do the fillies assemble there among the students? Well, I usually th
ink they are in the morning because. Seriously in the morning. With that sun I don't think these people would like burning so much. And basketball too. There are fillies. When there are free fields, yes. Because here they only let in people who come to classes to take care of the equipment and everything. Here we have table tennis class two. I see that they have a good level, how long do you think they have trained already? It makes me sad that you have been training for about six months , becau
se you are an athlete for the national team, also for the national team. He has recently been competing in France, and has been training there. Tell us about these young people, very good there. They are both students and also athletes. Wow. And the rest that are there. They are also students of the degree and some also get involved with table tennis. In other words, everyone is, everyone has a level. Yes, there. Rony, do you want to play a little bit with now. To make it even we are going to pl
ay two against one. Maybe playing two against one we beat him then. It's going to help me , one more, one more. This is the tiebreaker. That incredible girl, the level, the participants here, is it for a hobby or does she have aspirations like that? The truth is that since it is one, it is a class that we all have to take. I started to like it, that was when I decided to take level two and if God allows me, then also take level three of tennis. Excellent. Thank you so much. Rony, we who come fro
m Progreso and La Ceiba. This is too different, like they were in another country now. I didn't even know this infrastructure existed, to be honest. I'm surprised, but I love it. Manuel, what class are you in right now? Is it recreation or do you have aspirations to compete? No, it's an aspiration more than anything. Ariel, and what class are you wearing right now? Right now I wear athletics. Also if. Faster between the two. I. Ah, really? It's true. Andrea, what class are you wearing? I am a se
curity officer. You have to walk all that all day. All blue floor. I think you exercise more than them, right? Yes. Now we arrive at the indoor soccer class, right? Indoor football. Our students are already training very quickly . Are they all from Tegus or do they come from different places? There is both from Tegucigalpa and from other places in Honduras, for example, myself. I am from Camasca, Intibucá. That. It comes from afar, it goes. But like El Salvador, quite far away. Why did you decid
e to come here? Near my town, therefore, there is no regional center that provides me with the career that I am currently studying. It's your career. Physical education. Oh perfect. Alondra, how do your legs feel after this? Honestly, don't worry, we've just started, but it feels good. Go one hundred go one hundred. Although it is closed, it has a large, well-equipped weight gym. Well, that's a gym only for physical education students. The master is working in the other gym, which is a general g
ym for all students. They're going to open that. Right. Yes. Yes. It seems that we are entering an area, I think, of martial arts. All the implements there well stored. Of us. I see that they are training, which is what they are doing there. According to what you see, is it the taekwondo team? Let's go see their kicks but yes let's go to take off the tennis shoes first. Today I am lucky to choose socks that they don't have today. No way? Suddenly everyone raised it. Well, a challenge against you
, right? No no no no no. I think it's a greeting they're doing. What is today's routine? It's time to do resistance work . Endurance. Yes, it's going to stay. I see you had a marathon. He swam with sharks and those courses, the sharks. From here we are going to get the team that will represent UNAI and the country. In the Central American games. The other year. And are there some who have trained since they were children? Eh, they are pure children, are they really still children? For example, L
ady is saying that she is a girl, Alejandro, who is a national team player, is there, hey, he was silver in the previous games, these are for making discharges that we are going to use to kick, to hit the head, not like that, ah, not like that, it's not for ah, nice to meet you, teacher, can you tell us about the stretch you were doing right now, is it a preparatory stretch before starting the class or the other one, can we see the split, wow, how long, six months, six months to get there? Six m
onths. Anyone can do that in six months. Not just anyone, but with a lot of effort, eighty percent of people could. Now for wow front back. My God. Let's see Rony, let's see, Rony. No, he 's going to rip his pants. Ricardo, you are studying physical education. What is the trajectory with that career after graduating? There is a job field. Quite broad, which we can exercise as coaches, as teachers and as recreationists as well. In your case. I'm teaching. But in the same way we have a process in
table tennis, well we are going to enter into that part as well to train ourselves more. They are about to start their training, their faces have already changed, they have become more furious. Their warm-up is very extensive, for the sake of time we are going to continue advancing. Here there is also another gymnastics area and karate classes, we are not going to go in because they are in an exam and there is a girl who is doing a tasting and when she looked at us she got nervous. So, let's giv
e him the privacy. There were more classrooms for theoretical classes inside, but for the sake of time we will continue advancing. Fernando, what is the career you have chosen here? Journalism. What is your goal in journalism? Maybe in the future open one day but digitally. Excellent. And are you from here in Tegus? No, from La Esperanza, Intibucá. Seriously, hey. It goes too. Other colleagues from then, there are quite a few Inyuca students. Yes, I have some cousins and acquaintances here. Th
is cold is nothing then. No. Excellent friend. Man, thank you thank you. Here Fátima returned, she couldn't enter because of her heels, now she has better tennis shoes to walk with. More students join us. I went in a little, let's learn, what is the typical food here for students? There bullets are quite different here and we apologize to all of Honduras because the bullets here add any type of seasoning. We know that the balada only has three ingredients and that the best are from the north. Wh
at's on your chest here, take care of it, friend. An end to university. This is the little park of love. This is the little park of love. Lots of romance. Oh really. Lots of memories, right? Many memories, many memories from six at night. We have to film a little of that love park now, because at night, you know, for YouTube, I think it's too massive, with little benches for couples. Hello. Where were you going right now? To which class? To the chess sports center. Chess, seriously. And, is it s
ome class or team? Yes. All good, all good, all good. I already know I'm uglier in person, right? But he's not so scared. Can you tell us about that card you have here? Ah, it's my student ID. It is the identification that allows us to enter the campus grounds. Here inside the university is saying that there is a school. Yes. And what is the name of the school? Spinal Center. Una Experimental Center . The students who study are children of university employees. Actually now the school opened the
doors so that people from outside could also enter. The school is exactly thirty-two years old. And it is with the same infrastructure. From thirty-two years ago. That's why it's practically falling on us. I contacted you because last year it was Flag Day and the teachers were there before starting their act. What they did was take out a classroom. Hey water from the classrooms. Remove water from your classroom. It had already rained the night before so they were taking water out of the classro
oms. The school is very inclusive. Teachers want the best for our children. On display was my son with a physical disability. It would be excellent to have a very good one. OKAY. Very good facilities because the children deserve it. Thank you very much Bessi, shortly we are going to visit the school of the children we have met now. Daniel, tell me, what class are you taking right now? Soccer one. Then, soccer two, soccer three. That's how it is. And then to the Olympics. Oh, no. No, I'm actually
wearing this shirt because I'm from San Pedro. I came north. How, why did you come to Tegucigalpa then? Yes. Reasons for work and study. TRUE. You work and study. Yes sir. How is? Students like you who study and work at the same time. I imagine many have that schedule. I get up at five in the morning, I get ready, and at seven in the morning, I'm here at the university and I work in the afternoon as a volleyball coach and I leave at five, five thirty in the afternoon and return to the road. . G
reetings to the friends of San Pedro Sula. Nice to meet you, greetings to all. The best. Kevin, tell us what career you're pursuing. Physical education. And how do I come to decide that? Initially I wanted to study functional, but I had a problem with career changes, so I stayed in physical education. Look. I saw it, I saw it. Tell us, there is a lot of anime here and all that in the university. Yes, exactly, quite encouraged, we have been here since eight in the morning already receiving classe
s. Yes, no, cheer up, no, anime, anime. Cheer up, I know this was given to me as a gift. Some boy. Yes. Santos, you saw that the students here walk the entire campus. I only have two classes walking about a kilometer. Day. Like nothing else does anymore. Yes, like nothing. Yes. And what is your career? Administrative information. Greetings to your family. Hello. And the bride? Not yet. This year it's going to be, right? This year. Angel. Tell us, the students, what do you study here? Do you rent
apartments or travel from different cities, what is it like? It very much depends on where the person lives. Well, for example, I come from Santa Lucia. How long does that take? How is the proccess? It depends, in the mornings there are some queues, which is, oh, God, what time. And yes, an hour or so, it took me. There are apartments nearby that students can rent. I think so, there in Ecoplaza, right? How much do those places cost? Three thousand lempiras rent them more or less monthly. Yes. G
reetings to your mom. Hi mom. I'm famous, no. Awesome. We have met Esperanza students. Now from Santa Lucia. A lot of sacrifice because there are many hours of travel. Especially the students who have left their families behind in other cities. Fátima, one of our guides, says she comes from Danlí. Yes, I am from Danlí, I came to live in Tegucigalpa about two years ago. For study. Yes. What was the first week of coming here like? Do you have family here or are you among students? I'm alone, I liv
e alone, but in the first week I got lost. In Tegucigalpa it was big, and I didn't know the routes. And only in university do I think it can be lost? It's very big too. What career did you choose? Foreign languages. At what moment did you decide that this was your career? Notice that I have always liked that thing about cultures, language because it connects the human being. That's how it is. I see you were resting. What were you meeting about? Here resting we come from jogging for a while. To j
og for a while. And that for some class or? To release the stress of Sunday's exam. Oh really? What exams? Methods. What are the things that students are most stressed about lately? Don't tell me no, the girlfriend, right? No, no, not that. No, the exams. And for you? Yes, same, the exams. The pressure that some graduates put on it is the same. Big building on the left, what is it? J one is the building that is intended for the biology and microbiology majors. Oops. Our companion Abel was born i
n the famous progress. And then you grew up in the south, what was that like? Well, I was born in Progreso with my father and mother, they came here to look for better life options. I went to live with my grandmother, in Concepción de María, Choluteca. I came back so I could also study here in Ciudad Universitaria. Yes. The students who come from abroad, after graduating, the majority stay to look for work here or return to their cities, the majority of us stay here living or we go to other big
cities like San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, El Progreso and we work there. our profession do you find a capital? Does it have to stay here? Yes, yes, totally or already has one yes, yes. Oh really? Yes. He already stayed, he is already a resident of the capital. He already abandoned us in Progreso there. Where are we here, Edgardo? Hey, we're in the butterfly garden. They do research here and their practices. Are you biology students? Yes Yes Yes. Why is it so important to study about butterflies? It
is important because butterflies not only serve to make the ecosystem look beautiful but also help with pollination. Hey and it has good music too, right? It gives the students an atmosphere here . Nice to meet you. Tell us, what are we seeing here? With my other partner who is over there, we are the practitioners who are in charge of the aquaponic system. A breeding or production of vegetables. Those are lettuces, or what are they? Lettuce, yes. Also as fish production . Yes, I had not seen her
e, there are fish here, tilapia they are. They are tilapia, yes. I can, let's try a little leaf. It's organic lettuce. Something luxurious, you can buy this in the United States, it is very expensive, here, thanks to the work of the students, we are going to try it. Pure vitamins. All this is in a single operation. In that way? Just one drive like that, everything is fine like that. Because it is a closed cycle. The same water they use. Water, which fish use and waste, sediments from food, serve
s as proteins so that plants can grow. We have alpaca, they are still small. We are waiting for the development. Two modalities, this is called a floating bed, because you can see here. Wow, yes, they are literally floating these beds with lettuce roots. And we have the production unit that is called emptying and filling. That is what they produce is that there are times when the water reaches the upper layer and then by pure gravity the water decants to fall to the fish tanks below. There is a
way for people who want to support, who can buy the lettuce that you produce. Well, in the future we have those plans, to be able to market them and be able to obtain profits for what is the acaponic system. Yes. First time I have seen something like this in Honduras. Made by the hands of students and practitioners. Extremely impressive. Juan Carlos, after graduating with a degree in biology, what is the vision you have? The field in which we can specialize or address can be either research, we
also have laboratories or we have types of field work as well. On the north coast we need support in the botanical garden, the initiative, right? With the help of those who graduate from here. OK, let's get into the butterfly now. Some students with something, what is there? Plant waste. Maintenance. So is. Wow, the students here maintain the great nursery. Tell us, where are we right now? We are inside the university butterfly garden and this is a place for people to come and recreate and also
for people to come and learn about environmental education, which is the most important thing here, incredible. Can we see some butterflies? Right now, since it rained, we're going to find a way to fly because they need a lot of high temperatures to start flying, but let's take the tour and if we're going to see something, okay, the turtle area too. Yes, we have quite a few turtles down here. These are important because they clean the pest part of the ecosystem. What do you bring here? Butterfly
food. Those are like bananas, right? They are bananas mixed with beer. With beer. Beer. It is so that the fermentation helps attract the butterfly. How I wish I were a butterfly too. See, here in Tegus it's pure imperial. Life jacket. AHA. And the imperial is very acidic for them. So, the lifesaver is a little more. Softer. Then give more to them. And these butterflies have fine tastes. You can tell us what we are seeing here. They are right now beginning the life cycle of a river prawn. Okay,
a student got into the water to show us wow. They guys, they came up with these kinds of cages, right? Of the materials. Hand made these by students. They checked, correct. Marcos, what year are you in at university? Second. After graduating you think about working somewhere yes. The zoo, something like that. There are different fields. Zoo, that would be nice, right? One came out . Wow, but that's salt water, fresh water. Sweet, right? And people eat those like locusts. Yes. And those are from
here, there are those in Honduras like that. There are different places where these types of organisms breed, right? And they managed to recreate their conditions, as close to their natural habitat as possible to reproduce them. Let's see, what do you have here? A crocodile they say, let's see what they are going to show us here. Some wild snake, or is it something else? This is a baby Australian lobster with eggs. Wow, that's different, we just saw, wow, those are the eggs. Yes, those who are m
ore orange are those who are already about to be born. Eh, we have it aside because lobsters are territorial. So, if we have them with the young males. Yes. Lani, what is your goal after graduating with that biology degree? Get a master's degree. And be a recognized biologist. Luck. I know what he will achieve. Rony, who is hungry to see so many lobsters. As I seemed? I did not see it. I did not see him. Well, better because then I'll be able to eat it. Tell us, I see that you are friends. What
is the process like for a student who enters? And he doesn't know anyone. At first it is nerve-wracking. But I think it depends on expressing oneself and stopping saying damn, I'm in my career, I'm going to be friends with my career. What was the moment you two met? Remember. Classes. Oh really? Through classes. When students make friends here, they go out together later. Clear. And outside and everything. To parties, to eat. What are the weekend parties like for the students here? It depends on
what. It depends, right? Yes, yes, what do you have? Oops a butterfly appeared with What kind of butterfly is that, friend? That's one thing here, prof. Do you know if you are male or female? Yes, you can see it in most. And this is a male. Here you have some small sets, if you tell them, you tell them that, they are like little spikes. And what the female is going to do is that one, the, abdomen is going to be a little thicker and they are going to be a little bigger. They call this one a tige
r butterfly. What do students eat the most here? They are the fried foods, the different ones that are found, some candies, sweets of different types. Let's try the famous university pancake. Why is it so important for university students to eat well in the morning? Well, it's a breakfast, something cheap that the student likes it. And how many years have you been working here? Well, I have been working since I was a child, I have been raised here for over forty years. In this position. No, up t
here, nothing but green areas and here they are. Good, because they give me my beans poorly and humbly here. I give my children the study and here we are. You were able to finance your children's studies through this store. From my business. They are going to study here one day. Yes, God forbid. That is what I want. Here. Before reading and writing I didn't go to school. My children taught me to read and write. It's just that I don't go to school. And your children helped teach you. One in the m
orning they are at school and here in the afternoon they are helping me. You will see them in the afternoon when they come. I have them in private school. That's my pride. And I want them to move forward. I don't want to see them. Well, although it is humble, look what I have. But I don't want to see them, I want them to prepare me more. That they are better than me. The story of Doña Lourdes is incredible. For forty years it has been feeding the bodies and brains of already fed too much already
. Hey, through the sale he sent his children to a private school. How much does the pancake cost? Twenty-five for you. Twenty-five lempiras for that pancake that Doña Lourdes made . A graduate. Ah well. A graduate does it. You can open it. I imagine Lourdes that sometimes low-income students come through and that's why you keep the prices comfortable for them. When a student passes by, she tells me mother, I'm missing a lempira, I'm missing something, don't take her, don't worry . Oh, students w
ho can't even buy, I have students who have sold me this pencil, mother, look, I'm selling you this pencil, where I have the ticket, don't take your pencil, take the ticket, Ricardo, of the students who study here , how many are of limited resources who are sacrificing so much to get ahead? The vast majority, well, if we are talking about foreign students, they also come a little short financially, they pay rent, they pay fare, they make an incredible effort to be here, well, let's try the panca
kes, Alejandro was encouraged to show me the university technique. Which university technique? The hook. Good good good. Very good, very fluffy. Fatima who comes from Danlí, the sacrifices of the students who come from afar. How do they manage to sustain themselves for four years? Well, we have to save, sometimes because we pay the fare, if we go on foot or if we buy the copies. And it's difficult, that's why we all have at least one scholarship. Those of us who come from outside. Now it is true
that the government is giving scholarships to university students. Yes, solidarity scholarships. What is the process to get these government scholarships? Well, first you have to look for a link to solidarity scholarships. There appears the form where you have to fill it out for foreigners, I think it doesn't cost seven thousand lempiras. Wow. Excellent. They give you a month. Month. Isabella, we have seen, there are many students who, because they have been working, perhaps, much longer than f
our years here. Yes, and the schedules also influence a lot , because in the morning and in the afternoon you will see young people. But from four onwards. What you look at most are older people. They are gentlemen. They literally work and directly come to study. They come here to study. Tired. Wow, and here on the left is a big parking lot. This parking lot is from the 1847 building . It is a commemorative building in relation to the one hundred and seventy years that the university has been. I
t is supposed to have a university dining room, laboratories for different careers, but due to lack of budget the building has not yet been fully executed . Héctor, eh, tell us about the transportation costs that students use to get to their classes. I live here just by the Metro Mall, the Betania neighborhood, I spend thirteen coming and thirteen coming. I have lunch to buy here too. How much do lunches cost here? The cheapest are the bullets. They are worth around fifteen. How do you manage to
have all those daily cases? My mother and my family support me. You dedicate all your effort here to your family then. Yes. My family wants me to help myself too. A message to your family, to your people? Well, thanks to all the people who have supported me, right? Because is good. And I feel grateful too. Thank you. Congrats man. There are many more buildings to see, but something delicious? What we need most, right? Three Dominicans. Coffee. Wow, look at the stack. Surely those students have
not slept because they are studying and need caffeine. How many cups of coffee do college students drink here? Five. Five, ah, and you? No, five are always taken. Five cups of coffee. Each student sells well then. Why do students require so much caffeine, what time do they sleep? It depends on the load you have. And you? From his classes. Five hours, six hours. A little bit, but there are careers that become a little more difficult, for example, those in the medical area, engineering. They don't
sleep, okay. They have to try a little harder, stop doing things to study and pass. Ah, dating and not traveling. There is no time for courtship. There is time for everyone. Tell us, what is the flavor that university students here prefer? Coffee. Pure coffee . Yes, I normally consume little, I'm not a big coffee drinker. Yes. Only about five. Maybe. What time do people sleep here? It depends. Normally I'm sleeping about four, five hours. Yes. What time did you sleep last night? At eleven p.m.
At eleven, and you? At twelve, I go to exams. Oh really? Minor, what is the career you chose? I'm studying law. Oh really? At what moment did you know that this was the race? I was working in a center for juvenile offenders in and I saw the reality there, the need and the truth, well, that being able to help caught my attention and that's why I chose the career. I am currently living here, but I am a native of the town. You are from here in Tegus, how was the experience for you the first week? C
oming from a town to this great capital. Yes, it was a little controversial, but at the same time. It's quite fun because I started to adapt, I started to get familiar and now, well, I feel good. Now, to be a protector of children at social risk here in Honduras. Exactly, that's what we're betting on. Friend. Thank you congratulations. Look what, this, this photo he has, what is this? A member. Oh yeah. So much, they are BTS fans here at the university. I couldn't tell you, there are many. Oh re
ally. Greetings to those at PTS. Tell us, here on weekends , how do the students spend their time? Some come to take exams. Oh, seriously, classes too? No, just exam. But, are there parties, are there discos, what do they do at night? No, no, I don't know that. No, he doesn't know, he doesn't know, he goes. He doesn't know, he doesn't want to say. You spend your time at home, doing your homework, that's it. There is no time or energy to go out, right? No, almost not. They are different from the
university students in San Pedro Sula, I think. Yes, they like parties. OKAY. What we needed was a coffee. I need some shots of those to be a university student. I see you're coming from work right now. What is your schedule like, do you feel, about working and studying? Well, I work from eight to five and at Una I come from seven to nine. Today I arrive earlier. Yes, today I came, I asked for leave from work because I had some exams since the morning. They authorized my permit and I already too
k the exams, thank God. Wow, amazing. How do you feel at night after working and studying? What is the feeling of tiredness like? It's fatal, really. Tiredness is fatal, since it is not so much physical and mental fatigue because you have to prepare for the next day, the same one, the same routine. How do students have a social life too? If you work and study, for example, time for boyfriends, nothing, I imagine. Parties, nothing. No, the truth is that there are moments of partying, but it's lik
e we go to the party and fall asleep. So, it's like we don't even have time to socialize, to have friends. Why are you trying so hard? It's for their family, it's for some plan they have for their future. I try so hard, since I want to help my family move forward, since they couldn't give me what I now give myself, so I want to give it to them too. Wow. Someday your grandchildren are going to see that video. So you can look at the sacrifices. Oh yes, that's right. Suddenly I see a friend with th
e shirt, look, Tokyo. Tell us about the shirt, there, I was born there. Well, this was given to me and that one is also called my pet. Their pets are called Tokyo, seriously. It's cat, dog. She's a dog. AHA. And those you have here, what are they? They are from a band. Band, what band? This is from BTS. And here they are Harry Potter. These? Tell us. From Harry Potter and. Here we will also see. Which are? Greetings to the Koreans. Hello. Oops, suddenly the first man appears as he was. Here the
university students are from Motaguense, Olympians, what are they? I think they are more Olympians, but I am from the heart. What else did Fatima do? I see groups like rockers' clothes, others from pure BTS, other athletes. In your case, which ones do you have as a group like that? Well, a relaxing one. The relaxer, well, I belong to an association. It is not like a group of tastes, but of the student and academic part. Aha, student government. It looks like there is a map here, let's see. We're
here. And we have been there for about three hours and we have only entered two of the four places, there are many. It's weird here, it gets too cold and suddenly the temperature rises. You have to come well prepared. Shadowy or blocking. Because just to walk from a class, see if he took out the sunscreen. The sunscreen comes prepared, right? That's experience walking to a class from one side of the university to the other side. How long can it take? First of all, you have to organize your clas
s schedule well. It happened to me at the beginning of my race that I had to run from here to the sports center. How many minutes? Ten minutes because it's quite long. How nice that here in each section there are small parks with benches and quite far away I see a couple there happy or I don't know if they are fighting there. Later we are going to come to lunch with the university students but right now we have to find our building. They say some people are waiting for us there. Kevin tell us ab
out that shirt you have. Ah, it is the space that I operate here inside the university. Broad Honduran Revolutionary Movement. Tell us about that. It has been to defend education and health. There is quite a presence of students here. Yes, exactly. Nice to meet you. From the gastronomy career. Astronomy. Yes, I don't know if they want to go up the hill like a normal student or here. Like a normal. Yes. OK, let's go to the astronomy building. No, it's not horoscope astrology, right? Yes, if it is
Virgo, what does Fatima mean? Absolutely nothing. Here we have a replica of what is in Copán Ruinas, this stele is of the famous Mayan king called eighteen rabbits. These points. The only thing they represent is the passage of the sun overhead. Well, it may be upstairs. Yes. He's going to scold him. White is the equinox, red is the passage through the winter solstice and this is the summer solstice. Wow. When we enter the part of our faculty we will see that there is an astronomy department and
an astronomy art department. The stele is here for that very reason for the people who are in charge of all that part of cultural astronomy. Wow, how beautiful the building is. Tell us about the students who study astronomy. Then what types of jobs await them. It is a very complicated field because science in the country is not something that is developed. So many people choose to go to look for work outside the country. Or working in Copán in a museum, for example here in at least Tegucigalpa
is also the Museum of National Identity. Do you think that one day someone could come out who is going to work at NASA? Unclear. Right? And we have a doctor? That he worked at NASA. Is seriously? And he's the one who teaches classes here too. Has any Honduran astronaut emerged in history or not yet. Doctor? No. Astronaut. Does anyone have college aspirations here? Of course, of course. That one is even more complicated. A guy came out but not us anymore. No, someone has to leave Honduras from he
re, okay. We really have very very capable people. Thanks thanks. The facilities are incredible. First time I'm seeing something like this at a university in Honduras. Four years ago, what was the race like? In reality, there were many fewer students and now I see much more movement, which is something I like. Thank you so much. Teacher, why is science so important here in Honduras today in 2024 ? I am Italian, I work in Mexico, and I believe, science is no longer for Honduras but for the whole
world and above all this is a social importance. You believe that one day an astronaut could leave Honduras here . Of course. That's why you have to do these things. Boys and girls must be encouraged to become interested in science in general. And that they have this ambition to become astronauts, which is something extremely complicated. You heard the teacher from Italy, he already knows that an astronaut is going to leave here in Honduras. Hey, to the friends from Italy. Bye, everyone. Wait. T
hank you very much teacher. Thanks thanks. OK, the Jorge Sade salon has now opened. Wow. Astronomical nights take place every Friday starting at six in the afternoon. General dissemination topics are given . Children can come to learn too. Of everything. There are also quite a few women who study careers or. She is one of them. Ariana, at what moment did you decide that you wanted to study astronomy? Since I was in seventh grade. Oh really? Yes because? Because Because I always loved the stars,
right? And and I have always liked how to know more. How did you feel when the professor from Italy said that a Honduran astronaut was going to come out of here one day? Proud because I know the capacity that the kids have here in Ciudad Universitaria, because the goal is, well, for them to become successful people. That's how it is. Where we are? This is the Central American astronomical observatory of Suyapa. It has a telescope inside, which allows us to have our observations. Gustavo, teacher
. Can you tell us about it here? The old telescopes, it's a model C eight. It has a sun filter installed, this one here is the eyepiece, you have to put your eye in it. It's at an exact angle right now. Right now it is aligned with the sun. We'll see . Let's see, the sun. Is the sun. It is the sun, it is one. It looks like an orange there. He sees some little black dots that are there. Well. Those little dots, what are they? No, they are sunspots. They are regions of the sun where it is colder.
Some students told us that every Friday they give talks to the public, why is it so important for the children of the city to have that opportunity to get to know the facilities here. This project has existed since ninety-nine. We have a talk of about forty-five minutes, soon there is a response and then we look at Orion, the Moon, depending on what we have that night. I always invite them because the children find it quite interesting. Thanks teacher. Profe, how many of these observatories are
there in Honduras? And in Central America, only that. As a bachelor's degree, only in Central America, there is a bachelor's degree in astronomy and astrophysics. He says that his, his mother watches the videos, greetings there. Mother, nice to meet you, see you. What do we have here? According to the shadow cast by the sun, we can see what time it is, for example there, we can calculate More or less like twelve to twenty, twelve to fifteen, I'll calculate there. Hey, let's see if it's true. He
calculated twelve twenty. Well, two thirty-five. Almost one. Suddenly he took out something, Fatima, what do you have? Recognition for you, Shin for the work you have done in Honduras, with your thousand schools project, together with some student movements and faculty career associations, we make you deliver this oh, thank you very much, wow. Thank you. Juan Carlos, where are we? We are in the natural history museum. Let's get to know her. And so. Wow. OK, that's for Indiana John, let's see. Te
ll us about the lunch routine for the students here. Students who also sell products like this. Yes. And that? Tell us friend. Vanina, tell us about what you have here. Oh, I bought them nearby. He is, Where do you come from? From Holland. It has things written, what will it be? Ah, well, this was a mural for the day of love and friendship. Let's see what he says. Wow. Denia. Who are the ones who follow the most here at Unat? There are associations that support students who are blind. Here we lo
ok wow, what were you having for lunch here friend? Energetic. More or less the average, how much does a student here spend per month? He took something out. Our partner. Wow. The famous shooting has already arrived with everything.
