back in 1979 this 218 Acre Site nestled between Rio Rancho and Albuquerque was a sod farm today Intel New Mexico lies at the Leading Edge of semiconductor Innovation with more than 2600 Intel employees and a pair of sprawling qu million square foot chip Fabs the New Mexico site um has really transformed over you know the last decades we've been here for 43 almost 44 years now and it's really because of the amazing people that we have over the site's history employees have manufactured chips for
cell phones and Leading Edge silicon for PCs and data centers Fab 11x was Intel's first 300 mm high volume manufacturing Fab and at one time the world's largest Factory of its kind nowadays engineers and technicians in New Mexico develop emib Intel's Advanced packaging technology an innovation that allows chips to be stitched together side by side for greater flexibility teams here also make Intel silicon photonics chips that use Optical connectivity to move data astonishingly fast literally at
the speed of light and in January 2024 the site reopened Fab 9 to produce another Intel groundbreaking packaging technology called fos fos allows Intel to stack chips vertically providing Intel and Foundry customers the ability to mix and match compute tiles for optimized cost and Power efficienc efficiency systems of chips become powerhouses for AI PCS as well as the world's fastest supercomputers speeding up generative AI healthc care research climate modeling and much more Intel's growing and
